Omerta’s Deathmatch Resets on August 17

Omerta Game Limited, a leading online publisher of free-to-play browser based games, has announced on August 17 a brand new reset and Hall of Game feature for iconic online mafia game, Omerta.

Democracy reigns supreme in Omerta, and the streets run red with the blood of the mafia.

Players of the international Deathmatch version of Omerta – a special, quick-ranking version used as a testing ground for new features – have used Omerta’s innovative RoM (Reset-o-Meter) feature to usher in a new reset of the mafia game.

The RoM brings democracy to the online gaming space, allowing players to vote for a complete reset of Omerta whenever they wish. Control of the game’s life cycle is firmly in their hands. If the majority of players vote in favour of a reset, the Omerta Game Ltd team clean up the streets behind the scenes and make it happen.

Each iteration of Omerta ends with an insatiable lust for blood as families go tommy guns blazing against one another in competition for top honours. The previous version of Deatmatch, which ended this morning, saw wannabe Dons sanction more than 12,300 gangster hits as they battled to rise to the top and claim ultimate control of the streets.

Omerta have introduced a new Hall of Fame system to the Deathmatch version, which rewards the best performing players at the end of a version with item-packed free vouchers to give them a head start when the game resets.

Members of the top ranking family when today’s version ended will begin the new game – which restarts on August 17th- with thousands of free money, bullets, guns, random cars and – in a first for Omerta – free rank points.
Silver vouchers are awarded to the family members, while The Don receives a special Gold voucher bursting with essential items and extra rank points.

Vouchers are also handed out to the top ranking player overall; and the player with the most kills.

Omerta Game Ltd Community Manager, Bianca Evers says, ”The Hall of Fame gives gangsters even more incentive to make a name for themselves. Passive gangsters never make the grade – it’s the aggressors that stand out. Now, getting the most kills in one version means you’ll be rewarded with a head start in the next. It could be your ticket to always earning Don status – if the other players let you get that far.”

Omerta is renowned for its thriving IRC community, which operates as a spidering underground network for fledgling gangsters to meet and discuss shady tactics. The team at Omerta can’t wait to see how the addition of free benefits for previously high ranking players will shake up the community.

“It has got potential to massively affect the way players start their life as a gangster”, adds Steve Biddick, Omerta Game Ltd CEO, ”Imagine you’re a gangster trying to get to the top. You’re in a room full of equals, but suddenly one of them has a free ticket to get a head start on you. Do you sweet talk him into letting you hop along for the ride, or get together with the others and stop him from rising to the top? The Hall of Fame could be the most significant change we’ve made to Omerta for a long time.”

Omerta is completely free-to-play, only requires a modest PC with an internet connection, and is currently available in 28 different languages.
