Week 10: NFL Power Rankings

The Packers are again at the top of the Power Rankings this week as they remain undefeated. The Ravens and Steelers switch spots after Joe Flacco led a late drive to win the game at Heinz Field. The Bears, Texans, and Bengals all cracked the top 10 this week with the Patriots and Bills both losing and falling out of the top ten.

The big winner this week is the Dallas Cowboys who jump from 21st to 15th, with a win over Seattle to stay within striking distance of the Giants who have a tough schedule coming up. Another big move was the Jets who while only moving from 13th to 11th with their win over Buffalo, have jumped both the Patriots and Bills to be the highest ranked AFC East team.

The big losers this week are the New England Patriots who fell from 6th to 13th after their second straight loss. The Bills also saw themselves fall from 14th to 8th after getting beat at home by the Jets. The Chiefs dropped from 21st to 16th after their four game win streak was snapped by the winless Miami Dolphins in a big way.

The Cardinals, who last week fell behind the Rams, switched with the Rams again this week after beating St. Louis in OT on an amazing punt return by rookie Patrick Peterson. Rounding out the bottom of the rankings again this week are the Indianapolis Colts who lost again this week and look like they’ll be the front runners for Andrew Luck in next year’s draft.

Rank (LW) Team Record Comment
(1) Packers 8-0 They have the most complete offense in football which makes up for the defenses struggles.
(2) 49ers 7-1 The 49ers very well could clinch a playoff spot by Thanksgiving.
(5) Ravens 6-2 A season sweep of the Steelers leaves an easy path to an AFC North crown.
(4) Lions 6-2 No Best could end up hurting the Lions down the line they’ll miss his dynamic playmaking ability.
(3) Steelers 6-3 The Steelers are very good, but it will be hard for them to win the division now.
(7) Saints 6-3 After losing to the Rams, the Saints bounced back with a solid win over the Buccaneers
(9) Giants 6-2 Eli was clutch helping the Giants to comeback against the Patriots, but next up is the 49ers.
(10) Bears 5-3 The Bears proved in beating Philadelphia they are in the playoff race until the end. (John Clayton ESPN)
(11) Texans 6-3 The Texans will be a dangerous team come playoff time.
(14) Bengals 6-2 The Bengals have the best record in the AFC, but they’ve yet to beat any quality opponents aside from the Bills.
(13) Jets 5-3 After putting a beat down on the Bills the Jets have won 3 straight heading home to face the Patriots.
(12) Falcons 5-3 After beating the winless Colts next up for Matty Ice and the Falcons is Drew Brees and the Saints.
(6) Patriots 5-3 The Patriots have lost two straight and haven’t looked good. It might be three after a trip to MetLife stadium to face the Jets for 1st place in the AFC East.
(8) Bills 5-3 The Bills got bullied by the Jets and it’s time for them to prove how good they are with 4 of their next 5 games being away from Ralph Wilson.
(21) Cowboys 4-4 With the weak part of their schedule coming up and the Giants playing the toughest part of their schedule, now is the time for the Cowboys to make a run.
(15) Chargers 4-4 Phillip Rivers has been a turnover machine this year, but they’re still tied for first in the AFC West with Oakland coming to town this week.
(17) Raiders 4-4 Carson Palmer looked better, but still has a lot of work ahead of him. A win against San Diego could make things easier.
(19) Eagles 3-5 The Eagles have been inconsistent all year and have fallen three games behind the Giants after losing to Chicago, Monday night.
(19) Buccaneers 4-4 A brutal schedule is mostly responsible for the Bucs’ drop-off this season. (Mike Sando ESPN)
(20) Titans 4-4 The Titans need a pass rush, a deep threat, and a running game, but are still only 2 back of the Texans.
(16) Chiefs 4-4 The Chiefs gave Miami its first win of the year, but benefited from the Chargers and Raiders also losing.
(22) Redskins 3-5 John Beck is still looking for his first win as a starter. A season that started out with a lot of promise for Washington is now in a tail spin.
(28) Broncos 3-5 Tebow is 2-1 this year as a starter and with a win over Oakland the Broncos are only one game out of the three way tie for the AFC West.
(23) Vikings 2-6 The Vikings are simply out to play the spoiler and are looking ahead to next season.
(24) Browns 3-5 The Browns offense looks anemic and Peyton Hillis could be out for a while.
(25) Panthers 2-6 The foundation is there, but it’s not going to happen this season.
(26) Jaguars 2-6 It’s time for the Jaguars to be less cautious and conservative. Turn QB Blaine Gabbert loose. (Paul Kuharsky ESPN)
(27) Seahawks 2-6 The only thing going for Seattle right now is their running game, but the Ravens will probably stop that.
(30) Cardinals 2-6 It took a blocked field goal and a spectacular punt return by rookie Patrick Peterson for the Cardinals to grab a win in OT against the Rams.
(29) Rams 1-7 The Rams should have won their 2nd straight, but two special teams plays snatched victory right out from underneath them.
(31) Dolphins 1-7 The Dolphins won their first game beating up the Chiefs, but the fan base isn’t happy because they’re going to lose out on Andrew Luck.
(32) Colts 0-9 The Colts are a bad team and will probably lose every game this year and be the frontrunner for Andrew Luck.
