This month we may not have any Halloween-based games, but there will be many fan favorite sequels coming out such as “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” “Batman Arkham Origins,” “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”, “Battlefield 4”, and “Just Dance 2014.”
“Beyond: Two Souls” is an interactive drama developed by Quantic Dream. The game stars actors Ellen Paige and William Dafoe and is told through a nonlinear narrative that skips back and forth between different points in the main character’s life.
“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” is an action-adventure developed by TT Games. Players will be able to control around 150 different characters from the Marvel Universe (including Stan Lee) with each having their own unique skills. Players will be able to explore New York City with every building having its own storyline narrated by Deadpool.
“Spongebob Squarepants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge” is a game based on the Spongebob Squarepants TV series and is developed by Behaviour Interactive. The Home console versions will have four-player co-op with the Wii U having an added fifth player using the Gamepad. Portable versions will be only single-player. Playable characters are set to include Spongebob Squarepants, Patrick Star, Squidward Tentacles, Sandy Cheeks, and Mr. Krabs.
“Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney-Dual Destinies” is the seventh game in the Ace Attorney series and is developed by Capcom. The game marks the return of Phoenix Wright as the main character and takes place a year after “Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.” The game features full 3D graphics and a 3D camera to investigate. A new feature is system known as the “Mood Matrix” the player will be able to notice contradictory emotional response and can press the witness for more detail. Note: Only available on eShop in North America and Europe.
“Batman: Arkham Origins” is the prequel to the Batman Arkham series and is developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal. The game follows a younger Batman who has a bounty put on his head by Black Mask on Christmas Eve. New gadgets are added to the game such as the Remote Claw, Shock Gloves, and the Concussion Detonator. It also includes side missions such as “Crime in Progress” where the player can assist the GCPD to improve their reputation and “Most Wanted” where the player can hunt down villains outside the main story.
“Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate” is the companion game to Batman: Arkham Origins and is developed by Armature Studio. The game carries over many features from the previous Batman Arkham games, but uses them in a 2.5D space. The game is also designed to let the player face the bosses in any order they choose. This causes the game to have multiple endings depending on whom they face last.
“Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” is the sixth game in the Assassin’s Creed series and is developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The game features three main cities, however there are also 50 other locations to explore. This game will have a more open world feel than previous in the series allowing the players to engage, board, or capture ships and explore as they wish. The new feature to this game is the ability to pilot their own ship, which can be upgraded throughout the game.
“Battlefield 4” is the sequel to “Battlefield 3” and is developed EA Digital Illusions CE. Players will now be able to use dual-scoped weapons. They also can “spot” targets by marking their positions to their squad in both single player and multiplayer. The game also allows the player to counter melee attacks from the front while standing or crouching, shoot their sidearm wile swimming, and dive underwater to avoid enemies.
“Just Dance 2014” is the fifth game in the Just Dance series and is developed by Ubisoft. The game has three different modes; the Classic mode that is the free-dance mode from previous games in the series, On-Stage Mode where one player dances the lead role while two other players dance as backup, and Party Master Mode (exclusive to Wii U and later Xbox One) where a player uses the GamePad and SmartGlass to change the game’s rules, song, and moves for the other players.
“Wii Party U” is a new party game for the Wii U and is developed by Nd Cube and Nintendo SPD Group No.4. The game is a multiplayer is a board game with over 80 different mini-games. The game will use the Gamepad to play some of the mini-games.
