In the second part of our October Games article it is all about the release list for the Role-Playing, Platform, and Sports Games.
“Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl” is a “re-imagining” of the first game of the Etrian Odyssey series and is developed by Atlus. The game contains two different modes, Story and Classic. The Story mode includes expansive story, preset characters, voice acting and cutscenes and lastly three difficulty settings where as Classic mode is the same as that of previous games in the series.
“Rune Factory 4” is the sixth game in the Rune Factory series and is developed by Neverland Co. New features to the series that have been added include speaking with dragons and having long-term relationships with prospective bachelors and bachelorettes before marriage. Another new feature is that some defeated boss monsters can become potential mates.
“Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness” is the sequel to “Disgaea: Hour of Darkness” and is developed by Nippon Ichi Software. The game will include new combination attacks and an upgraded master/student-system, which allows players to learn a variety of skills. A new feature is that characters in a group have relationship status that increases through character-bound special action and in game events.
“Pokémon X and Pokémon Y” are the sixth generation of the main series of Pokémon games and are developed by Game Freak. These games are the first in the main series to have full 3D polygonal graphics. Also for the first time, the player will be able to customize their Pokémon trainer by skin, hair and later clothes. A new type of Pokémon called Fairy-type that will help to balance out the Dragon-type. Another new feature is Mega Evolution that will cause fully evolved Pokémon to evolve even further during battles.
“Valhalla Knights 3” is the third game in the Valhalla Knight series and is developed by K2 LLC. The player will be able to create a battle team and challenge other players in 7-on-7 battles. There are seven different races and seven classes with different personality traits applied to characters randomly, which influence their behavior. The player will have to earn skill points in order to upgrade and unlock abilities for characters on their team.
“Deus Ex: Human Revolution-Director’s Cut” is the enhanced version of “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” and is developed by Eidos Montreal. The game has improved boss battles, AI and graphics, and new levels.
“Hometown Story” is a life-simulation game by “Harvest Moon” creator Yasuhiro Wada and is developed by Toybox Inc. The player will be in charge of running a shop left to them by their grandmother. The player must work to expand the size of their shop by keeping in stock items townspeople want. Like “Harvest Moon” the player will be able to interact and befriend townspeople. Depending on the player’s actions the town can grow to contain over one hundred non-player characters.
“Skylanders: Swap Force” is the third game in the Skylanders series and is developed by Vicarious Visions (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), n-Space (on 3DS), Beenox (on Wii U). Some new features to this game are the ability to jump and new swappable Skylanders. The new sixteen Skylander characters have top and bottom halves that can be separated and recombined to the other swappable Skylanders, which allows for 256 combinations.
“Sonic Lost World” is a new game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and is developed by Sonic Team (on Wii U) and Dimps (on 3DS). The player plays as Sonic the Hedgehog as they travel across the Lost Hex to rescue animals and defeat the Deadly Six. The game will feature a combination of 2D side scrolling and 3D linear levels taking place on spherical worlds. It also features a new control system at lets the player control their speed and perform new parkour moves.
“Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures” is a platformer based on the TV series of the same name and is developed by Namco Bandai Games and Namco. The game will include unique Pac-Man power-ups and multiplayer and maze modes.
“NBA 2K14” is the fourteenth game in the NBA 2K series and is developed by Visual Concepts. The game will be the first game in the NBA 2K game to have Euroleague teams. It also includes new signature skills and more than 50 hours of new commentary from Clark Kellogg, Steve Kerr, and Kevin Harlan. As well as new “Training Camp” mode that shows players how to master the new controls.
“F1 2013” is a game based on the 2013 Formula One season and is developed by Codemasters Birmingham. The game will feature all eleven teams and twenty-two drivers competing in the 2013 season and nineteen circuits and Grands Prix. Additional drivers, cars and circuits from the 1980s and 1990s are added in the “Classic Edition” mode of the game.
