Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Terminator Was Not Infallible After All

Posted by: Sarah Sherboneau    Tags:  arnold schwarzenegger, maria shriver    Posted date:  June 4, 2011  |  2 Comments

When I first heard about the mystery love child of Arnold Schwarzenegger, I was intrigued. The governor of California has always seemed to have a very dedicated and straight life, yet to be involved with something so scandalous is surprising. Some might say they don’t care what the man does on his own time, but others just can’t help being curious.

With the crumbling of his marriage to Maria Shriver, Schwarzenegger is putting his Hollywood work life on hold. I don’t blame the family for wanting to really focus on what matters in order to figure out what’s best for everyone. It came as no surprise that the actor and governor of California decided that the film industry just wasn’t a priority for him at the moment. All of his current major projects and films are coming to a standstill until he can once again focus on them.

Sources such as Access Hollywood and Daily News have begun piecing together the story behind the scandals surrounding the star. Some of these details include the mother of the illegitimate child being Schwarzenegger’s housekeeper. Mildred Baena, now fifty, apparently was pregnant at the same time as Shriver. Shockingly, Shriver “had her youngest son, Christopher, five days before mistress Mildred Baena delivered his half brother in 1997, a birth certificate shows.” The secret had been kept for fourteen years before it was leaked. As more and more details are released, the story becomes more saddening. How a family could be broken up after something that happened so long ago. This just goes to show how scandal never ages. The past can always come to back to rob us of what we have worked so hard for.

With Schwarzenegger’s old claims of how Shriver was the perfect woman for him, I can hardly believe that he would have an affair with another woman. As much as he is a star, he is still human however. Many different scandals surround famous men and their affairs, such as the professional golfer Tiger Woods a few years back, as well as the great Clinton Scandal. In a few years you would believe that this will all blow over, yet Schwarzenegger’s career will always be tainted. He is no longer that man to look up to. He is now just another statistic, an adulterous male in the starlight.

Why should we care about this stuff anyways? Why do we as a general public care what famous people do in their personal lives? Well, in this case it is simply because he is more than a star. As a political figure, Schwarzenegger has a lot of people looking up to him. His judgment on certain matters means something to people. If he shows lapses in judgment at home, what makes them so sure that he won’t do it on the job? This causes so many problems when it comes to elections, and the who’s best for the job question. No matter what, the public demands the truth. The demand to know what kind of people our representatives really are, and as far as many citizens are concerned, we just learned what kind of man Arnold Schwarzenegger is.
