Building on the application’s huge success among iPad users, the launch of Bamboo Paper for Android provides a new and exciting way for this group to share ideas and concepts on a smartphone by combining Wacom’s intuitive application and natural-feeling pen.

As of October 25, more than 4 million iPad users already enjoy the digital notebook qualities of Bamboo Paper. Following this success, Wacom has launched Bamboo Paper for Android — a free digital notebook app that allows mobile device users to create and collaborate through handwritten notes, sketches and doodles. Bamboo Paper makes using Wacom’s Bamboo Stylus family or any stylus that come with smartphones much more fun, allowing creativity to take place on the move. The app is initially available for the Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy SIII with more devices to be added at a later date. Note taking, sketching and doodling has never been easier or more intuitive on an Android device.

Bamboo Paper continues to push Wacom’s Bamboo brand mission forward, offering visual thinkers a way to construct and share ideas digitally. It provides an interface that is natural, fun and easy to use. Being one of the first apps by Wacom, Bamboo Paper adds a new element to the existing range of input devices (Bamboo Stylus range and Bamboo pen tablets) and gives users a very natural “pen and paper” experience.

Washington, U.S.A — On October 12, The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) announced the official launch of ACTEC Wealth Advisor, an iPad application targeted to financial service professionals and other advisors in wealth management. ACTEC Wealth Advisor provides wealth management professionals with mobile access to ACTEC-endorsed resources previously available only to ACTEC members.

The introductory version of ACTEC Wealth Advisor is currently available for complimentary download on the Apple App Store. Future versions of ACTEC Wealth Advisor may include premium content at a subscription rate.

Hamburg, Germany — With their first iPad app, the German start-up company Frankbooks enables users to communicate with other readers, as well as with the author or a particular character from the novel via an integrated Facebook plugin. Users can take part in the story and in return join a global reader’s circle within the app – which allows them direct access to the novel’s author.

This new way of social storytelling allows authors to create advanced narrative structures by combining some of their story’s character(s) with interactive Facebook accounts. In addition to this users can benefit from the e-book’s enhanced content (photos, maps, videos).

As well as to readers, the app will also appeal to authors considering similar projects, but who do not want to spend high amounts on programming. Using Frankbooks software, however, they will get the opportunity to participate in the fast-growing market of enhanced e-books at a reasonable price.

“Readers have become used to extra features besides the core text, such as interactivity and social media. Soon they will be a regular part of e-books,” says Frank Habbe, founder of Frankbooks.

The first e-book, Pocket Money, is a novel about a young man who accidentally comes into possession of a bag full of cash. On the run from his pursuers, his journey takes him through Northern Germany

New York, U.S.A. – TED, the nonprofit devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading,” officially launched on July 19 its TED Books app for iPhone and iPad. The free app dramatically updates the current and future line of TED Books, which sell for $2.99 each, with video and audio embeds, social integration, and a suite of multimedia features.

“TED Books are designed to communicate a powerful idea in approximately one hour of reading” said TED Curator Chris Anderson. “Our new format allows the inclusion of powerful multimedia elements but without distracting from the narrative journey that any good book offers. We think they’re an exciting solution for an age in which digital tools have never been more exciting, yet time has never been in shorter supply.”

TED Books are short, original, electronic books produced every two weeks by TED. Like the best TED Talks, they’re personal and provocative, and designed to spread great ideas. TED Books are typically under 20,000 words — long enough to unleash a powerful narrative, but short enough to be read in a single sitting.

Through the new app, TED Books are now able to embed video and audio content, timelines, and links to outside sources, as well as social features that allow readers to discuss the book online. Multimedia components can also be turned off within the app for a more traditional reading experience.

Multimedia versions of all 16 TED Books published to date will be available in the TED Books app, including Demise of Guys by Philip Zimbardo & Nikita Duncan, Weekday Vegetarian by Graham Hill,Make Love Not Porn by Cindy Gallop, Smile by Ron Gutman, What’s Killing Us by Alanna Shaikh,Beyond the Hole in the Wall by Sugata Mitra, Hybrid Reality by Parag & Ayesha Khanna, and Cheating the Impossible by Philippe Petit.

The TED Books app is based on technology developed by Atavist, a software and media company selected by TED for the power and elegance of its e-book offerings. The TED Books app can be downloaded from Apple’s app store.

All TED Books will continue to be available for purchase on Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, and Apple’s iBooks store at $2.99 each.
