The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Seven people lost their lives and more than thirty were seriously injured because of an unexpected bomb in the parking lot of Burgas International Airport in Bulgaria. The incident happened on July 18 at 5:25 p.m. local time, shortly after a group of Israeli tourists landed at the airport for their summer holiday. One of the buses taking travelers to their hotels was detonated, and as a consequence, two other vehicles were destroyed by the fire.

On July 19, the Bulgarian Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, declared that the bomber was a suicide attacker, who had a fake driving license registered in Michigan. The investigators still cannot confirm who stands behind the terrorist campaign against the Israeli citizens in Burgas.

According to one of the versions, the bloody act was organized by Hizbollah, a military group in the Islamic world, sponsored by both Iran and Syria. “There is solid, indisputable evidence that Hizbollah terrorists undertook this attack, aided by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards,” announced the Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman.

Although Tehran denied these rumors, calling them baseless and ludicrous, Lieberman stated that the attack in Bulgaria was similar to other terrorist actions accomplished by Iran. He, himself, declared in an interview for a local radio station that the silent war between the two countries “didn’t start yesterday and will not finish tomorrow.” However, no one can positively claim that Iranian organizations are behind the terrorist acts in Burgas.

The attack was discussed during a meeting of the Security Council of the United Nations. The attending Bulgarian representative, Stefan Tafrov, asserted that the organizer and the performer of the sudden onset have not been identified yet. However, Haim Waxman, the representative of Israel, commented: “We know the fingerprints are very clear. The hands of Iran and Hezbollah are all over this attack.”

However, one of the main questions that still has not been answered is why the attack happened in Bulgaria. Specialists in this sphere are convinced that the small European country is among the top destinations of the terrorist groupings. Bulgaria does not have too much experience because this is one of the few assaults that were carried out on its territory.

On the other hand, Israeli citizens are said to be under the threat of terrorist actions everywhere around the world, so it is no surprise that this time the target was the Balkan republic. Some Bulgarian experts even assume that the reason for the bloody act may be connected with a political mistake that the country made years ago.of the Bulgarians tend to believe that the Israeli tourists were the objects of the terrorist actions, while the territory of the European country just proved to be a suitable area for accomplishing the attack. Few are those who assume that the work of the Bulgarian government provoked the inhumane act.

Meanwhile, three aircrafts belonging to the Israeli government left the European country two days after the tragedy. Two of them transferred the injured people back to their homeland, and the last one carried the coffins of the innocent victims.
