Richmond, U.S.A. – The British Royal Mint has announced a distribution deal with Stauer and GovMint to release their official Olympic London 2012 coin collection. Consumers will now be able to collect each of the unique gold and silver coins as a celebration of this year’s 30th Summer Olympiad.

The Royal Mint has been striking coins for over 1,000 years, and this year’s Summer Games provided their designers and engravers with an exceptional opportunity to create exclusive Olympic collectibles.

Many millions will watch the “unprecedented summer,” as the BBC calls it. Few will ever have a chance to secure one of these precious mementos of history. Britain’s Royal Mint is making these coveted Olympic Games “coins of the realm” available worldwide through their network of official distributors.

The limited-edition line includes the Handover Series, the Countdown Series and the Gold Higher Series. The Celebration Series, a six coin set, marks the historic return of the games to the United Kingdom with a collection of stunning coins honoring the nation’s greatest icons and landmarks. Proofs and sets are available highlighting Big Ben, Stonehenge and Winston Churchill. And for the first time in the history of Olympic Games coinage, the Royal Mint is releasing a commemorative set of 29 coins depicting every Olympic and Paralympic sport.

In addition, each coin features Queen Elizabeth II, who is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee this year. Designed for the passionate coin collector seeking rare gold proofs or the history buff looking for a unique reminder of this landmark event, the Royal Mint coins, offer Olympic memorabilia coins available at Stauer and GovMint starting at only $4.95 each.
