New York, U.S.A – Best-selling crime novelist, lawyer, former prosecutor and philanthropist, Linda Fairstein will receive the 4th Annual HBA ‘Positively Beautiful’ Award from HBA Global Expo for her active support of Safe Horizon and its mission. Safe Horizon provides support, prevents violence, and promotes justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families, and communities.

The Positively Beautiful Award was established by HBA Global to annually recognize a celebrity who uses their name and talents to further a cause that champions inner beauty and self-esteem building. The Award Presentation will be part of the events Keynote Panel that kicks-off HBA Global on Tuesday, June 19th starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Special Events Hall. HBA Global Expo & Conference is the largest product development event for the cosmetic, fragrance, skin care, personal care, and well-being industries.

“Throughout her career, Linda Fairstein has been a tireless champion for women and children who have been victims of violent crimes and abuse. Her leadership and actions have helped so many to find their ‘inner beauty,’ as they also find hope and healing,” said Ariel Zwang, Chief Executive Officer, Safe Horizon. “I am truly delighted that Linda’s work and her dedication to Safe Horizon will be recognized with HBA’s Positively Beautiful Award.”

For three decades, from 1972 until 2002, Ms. Fairstein served in the office of the New York County District Attorney, where she was Chief of the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit. In that position, she supervised the investigation and trial of Manhattan cases involving sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, and homicides arising out of those crimes. She is responsible for creating many techniques that have revolutionized the prosecution of special victims’ unit crimes.

Linda Fairstein is also an internationally best-selling author of a series of crime novels (translated into more than a dozen languages) which feature Manhattan prosecutor Alexandra Cooper. The fourteenth in the series – ‘Night Watch’ – debuts July 10, 2012 and is published by Dutton.

She has received numerous awards for her legal work and advocacy including the Federal Bar Council’sEmory Buckner Award for Public Service and the UJA Federation’s Proskauer Award. For her pioneering work on behalf of victims of violence, Ms. Fairstein has received Columbia University’s School of Medicine and School of Nursing Award for Excellence; the Anti-Violence Project “Courage” Award; GlamourMagazine’s Women of the Year Award; the American Heart Association Women of Courage award, and scores of similar honors.

Prior to the Positively Beautiful Award presentation to Ms. Fairstein, a Keynote Panel on “The Future of Beauty,” will take place. Moderated by Jane Larkworthy, Beauty Director of W Magazine, Deanna Kangas, CEO, Stila Cosmetics, Sonia Kashuk, Make-up artist and Entrepreneur, Jim Markham, Founder and CEO, ColorProof™ Evolved Color Care, and Catherine Walsh, Senior Vice President, Coty Prestigewill share their unique perspectives on brand building and look ahead to what’s next in beauty advancements and innovations.

The HBA Keynote Panel and the Positively Beautiful Award presentation to Linda Fairstein, are open to all HBA attendees.
