On the year of their 20th anniversary, punk rock band Rancid is hitting the road again, bringing their unmatchable energy on stage for the joy of diehard fans. Rancid, together with The Offspring and Green Day, is a part of the punk revival that took place in the U.S. during the ‘90s. Although Rancid’s musical style relies on the roots of The Clash’s sonorities, the band created its own sound, merging punk with ska and some post-hardcore sonorities, creating its own unique musical approach.

The band, composed of Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen, Matt Freeman, and Branden Steineckert, announced the 2012 world tour on Facebook last year, with a post that read “[…] 2012 will be a big year for us, because it’s our 20th anniversary, so we’re definitely going to do our own tour all over the world. As always, we appreciate your support. See ya in the pit. Rancid.”

Rancid, who just played a festival in Belgium, will spend May performing in the U.S.; afterwards they will land in Europe again, for a long series of concerts that will start in Vienna, Austria, at the end of July. The world tour is not the only Rancid-action expected this year; the band has also announced a forthcoming record, the eighth studio album for Rancid, which is expected to be released during 2012.

Rancid’s latest studio album “Let The Dominoes Fall” dates back to 2009, hence their new material has been much awaited by the fans of the legendary punk band. In an interview with Chris Coplan, the band’s frontman Tim Armstrong said, “Every record, we document where we are, so we don’t know what it’ll be. Each album shows us where we’re at in that moment in time, with the songs and the feelings that we’re experiencing, so it can change a lot in the next couple months.”

Here are the upcoming tour dates:
