This week the year’s most important annual end-of-workday arrives. America’s biggest retails sales day, Black Friday, is this week. It is a day known for massive savings and media-hyped deals, geared to push people in the Christmas giving–and spending–spirit. Millions will speed to American malls and retail stores in search of the best shopping deals.
If you are in the Central Florida area this Black Friday, however, you can indulge in a different speed event. Friday marks the 8th Annual Festivals of Speed (FOS) held from November 29 through December 1. It is the perfect antidote for crowded stores and stampeding shoppers.
The 2013 Festivals of Speed, presented by fields Auto Group, is the premier showcase of luxury automotive, motorcycle, marine, and aircraft vehicles in the state of Florida. Each year thousands of people view and experience a slice of the Jet-set life. Over the course of three days, the FOS puts on a show that includes the world’s best exotic cars, and the finest in luxury products and fine cuisine.
This year’s FOS will once again kick off with the Luxury Lifestyle Jet Port Reception on the evening of November 29. Planes, cars, and boats will be on display, surrounded by exquisite food, wine, and rare Brandy’s. Last year’s reception was a hit, but Fields Auto Group has kicked things up a notch with renowned pilot Thom Richard and his P51 Mustang “Precious Metal” in attendance. If you love food, wine, and cars, this event will be a much more attractive choice over scarfing down food court mall food, as you dash from one store to another.
Saturday, a slew of events will be happening at Daytona speedway with a Wine Connoisseurs Dinner at the renowned restaurant Norman’s at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. No doubt an exquisite cuisine experience will be had by the 300 guests who have already bought their tickets for this black tie affair. Unfortunately, tickets for this event are by now sold out.
Sunday includes the largest showcase in Florida at the Ritz Carlton. Cars from private and exclusive car dealerships will be on display from 10am to 4pm. Last year’s main attraction, the Bugatti Veyron, caught everyone’s eyes and breath, but this year’s showcase may top that for pure eye candy. Fields Auto have gotten their hands on a Pangani Huayra Carbon Fiber, one of the most desired exotic cars in the world. Cameras are sure to be working overtime to get snapshots of this piece of automotive art. In keeping with the festival’s name, three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal Letterman will appear as a special guest with cars from his racing team.
This year’s FOS is a perfect family outing that could be a welcome change from the malls and crowded parking lots of Wal-Mart and BestBuy. Tickets for both Friday’s and Sunday’s events are still available at Festivals of Speed eventbrite.
