Martinsville, U.S.A. — A $2,500 grand prize will be handed out to the winner of “My YouTube Contest.” Randy Beaumier, author of “I Want My Sperm Back,” is the organizer and sponsor of the contest. Eligible contestants must submit a video book review, skit or mini-movie that addresses Beaumier’s latest book. Submissions will be uploaded to YouTube for the world to see. More details on the contest will be forthcoming.
Beaumier’s YouTube contest has relatively few restrictions. He asks only that entries not contain profanity, nudity or otherwise offensive content. In addition, eligible contest participants must display the address for Beaumier’s official website - BooksByRandy.com - during the entirety of their submitted video review or skit. Submissions will be judged according to relevance, creativity, originality and number of hits.
The real stroke of genius with this particular contest is the tie-in with the book. To be eligible for the grand prize, participants must purchase and download “I Want My Sperm Back,” because the rules and instructions are located at the end of the e-book. The book is available in all standard e-book formats, including Kindle and Epub, for $4.95. Smashwords users can sample the first 15% of the book for free.
The book is a fictional account of a legal battle between the parents of an unborn child. No doubt, the book will stir up strong feelings in more than a few readers. However, Beaumier simply hopes that “I Want My Sperm Back” serves as a conversation starter and opportunity to think deeply about some tough subjects.
“This is a first-of-its-kind e-book marketing strategy,” says Beaumier. “Participants must buy my new book, ‘I Want My Sperm Back,’ to learn all the associated rules. Ultimately, the hope is that some of the contest videos will go viral, which will naturally push sales even higher. But it’s not all about making money – I also want to make a connection with my readership, both emotionally and intellectually. I want to see some really empowering and meaningful responses to the book, so I hope that everyone who buys the book participates in the contest.”
Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from this contest will go directly to the Pregnancy Care Center of Martinsville and Henry County. As part of its life-affirming mission, the center provides faith-based counseling and support to pregnant women and their partners.
