The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has announced the initial presenters, performers and ticketing information for the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, to be held at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 18, 2013. The ceremony will honor this year’s recently announced inductees Heart, Albert King, Randy Newman, Public Enemy, Rush and Donna Summer, as well as Lou Adler and Quincy Jones, this year’s recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement. Special guests at the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction are set to include John Mayer and Gary Clark Jr., who will perform for King, with Mayer giving the induction speech; 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Don Henley, who will induct Newman; Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson, who will perform in honor of Summer; and Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters, who will induct Rush. More details about performances, additional presenters and special guests will be announced at a later date.

The public on-sale will begin on Friday, February 1 at 10 a.m. PST. To purchase tickets, visit Ticketmaster or charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000. There will be a four-ticket limit on all orders. Additionally, three levels of VIP packages will be available through Ticketmaster.

All inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a nonprofit organization that exists to educate visitors, fans and scholars from around the world about the history and continuing significance of rock and roll music. It carries out this mission both through its operation of a world-class museum that collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets this art form; andthrough its library and archives, as well as its educational activities.

The induction ceremony will be presented on HBO on Saturday, May 18 at 9pm EST/PST.

New York, U.S.A. — VH1′s beloved franchise ” VH1 Divas “ caught dance fever at the L.A. Shrine Auditorium Sunday night for a live, concert event filled with performances, theatrics, and a roster of musicians and actors ready to boogie down to benefit The VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The star-studded affair incorporated performances from today’s biggest hits and dance classics by host Adam Lambert, Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, Jordin Sparks, and was accompanied by House DJ Havana Brown.

The evening included an incredible line-up of performers ready to shake their groove thing for a good cause, including  Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson, Ledisi, Melanie Fiona.

VH1 “You Oughta Know” Artist Metric, Paloma Faith, Pitbull, Iggy Azalea, and Bootsy Collins. Special appearances by L.A. Reid, Amber Riley, Ellie Kemper, Elisha Cuthbert, Kat Graham, Kelly Osbourne, NeNe Leakes, Stacy Keibler, Jenna Dewan Tatum, Brandy, Paula Abdul, Sheila E. and La La Anthony rounded out the disco-themed night.

Adam Lambert kicked off the night with a cabaret themed “Let’s Dance,” followed by a special introduction to Kelly Clarkson’s latest single “Catch My Breath.” With a genuinely enthusiastic Kelly Osbourne introducing one of her favorite groups “Blondie,” VH1 You Oughta Know artist Metric brought the house down with their rendition of “Heart of Glass.” Donning a studded jacket and rocker attitude, Miley Cyrus commanded the room with her vivacious delivery of “Rebel Yell” by rock god Billy Idol.

Newly inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, diva legend Donna Summer created some of the biggest dance hits guaranteed to get the crowd going. Kelly Rowland, Adam Lambert, and Keri Hilson paid tribute to one of the greats with a musical medley of “I Feel The Love,” “Bad Girls,” “She Works Hard The Money,” “Love To Love You Baby,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Last Dance.” An emotional Brandy introduced Jordin Sparks, Ledisi and Melanie Fiona for a power-driven tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The trio dazzled with an electric performance of “I’m Every Woman,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,”  “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay,” and “How Will I Know.”

After two hours of non-stop dancing and entertainment, Pitbull closed the show in style with his hit “Don’t Stop The Party,” leaving the night on a high note.

As in previous years, this edition of “VH1 Divas” will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping music education alive in American public schools. To date, VH1 Save The Music has provided more than $49.5 million in new musical instruments to 1,850 public schools in more than 128 school districts around the country, impacting the lives of over 2.1 million children.

The queen of Disco, Donna Summer, died this morning in Florida, after a long battle with lung cancer, at the age of 63. Even though Summer was fighting against her illness for a long time, the news of her death is somehow surprising. Summer had always been very discrete about the state of her health, and the fact that she was working on a new album gave a positive impression about her well-being. The late musician is survived by her husband, Bruce Sudano, three daughters, and four grandchildren.

Donna Summer was the undisputed queen of disco music, which developed during the ‘70s and the ‘80s. Summer was also a five-time Grammy winner, and the first female artist to win the Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance, in 1980, for “Hot Stuff”. In 2004 Summer was elected to the Dance Music Hall of Fame. She had an extraordinary career, with her biggest hits, such as “Last Dance,” “She Works Hard for the Money”, and “Bad Girls,” spreading over the ‘70s and ‘80s.

“Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith,” the singer’s family said in a statement today. “While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.”

The internet community had a strong reaction to the death of the late singer, with fans and musicians expressing their sorrows thru the web channels. Among others, Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers tweeted “woah! donna summer gone to the great beyond!!! chuck brown then donna summer they’re gonna be dancing in heaven!!! i love donna summer RIP.” Musician and producer Nile Rodgers wrote, “For the last half hour or so I’ve been lying in my bed crying and stunned. Donna Summer RIP,” and musician Questlove of The Roots tweeted, “I know that the whole ‘disco sucks’ stuff left a bad taste in the mouths of some. But Summer’s work was really a credible legacy.”

Donna Summer had become an icon for the gay community; her death falls on the International Day Against Homophobia, held every year on May 17. When asked in an interview with Clay Cane how she reconciled her being Christian with the acceptance for her gay fans, Summer replied “I don’t think I have to reconcile them. I just accept people for who they are. The Bible says you got to love everybody; it doesn’t make any exceptions, so I don’t make any exceptions.”

We would like to celebrate Donna Summer’s excellent career with one of her greatest hits of all times.
