The Detroit Red Wings continue their undefeated record with a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night, along with continuing the Blue Jackets winless streak.

Johan Franzen scored two goals and an assist, and Valtteri Filppula helped with a goal and three assists to give the Red Wings their fifth win of the season. Nicklas Lindstrom and Pavel Datsuk also scored once for Detroit, while Jimmy Howard made 32 saves. Derick Brassard and Aaron Johnson scored for the Blue Jackets and Steve Mason stopped 28 shots.

Franzen, playing in his 400th game of his career in the NHL, was named first star of the game for scoring the first two goals of the game. Both goals were scored on the power-play, first with R.J. Umberger sitting in the penalty box for Columbus for holding and the second power-play was due to a slashing call on Columbus player Derek MacKenzie.

Columbus (0-6-1) is the only team in the NHL that have not one a game yet this season. Detroit (5-0-0) and the Washington Capitals (6-0-0) are the only two unbeaten teams in the NHL so far. Both teams will be playing each other Saturday night.
