Toonari Post (TP): When was your passion for music born?
Gio: I never thought to be a singer when I was a child. I wanted to be like Superman or Goku, but as I got older, I started to listen to music at parties and it motivated me to think how fun would be to be an artist. Since then, music became something special for me. My dream became to record a song that everyone would like. Then I moved to Cartagena, a city characterized by its parties and “pick-up”-culture. After some time I went back to my city with a more open mind and with the intention to record a song. It was in that time I picked up a pencil and a notebook, and the first few songs started to flow from my mind. That dream is now fulfilled, but I have many goals ahead.
TP: How did you discover your own talent?
Gio: When I was a child, I sang a lot, but not before recording my first song “Esa noche,” which was very popular in my city, did I realize that this was a real talent of mine.
TP: What does it mean to you, to be a singer?
Gio: It means a great responsibility I think, because an artist has to be an example for others who aspire to be one. Therefore, I always take care of my attitude while still trying to show to the public who I really am.
TP: When writing a song, what inspires you the most?
Gio: I think much comes from the effect my song have on my fans, through their comments and feelings. I imagine their happy faces, and those things motivate me a lot. For that reason, I also demand a lot from myself when I write a song.
TP: How would you describe your musical style?
Gio: My style extends to all urban genre. I have worked with dance hall, reggaeton, champeta, Urban merengue, and hip hop. But most of my work is a mixture between dance hall and reggaeton.

TP: Which on is your favorite?
Gio: My favorite song is “Esa noche,” because this song won me respect and recognition in my city.
TP: What is the message of your songs?
Gio: I like to convey a positive message and encourage love and happiness through my songs.
TP: Which singers have been influential to you?
