It’s that time of the year once again. The summer is nearly here, and with it comes the need to plan your family holidays (if you haven’t done it yet). Of course, one of the main concerns is being able to get affordable airfares for your holidays while choosing a destination that offers something for every family member. If this is the case, you could consider travelling to Sharm el Sheikh, which may be compared with the most exceptional vacation destinations in the world.
This Egyptian town sits by the calm waters of the Red Sea. Its location on the dramatic coastline of the Sinai Peninsula has been attracting watersport lovers for decades, as Sharm is an ideal destination to practice scuba diving, parasailing, snorkeling, windsurfing, and water skiing. If you travel with small children and prefer something less adventurous, you can opt for boating excursions, canoeing, glass bottom boat rides, fishing tours, or simply relaxing by the beach at Naama Bay while keeping an eye on the young ones.
Another option is to head to one of the many water parks in Sharm for a day of family fun. Cleo Park is conveniently located near the city centre, and the slides, pools, and games have been designed to replicate the architecture of the Pharaos’ times. While the kids have fun, parents can treat themselves to a relaxing massage at the park’s massage centre or browse around the gift shop.
But a holiday in Sharm el Sheikh offers much more than just that. The town is only a few miles away from the impressive Sinai desert, which offers a perfect opportunity to take your family on a camel ride or on an excursion to the inspiring Coloured Canyon. These trips can also be combined with a stop in the towns of Dahab or Nuweiba, which boast magnificent scenery and are great lunch spots.
If you want to delight the youngsters, take them to a dolphin show, which are performed daily in Sharm. You will have the chance to see these intelligent creatures perform all kinds of tricks, and you can even jump into the pool and swim with them.
And for a totally different experience, take your family to the ice rink on Soho Square, where you can also find a kids’ arcade, a bowling alley, cafes, restaurants, and an IMAX-like theatre where you can learn more about the history of this fascinating country.
