Famine for One is a fundraising program through World Vision.com. World Vision serves over 100 million people in over 100 countries including the U.S.
Famine for One asks one person to go 30 hours without food on a date of their choice. Mine is September 1st 2014 and I will be documenting my experience for Toonari Post.
Meanwhile, I am challenged to raise $425.00 which can be accessed through my Famine page, which was set up for free by World Vision.com when I registered. This money will feed a child in need for one year. To some that may be a small contribution but the point is in making a difference and raising awareness.
I was so inspired by World Visions site that through them, I actually began sponsoring a child who I can visit, email, and send letters and gifts to. Our journey through connection will be another story. I then applied to work with World Vision and was recently hired as a humanitarian.
My goal for this article is to not only raise awareness of famine but I am hopeful that a few readers will take three minutes to donate $1.00, just one dollar, to my famine page to help me reach this goal, with only $100.00 needed at this point to reach it.
Every day 18,000 children are dying from preventable causes like hunger and malnutrition. I’m not okay with that—and this year, I’ve decided to join people like me across the country to do something about it.
Help me reach my goal. Please visit Famine for One via Donor Drive or leave me a message in the comment section.
