The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Franklin, U.S.A. - As National Tire Safety Week kicks-off across the country, Nissan confirmed plans to make the “Easy-Fill Tire Alert” system available on all future models it brings to market beginning in 2013. This safety feature, which also bolsters fuel economy, is one of the automaker’s latest innovations. It currently comes standard on all 2013 Nissan Altima, 2012 Nissan LEAF and 2012 Nissan Quest models, with standard or optional availability on more products to follow later this year as the automaker continues it launch of five all-new models in the next 15 months.

The “Easy-Fill Tire Alert” system is an all-new control module currently being phased into vehicle redesigns like the all-new 2013 Nissan Altima. First, the vehicle’s tire-pressure warning system alerts a driver to a low tire; and on some models displays the current pressure and tire or tires that require attention on the dashboard display.

When alerted, drivers should stop at the nearest gas station to fill the tire with an available air hose. Once air begins flowing into the tire, the vehicle’s four-way flashers come on to confirm the process has started. When the tire hits the appropriate pressure level, the horn then chirps to let drivers know the tire has been properly inflated. If the driver continues to fill the tire with air, the horn honks more aggressively and the tire deflates to the appropriate operating level.

“Nissan’s ‘Easy-Fill Tire Alert’ system is straight forward and eliminates the need to keep a tire gauge in your vehicle’s glove compartment,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “By making this unique Nissan innovation available on all our future products, the guessing and the gauge vanish for our customers.”

A recently released federal study shows driving on under-inflated tires triples the risk of an accident, and according to the U.S. Department of Energy, drivers can improve gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent by keeping tires inflated to the proper pressure. Additionally, auto care professionals say that from one tire gauge to another there can be a three or four pound difference in air pressure readings, further indicating the need for an easy-to-use technology like the “Easy-Fill Tire Alert” to assist vehicle owners in maintaining proper tire pressure.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Automobili Lamborghini America has announced that it will host “Lamborghini Day” at The Excel Institute on Jan. 25th to give automotive students hands-on training about the super-car line of vehicles. The Italian manufacturer of hi-end luxury sports cars Automobili Lamborghini SpA, based in Sant’Agata Bolognese, is part of the family of brands owned by the Volkswagen Group.

During the event, Lamborghini will have the 12-cylinder Aventador LP 700-4 and a Gallardo Spyder LP 560-4 on display while they give students an overview of the vehicles with an opportunity for the students to ask questions. Students will also be able to inspect the vehicles’ engines, interiors and exteriors.

The Excel Institute, which provides scholarships for vocational training in the field of automotive technology for at-risk youth and adults, is one of Volkswagen Group of America’s (VWGoA) community partners. The partnership supports Excel’s most significant expenses related to life and employability skills such as computer literacy and one-on-one academic tutoring.

Volkswagen and Audi technicians also train the Excel Institute teachers about new technologies, maintenance, and repair (Train the Trainer). VWGoA and The Excel Institute are developing reciprocal shadowing and hosted seminar opportunities for employees and students to visit job sites. To date, this support has enabled more than 250 students to participate in The Excel Institute’s Life Skills program.

“Lamborghini is pleased to be able to host Lamborghini Day at Excel Institute, which is one of our esteemed community partners,” said Wolfgang Hoffman, Chief Operating Officer Automobili Lamborghini America. “These students represent the workforce of tomorrow, and we’re excited to be able to give them an opportunity to learn about this elite auto brand in a manner that is hands-on, up close and personal. This event is another way for us to demonstrate our continued commitment to the communities that we serve.”

“Our students could not be more excited to see and touch vehicles of this caliber,” said Cheryl Edwards, Excel’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are training our men and women to work with the most up-to-date technology, and are honored to have Lamborghini on site sharing their knowledge and information. It’s possible that one day in the near future some of our students will be working on vehicles like the ones at the event.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Pixar Studios announced that the animation industry is working on two different movies that will be released in 2013 and 2014.

At the last Disney film convention, D23, held on August 20, Pixar and Walt Disney Animation chief John Lasseter disclosed the two films in active development whose titles remain unknown. Dinosaurs will be the main idea of one of the movies they are working on. Directed by Bob Peterson this movie confirms the rumors that sprang up two years ago.

In 2009, Greg Dykstra, a character sculptor at Pixar was showing his model for a young version of Carl during an Up featurette. In the interview with him, the public could see some dinosaurs’ pictures in the wall behind him. After that image the question loomed up: Would be dinosaurs the main starring of the next Pixar film?

At the D23, Disney didn’t reveal much information about the plot. “What if that life-changing asteroid missed Earth? The hilarious tale depicts a world where dinosaurs never went extinct,” said Pixar. The movie, currently being referred to as the Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs, will arrive on November 27, 2013.

The other untitled production directed by Pete Docter, director of Monsters Inc and Up, will be about how the brain works. Described by Docter, it is a comic look at how ideas come together and the inner workings of our brains. The audience will have to wait until May 2014 for more details.

In the meantime and just few months before those two releases, Brave and Monster University movies will keep entertaining the spectators. Brave, from which a new scene was shown at the D23 featuring the suitors trying to win heroine Merida’s hand in marriage, will be on theaters August 17, 2012. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, this movie was titled at its origin as The Bear and the Bow.

This film is the first Pixar movie directed by a woman and starring a woman. It is also based on a tale. In addition, according to the media outlet Variety, princess Merida will most likely join the Disney Princesses after this movie.

Two days after that premiere, Mike and Sulley will return for Monster University, the sequel to Monsters Inc, on August 19, 2013. The plot is about how they met at the University where they couldn’t stand each other and how that relationship changed until they became best friends.

Monsters University, brings back Billy Crystal who voices Mike, 10 years after the original was released. At a Q&A for a Hero Complex screening of City Slickers where Crystal recently participated he spoke briefly about the movie and he stated that the script was “really funny.”

Discussing Sulley, Crystal said, “John Goodman is a genius and he’s great and we’re really funny together. It’s college pranks with monsters. And I wear a retainer. Mike has a retainer.”

Planes, a spinoff of the “Cars” franchise, is another upcoming produced by DisneyToon Studios that will also hit on Spring 2013. For those who cannot wait until that date Wreck-It Ralph is the movie to go see. Voiced by John C. Reilly, this film is about an arcade game character named Wreck-It Ralph. The film will be opening in November 2012.
