Shellie Zimmerman, wife of George Zimmerman, was arrested Tuesday charged with perjury. George Zimmerman is the Florida man charged with second-degree murder for the death of  Florida teen Trayvon Martin

Seminole County sheriff deputies picked up Shellie Zimmerman, 25, from her home and escorted her to the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Florida around 3:30p pm. After an hour she posted the $1,000 bail, she was freed.

April 20, Zimmerman’s wife testified the couple was financially indigent, responding no when asked by her husband’s attorney Mark O’Mara if they had any major financial assets. A couple weeks before on April 9, George Zimmerman launched a site to receive donations to help  with legal expenses and received more that $200,000 from supporters.

Zimmerman, 28, was released on bail when prosecutors found out that the couple had at least $135,000 in funds available from the website. Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester revoked the bail, sending Zimmerman back to jail.

According to The Guardian, the arrest warrant read that, Shellie Zimmerman ”did knowingly make a false statement, which she did not believe to be true, under oath in an official proceeding.” Under Florida law, perjury committed during a capital case is a second degree felony.

No date has yet been set for a hearing in Shellie Zimmerman’s perjury case.
