"The Next Day" is among David Bowie's albums. I know. I have them all. I have been a life-long fan. This new album-can't believe I am uttering those words-is among Bowie's best albums. Hints of "Lodger", "Five Years", "Scary Monsters" "Ziggy Stardust" and a fresh, new sound that is thoroughly enjoyable and pleasant despite some of the dark messages Bowie sends in his new songs. No filler, no covers. Classic Bowie? Somewhat. But "The Next Day" proves to all, fans or not, it is no accident David Bowie's new CD made it to the top of the charts. Nothing to do with his "anti-marketing" strategy. Just really fantastic songs seamlessly arranged on a perfect album worth many, many listenings. Let's hope (and we do!) David Bowie tours. His classics would blend perfectly with his new material. This is Bowie at his best. So thank you, David Bowie. Thank You.
