The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

San Francisco, U.S.A. — Revision3 has announced the launch of a new, tech-focused, YouTube original channel, ‘Tech Feed’. Working with new and existing Revision3 show creators, ‘Tech Feed’ aims to build a robust, tech-focused channel comprised of various shows, short and long format, featuring multiple episodes per day about the latest tech, gadgets and gear, news and commentary, car tech, cyber-crime and security, survival tech, and more.

The main thrust of the programming will be daily tech segments focusing on news of the day, reviews of software and hardware, unboxing of hot new products as well as interviews with leading experts in the tech industry. The segments will feature news anchors, as well as recurring guests such as Patrick Norton and Veronica Belmont, from Tekzilla. In addition, ‘Tech Feed’ will offer 6 individual weekly series that focus on different angles of technology, from news commentary to car tech, cyber-crime and security and survival tech.

“We are excited to launch this original programming for YouTube, our long-standing distribution partner”, said Revision3 CEO Jim Louderback. “Drawing on our existing stable of top-notch online video stars, has given us the ability to develop an unrivaled, premium Tech content destination, with something for every Revision3 viewer.”

Revision3 will leverage existing fans to help build an audience for these new shows – for example, using favorite hosts to make guest appearances and creating contests and promotional campaigns to engage community.

Weekly shows include:

Fact or Fictional with Veronica Belmont - Veronica Belmont, beloved tech maven, Tekzilla host, former CNET star, and current host of Sword and Laser on Geek and Sundry, will look at the cool inventions from your favorite movies, TV shows, books, and comics and ask, “is this really possible?” and, if not, why not? Each episode will feature a piece of technology from pop culture, nominated by the audience. From Hoverboards and Pre-Cogs, to Replicants and Time Machines, Veronica will explore the possible, or impossible link between the invented tech and the real world.

Soldier’s Tech Battlefield - Mark Watson is a trusted tech geek serving in the US Army Reserves. As host of one of the longest running technology demo and review shows, Soldier Knows Best, Mark has amassed a large and loyal fan base since his launch in 2008. In each episode of Tech Battlefield, Mark will compare two popular and/or competing tech devices or software and he’ll give a rundown of the pros and cons. At the end of each episode he will get the audience involved by asking which gadget they think wins, and why.

Driven – Hosted by Jon Rettinger, a well-known expert in the tech world, and host of TechnoBuffalo, Driven will focus on a new car’s exterior/interior design, tech, and functions, as well as its price, drivability, and who it’s for. What are the options and tech, suspension and power, and build quality? How does it drive? Informational and casually entertaining, each episode aims to educate the viewer in an engaging way. Covering major car shows, industry news, and featuring experts/interviews, Driven will keep the audience abreast of happenings in the industry and will also answer questions from the audience, contemplate future tech in autos, and discuss automotive tech in pop culture.

SuRRvival Gear - Hosted by Richard Ryan, from RatedRR and Totally Sketch, SuRRvival Gear, via Richard, an adventurer, explosive specialist and weapons guru from the back-country of Tennessee, will look at how tech can be used in survival situations. Each episode will cover tech that range from necessities to wish list items for survival. Richard will demo, review, and test tech in the studio as well as mock survival situations and will feature varied settings, from desert, forest, coastal, snow and other locations.

Threat Wire - Darren Kitchen and Shannon Morse, from Hak5, host a show covering security issues targeted towards the consumer audience, those that can’t be bothered to change their Facebook security settings. This show will cover internet security issues and news from the practical as well as the tinfoil hat angles. In today’s dangerous identity thieving internet environment, this will be a “can’t miss” show.

downLOADED - Each week, journalists, CEOs, media stars and other luminaries from the Bay Area tech scene, and beyond, will sit down at a roundtable and dissect the week’s digital, technical and social news in a live, lightening round format. Hosted by tech journalist, and Revision3 CEO, Jim Louderback.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Maryland, U.S.A. — They say “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” but that’s not necessarily true for these cheaters, who have been exposed on casino floor. This August, Destination America slots an all-new series exploring the elaborate new measures casino security employs to beat them at their own game. Cheating Vegas, premiering Sunday, August 19 at 10 PM E/P, takes viewers behind the scenes of casinos to reveal real attempts at deception and foul play. Using exclusive surveillance footage and jailhouse interviews with former cheaters, as well as first-person accounts from accomplices, and casino owners, Cheating Vegas carefully documents recent scandals that were no ruse for the eye in the sky.

“Vegas may be the entertainment capital of the world, but it’s also a quintessential part of America’s character,” said Marc Etkind, SVP of Content Strategy for Destination America. “Destination America strives to showcase people and places that embody the American spirit through adventure, innovation, heroism, humor, or riskiness. Cheating Vegas goes to show that certainly the only thing riskier than gambling at a casino is trying to cheat at one!”

Each episode of Cheating Vegas features cheating attempts that range from double-dealing card players to chip counterfeiters and inside jobs resulting in massive heists. The one thing each situation has in common: the security camera does not lie. And with tens of thousands of cameras stationed around the city itself, nothing slips under the radar.-more-

The episode line-up for Cheating Vegas is as follows:

Insiders

Premieres Sunday, August 19 at 10pm E/P
Casino employees and other “insiders” give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at gaming crimes, including the head of surveillance at The Aria, where thousands of cameras and high-tech systems are in place to create a cheat-proof casino. Also, investigators crack the crimes of the Tran Organization, who used corrupt card dealers to bilk casinos out of $7 million in a “false shuffle” scheme. And Arizona State basketball star Stevin Smith trades a chance to be considered for the NBA for a quick cash payout in a college basketball point shaving scandal.

Game Changers

Premieres Sunday, August 26 at 10pm E/P
Security must stay one step ahead of the “game changers” – cheats who are devoted to the art of the scam, constantly reinventing casino tricks to counter the latest security measures – with investigators committed to tracking down notorious cons with clever devices. And while technology feeds this game of cat and mouse, sometimes cheats find a way to beat the system, like a former TV repairman who used an arsenal of homemade slot-machine devices to turn Vegas into his personal ATM. Viewers will also learn about a gang robbery that forever changed security measures in the cash cages.

Hall of Fame

Premieres Monday, September 3 at 10pm E/P
Featuring the most brazen cheaters in Vegas, viewers will meet an all-star line-up of cons, from a man who rigged old-school mechanical slot machines for an estimated haul of nearly $10 million, to a daring duo who made casino-cheating history as the first to successfully transform $1 casino chips by “minting” them into any denomination they chose. Then there’s the The Biker Bandit, who dressed in full motorcycle garb to rob two different casinos including The Bellagio, where he escaped from with $1.5 million in playing chips.

Cheating Vegas is produced by Destination America and LMNO Cable Group, Inc. For LMNO, Lisa Bourgoujian is executive producer. For Destination America, Caroline Perez is director of development, Jeanie Vink is executive producer, Sara Kozak is SVP of production, Marc Etkind is SVP of content strategy, and Henry Schleiff is president and general manager.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

For centuries, mankind has looked to the skies and wondered, “are we alone in the universe?” In one month SCIENCE, a division of Discovery Communications, partners with TED and SETI Institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), to enlist like-minded individuals everywhere to tackle this defining question with Are We Alone?, a breakthrough multimedia initiative.

“Are We Alone?” is timed to support a major new resource called SETI Live which will empower and mobilize “citizen scientists” from all walks of life to join the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

SCIENCE’s month of programming begins on-air on Tuesday, March 6 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT) with the world premiere of Morgan Freeman’s ‘Through The Wormhole: Will We Survive First Contact?’ forecasting man’s first encounter with an extraterrestrial life form. Next, renowned experts including Nick Sagan and SETI Institute’s Dr. Jill Tarter come together to explore how alien life might communicate with Earth in the debut of ‘Alien Encounters’.

The two-part event airs Tuesday, March 13, and Tuesday, March 20 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT). Finally, SCIENCE concludes this month of all-new programming by presenting firsthand accounts from NASA astronauts who witnessed the mysterious with ‘NASA’S Unexplained Files’ on Tuesday, March 27 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT).

In addition to the programming, ‘Are We Alone?’ brings viewers into the search for extraterrestrial life – deeper and more profoundly than ever before – by supporting the introduction of the SETI Live platform, developed by Zooniverse. SETI Live will enable members of the public to analyze data coming from the Allen Telescope Array (ATA).

This March, SETI will work with live data and call upon citizen scientists to identify potential signals from extraterrestrials. By the end of the month, the real-time analysis of community members will actually decide what the ATA observes next. Both Science’s programming and links on sciencechannel.com will drive traffic to SETI Live.

‘Are We Alone?’ started with a wish that Center for SETI Research director, Dr. Jill Tarter, made at the TED Conference in response to winning the annual TED Prize. Dr. Tarter sought help in her mission to trigger the most meaningful search for extraterrestrial intelligence to-date by uniting all individuals who have ever looked to the sky and thought, “are we alone in the universe?”

Answering SETI’s call was the thought-leading TED group that then enlisted SCIENCE, entertainment’s home for deep science content. Together, the three organizations have combined for a multimedia, call-to-action campaign that will mobilize those curious about life beyond Earth to turn their passion into action.

‘Are We Alone?’ Episode Description

‘Throught The Wormhole: Will We Survive First Contact?’: World Premiere Tuesday, March 6 at 10 PM (ET/PT)

Mankind longs for proof that we are not alone in the universe, but the moment of first contact will irrevocably change the world as we know it.. Whether that is a bad thing for humanity or the beginning of a great future is the subject of much debate. In this episode we’ll meet scientists probing the big questions: Will the alienswe encounter be warlike? How will we talk to creatures with whom we share no common ground? Could they have come here already? And can we visit aliens on their own turf?

‘Alien Encounters’

Part 1- The Message World Premiere on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 PM (ET/PT)

Part 2- The Arrival World Premiere on Tuesday, March 20 at 10 PM (ET/PT)

In two dramatic hours, ‘Alien Encounters’ lays out a plausible hypothetical scenario for a first contact event. What would really happen if we got a message from space? How will humans react when we learn that a message from a distant technology or a spacecraft is on its way to Earth? Will humans learn from aliens, or become colonial subjects?

Some of the world’s leading astrophysicists, astrobiologists, and sci-fi writers help unravel the scientific, cultural and psychological impact of this world-changing global event. This show is made in cooperation with The SETI Institute which was founded in 1984 and had renowned astrophysicist Carl Sagan as one of its Board of Trustee Members. Carl’s son Nick is now following in his father’s footsteps wondering, “How will we meet our galactic neighbors?”

‘NASA’S Unexplained Files’: World Premiere Tuesday, March 27 at 10 PM (ET/PT)

Countless mysterious objects have been caught by NASA’s cameras. In this special, we’ll reveal NASA’s top ten unexplained encounters using original footage and groundbreaking interviews with astronauts and scientists. Can these phenomena be explained away through science and detective work? Or have NASA’s cameras potentially captured the first traces of extraterrestrial life?
