The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

British singer Adele has been battling a string of illnesses as she continues to tour around the world to promote her widely successful album “21.” Her second album has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and is projected to sell millions more before the end of the year. Adele launched an international tour, but unfortunately, she has had to cancel many appearances because of an ongoing chest illness.

Adele’s debut album entitled “19” came out in 2008 and launched her an international superstar. The 23-year-old songstress has won an array of awards, including Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her second album “21” has sky rocketed through many international music lists.

It has reached the number one spot on charts across the world, including in the United States and United Kingdom. Her successful album has been certified platinum in countries across Europe and in the United States. Written from experiences based solely on one relationship, the emotional songs on Adele’s sophomore album have touched fans around the world.

At the beginning of her tour, Adele was performing at sold out venues across the United States. Fans paid top dollar to watch Adele perform some of her popular hits, including “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You.” Adele’s pure talent and masterful songs brought thousands of fans to her shows as her much anticipated tour made its way across North America.

As June came around, Adele became sick and was forced to cancel the rest of her North American tour. With nine shows still remaining, Adele had no choice but to cancel her shows as she suffered from laryngitis. She was advised by a specialist to go without singing for weeks to preserve her voice.

“I’m really frustrated. I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry. See you soon, love Adele.” The popular singer-songwriter said in a statement on her website.

With much rest and weeks away from performing, Adele scheduled a tour around the United Kingdom. Just like her North American tour, her UK shows quickly gathered excitement for the British superstar to perform favorites including “Set Fire to the Rain,” “Turning Tables” and “Rumour Has It.”

Although Adele refrained from performing for over a month, she had to postpone her first couple of appearances in the United Kingdom in September. She was scheduled to perform her first show on September 4 in Plymouth and her second concert on September 5 in Bournemouth.

Both shows were postponed as she continued to suffer from a chest infection and cold. These UK shows will be rescheduled for when Adele recovers from her illness. The postponement of Adele’s tour continued with two more concerts on September 7 in Cardiff, followed by her Blackpool show on September 8. Like her other postponed dates, the Cardiff and Blackpool shows will be rescheduled.

Adele was also scheduled to sing on the Mercury Awards but was unable to because of doctor’s orders. Adele was hopeful that not singing at the Mercury Awards would allow her to continue on with her UK tour, but she was still not completely recovered from her chest infection and cold. Adele is scheduled to perform concerts in England, Scotland, and the United States in upcoming months.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Dave Matthews Band Caravan will be bringing their folk rock musical style to a weekend-long performance on New York City’s Governors Island. The show will kick off on Friday, August 26 and will run throughout the weekend until Sunday, August 28. The outdoor concert will be a great way for New Yorkers and fans of Dave Matthews Band to enjoy the summer season as it winds down.

Dave Matthews Band will perform a full set on all three nights at Governors Island. The band will also be joined by other top notch opening acts, giving concert goers the chance to enjoy a large amount of musical talent in one spot.

The musical lineup on Friday includes O.A.R., Citizen Cope, Wood Brothers, Soul Live, and Vieux Farka Toure. The second day of the concert series will host the talents of Dispatch, The Head and the Heart, Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Dave Wax Museum and Moe.

Rounding out the final day of the festival, Sunday will usher in the performances of Elew, The Roots, Gogol Bordello, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, and Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds. Dave Matthews Band will be headlining the show on all three days. The star-studded lineup is sure to bring fans from all over the New York City region to the outdoor venue on Governors Island.

From their native city of Charoletsville, Va., Dave Matthews Band has been creating well-loved music since 1991. Frontman Dave Matthews, with the collaboration of his band members, has released seven studio albums throughout his career. One of the band’s most famous songs, “Crash Into Me,” was released on their second studio album entitled “Crash.”

The popularity of this album led to a platinum certification seven times. Their most recent studio album was released in 2009, entitled “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” which has also gone platinum. The band has also released more than a dozen live albums, creating a solid set of songs and loyal fans from around the world.

Dave Matthews Band has been touring internationally for decades, often during the summer season. Along with special guests, the Dave Matthews Band Caravan is showcasing their music on Governors Island, a popular summer spot for New Yorkers.

Just a short, and free, ferry ride away from lower Manhattan, Governors Island has hosted an array of concerts and performances. Many other activities are ongoing on the island, including miles of bike friendly paths, miniature golf and picnic areas. With its proximity to New York City and Jersey City, Governors Island provides stunning skyline backdrops for all its outdoor concerts.

Tickets are available at the rate of $65 per day, or $325 for the three-day package. The Dave Matthews Band Caravan has already performed in Atlantic City, NJ and Chicago. The concert has maintained an environmentally friendly stance throughout its course, encouraging fans to be as conscious of the environment as possible.

With the assistance of concertgoers, more than 200,000 bottles of water have been spared from landfills by using reusable bottles and filling up at the concert’s water stations. The event also promotes the idea of recycling and carpooling to venues. Dave Matthews Band Caravan is sure to attract fans from all across the tri-state area for a weekend of outdoor excitement and popular music.

The lead singer Caleb, left the stage on Friday that<ins datetime="2011-08-01T10:48" cite="mailto:locadmin"></ins> night, after he complained about some vocal issues. He excused himself from the stage, telling the fans that he was heading backstage to vomit and grab another beer. But that he would be back for three more songs. But he never returned, and the audience felt abandoned and very pissed.

Moments after his brother Jared, apologized for the cancellation of the show, and he explained that Caleb was “a little unfit” to continue the concert. Showing a sign of impotence and angriness he told the crowd: “Fucking…<ins datetime="2011-08-01T10:51" cite="mailto:locadmin"></ins>hate Caleb, not us.”

Based on a statement taken from the website Woodlandscenter.org, the cause of the abandonment by the lead singer Caleb Followill was due to “heat exhaustion and dehydration”.

The media responses were immediate, and moments after Caleb follow ill, his brother wrote on his Twitter page:

“I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”
More concerts are programmed to happen this week, but there has not been any information that they will be canceled or reschedule . The only show re-schedule already known is the one for Saturday, which will happen on September 22.

The live performances will occur this week in Tampa, West Palm Beach, Charlotte and Virginia Beach.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The world-famous jazz trumpet and saxhorn player Paolo Fresu celebrated his 50 birthday with 50 concerts throughout Sardinia, a beautiful Italian island in the heart of Mediterranean Sea, invading it with the light sound and soft words of jazz music in the warm summer atmosphere.

From June 12 to July 31 he played every evening for a self-planned and directed tour, changing places, performances and partners day by day. A full immersion of jazz music in the most uncontaminated and wild areas of the island. An actual collection of fascinating places full of mystery, culture, magic and history.

Arts and culture join nature in the total respect of environment. Indeed, all the energy needed for the stage was provided by an ecological electrical generator, supplied through solar panels exposed to the day light before any concert. The intention was to create a relationship between music and landscape, promoting renewable energy and trying to sensitize public awareness of environmental issues.

The sound of Fresu’s trumpet re-echoed around green mountains, mines, archeological areas, accompanied by several musicians, actors, writers, orchestras from all around the world. Just to mention some of these musicians, Ralph Towner from Washington U.S., Richard Galliano from France, Omar Sosa from Cuba, Enrico Rava from Italy, Dave Douglas from New York U.S., Eivind Aarset from Norway, Glenn Ferris from Los Angeles U.S., Dhafer Youssef from Tunisia, Ludovico Einaudi from Italy, Nguyén Lé from France, and Uri Caine from Philadelphia U.S.

!50 music tour offered to all jazz lovers a special gift made by music, nature and culture. Words and music merged in an explosion of warm sounds and surreal atmospheres. And all for free, in fact there was no ticket to pay , only passion and taste for good jazz music were needed. The concerts performances were also available on live streaming.

The “sleepless trumpeter”, as Fresu is being called for his incessant musical activity – more than 300 recorded albums and 2500 concerts up to present -, never stops surprising his fans and his island with his skill as an artist and his simplicity as a man.

Paolo Fresu was born in Berchidda, a small village in north Sardinia. He started playing trumpet at the age of 11 and after different musical experiences in 1980 he began his jazz career. Nowadays he is one of the most appreciated and popular European jazzman. Since the ‘80s he has won several awards as best jazz musician in different countries, such as the prestigious Django d’Or in France. In 2005 he was one of the nominees for the Latin Grammy Awards of Santa Monica, California.

Over the last 30 years he has performed all over the world with a wide set of international artists such as John Zorn, Dave Holland, Gil Evans, John Abercrombie, Trilok Gurtu, John Taylor, Palle Danielsson, Jon Christensen, Gerry Mulligan, David Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Richard Beirach, Jim Hall, Helen Merril, Ralph Towner, Richard Galliano, Michel Portal, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Jeanne Lee, Gunther Schüller, Paul McCandless, Toots Thielemans, Andy Sheppard, and many more.

There is not much more to say about this great jazzman, his music can speak better than thousands of words.

On an MTV’s interview she talked a little bit about the tour and how everything is going for her: “The shows have been equally amazing. The crowds have been so good each night and that gives you the adrenaline you need to get through the show. It just pumps you up. Every night is a blast.”

The shows have been equally amazing,” Spears said. “The crowds have been so good each night and that gives you the adrenaline you need to get through the show. It just pumps you up. Every night is a blast.”

But before every performance, a pre-show ritual takes place among Britney and the dancers. “We always say a prayer before the show; sometimes a really long prayer, sometimes a short prayer. We just do it; we grab each other’s hands and go do it.”

This year has been a great start for the pop start, heading up this amazing Tour and counting with a nomination for Best Pop Video and Best Choreography at the 2011 Video Music Awards.

On Monday the tour added Jersey Shore, to open the concerts. He will be accompanying Spears on six shows on August.

She wrote a message to her fans on Twitter today by saying: “ Thanks for all the birthday wishes from around the world…18…big news on the way.”

Now that she has reached a legal age, we just wander what plans she has on mind.

Her reputation does not fit in the category of keeping a low profile, since she is not a girl that wants to keep it quiet. Few weeks ago when she was giving a concert at Razzmatazz club in Barcelona, she heated up the stage when a female fan went on stage and began to grind with her.

The upcoming plans include her band The Pretty Reckless which will head up to Chicago next week to heat it up, and then will go to the other side of the world Japan and Australia to keep performing in more music festivals.

Sitting on couches in the upstairs dressing room of the Bowery Ballroom, he told of the sub sandwich he had in Cleveland, how he schools kids on the drums at random Guitar Centers across the country and not to take his weird mood personally because there was glass in his feet from walking around barefoot most of the time.

He told of albums he had on cassette when he was younger, his passion for surfing as well as his dislike for surfer music. It was an average, run-of-the-mill conversation coming from a person who is creating music that is anything but average, music that people were becoming obsessed with basically over night, stemming from the band’s first single “Sail” playing on a radio station in Austin, Texas.

“I didn’t even know about that,” Bruno said. “But he started playing it, and I got a call a week later that we were number one in phone requests and all this sexy stuff, and then we went over there and had this outrageous show and it was packed and everybody sang all the words and that sort of had a domino effect throughout the rest of the country.”

Currently, AWOLNATION is playing on the airwaves in every city, except one: ironically Cleveland, Ohio.

The idea of becoming a musician professionally just came to Bruno much like a simple decision people make on an everyday basis.

“I never decided I wanted to,” Bruno said. “It just happened. I was in different punk bands and hardcore bands and I think there was a certain moment where there were bands around our neighborhood who were starting to get record deals. So I think at one point we decided to get kind of serious in just trying more and becoming professional and rehearse every day and so forth and so on.”

After a semi-successful career with other bands and other labels, Bruno is currently working on AWOLNATION, his solo project, signed to Red Bull Records. AWOLNATION has released an EP as well as a full-length album since signing to Red Bull Records in 2009. The music has been described as rock and roll with an electronic influence, a union Bruno didn’t set out to create but rather just let happen.

“They’re just sort of ideas that come to me or certain things I’ve always wanted to do since I was a little kid that I didn’t have to means to do,” Bruno said. “So when the time to make art and music that no one else had a decision in but me, of course it’s just an extension of really what I like. Anything you see or hear is what I’m a fan of basically coming out in my own way… It’s just me, so this is just who I am.”

Bruno said in an interview with LA Music Blog the band’s name actually stems from a nickname he had in high school.

AWOLNATION is currently on tour, something that Bruno has mixed feelings. He says he doesn’t like all the down time and hates flying on an airplanes, but he really enjoys playing shows because he gets to be closer to his fans.

“I get kind of bored,” Bruno said. “You know, I get very restless throughout the day so when we play it’s just like all the cliché things you hear from other bands, most of those things are true, but for me, you’re just jamming with your friends. You’re literally playing for a living, so no complaints there, but to have an energetic show where people are jumping around, sweating, singing all the words, that’s the ultimate goal for me.”

Even fans that don’t know all of AWOLNATION’s lyrics still have an affect on Bruno.

“Chewing gum, as we call it when people are just chewing gum and acting like they know the words when they don’t. I see a lot of gum chewing at our shows, which is really cute, but I’m appreciative that they want me to think that they know the words at least.”

With a wide variety of music interests such as Michael Jackson and Neil Young, it is easy to see where Bruno finds inspiration for his songs. He works hard at making songs he thinks people will like, all the while staying true to himself.

When asked what he would be doing if he weren’t in a band, he took a second and then said, “That’s an impossible question to answer because I don’t know. I wouldn’t be me, you know?”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

We want more Indie Rock! For everyone that agrees with this thought, let me announce you that the new album of the English indie Rock band , the Arctic Monkeys is going to be released this month, precisely the 5Th of June.

Their different and explosive music encloses the Indie Rock genre up to its top . The name of the album “ Suck it and See”, already anticipates an interesting soundtrack. According to the NME the band was uncertain of what title to chose for their new record. They were debating between” The Rain-Shaped Shimmer Trap”, “The Thunder-Suckle Fuzz Canyon”, “The Blondo-Sonic Rape Alarm”, and “Thriller”,

The band begin to work in this album since 2010, and it is a follow up of their 2009′s ‘Humbug’ album. Alex Turner the vocalist and songwriter explained that they used a different method this time. He explained that the band connected more in a way that they focus on preparing the songs by doing a lot of rehearsal together, rather than spending hours in the studio.

According with NME, They say that this album is a Arctic Monkeys have said they believe their new album ‘Suck It And See’ is a “balance between their first three albums.”

On the show “Zane Lowe’s, on BBC Radio 1 , Alex Turner commented: “I think the new album is a balance between our first three. There’s nothing about taxi ranks or anything like that, but there’s a bit of the standpoint I had on those early songs and the sense of humour, but also there’s a bit of the ‘Humbug’ stuff which is kind of off in the corners.”

This are the 12 tracks featured in the album:
