The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Young Money/Cash Money recording artist, Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, has been named one of four new hosts on BET’s 106 & Park. The rapper will join fellow music artist Mykel “Miss Mykie” Gray as well as Detroit radio personalities Jordan “Shorty Da Prince” Johnson and Kimberly “Paigon” Walker in replacing Terrence Jenkins and Rocsi Diaz. It was announced in May that Jenkins and Diaz would be leaving the show to pursue other endeavors. Jenkins has joined E! News as a correspondent, while Diaz is rumored to be a finalist to host X-Factor.

Bow Wow, who has appeared on the popular cable music show more than any other entertainer, seemed to be a natural choice. His label boss, Bryan “Baby” Williams agrees.

“In addition to being a great rapper, he is a natural personality with great star power and style,” Williams told AllHipHop.com. “He brings a new air to the network and my brother ‘Slim’ and I couldn’t be more proud. This is another great example of YMCMB expanding our presence in the television and film world.”

While it is nice to have the support of the bosses, no one is more proud and excited for this new opportunity than Bow Wow. “I am very excited to take on this new journey in my career with BET,” he said. “I’m all about branding myself and not just in music, but in TV and movies. Everyone always wants to compare me to the Fresh Prince, well now they can call me the Fresh Prince of 106 & Park. Get ready for a whole new world.”

In addition to his new hosting duties, Bow Wow will continue to make music. He will release his new album, Underrated, later this year or early next year. Also, he will continue his film career.

Though the other hosts may not be as well-known as Bow Wow, that is not to say that they are not accomplished in their own right. Gray is a Howard University alum, singer, songwriter, model and dancer. She has performed as an opening act for artists such as Caribbean sensation Sean Paul and Houston rapper Slim Thug. Walker is a graduate of Western Michigan University, former producer of “The Tom Joyner Morning Show” and “The Rickey Smiley Show” and radio host for Detroit’s Hot 107.5. Johnson was signed to Atlantic Records at the age of fifteen as a rapper. He went on to work as an on-air personality for Detroit’s Hot 102.5.

Bow Wow, also known as Mr. 106 & Park, was a surprise addition to the lineup; however, Gray, Walker and Johnson beat out thousands of hopefuls during a nationwide search which included online submissions and on-screen tests. Walker and Johnson have been affiliated with the show since December 2011 when they hosted BET’s Notarized. They also appeared on the Grammy’s red carpet as correspondents in early 2012. They, along with Gray and Bow Wow, will host five days a week. Check bet.com for more information including show times.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Just six years ago, Tom Cruise was infamously jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch on the Oprah Winfrey show, publicly declaring his undying love for then-girlfriend, Katie Holmes. Meanwhile, Katie was just as joyous publicly announcing that her dream as a little girl was to one day marry Tom Cruise. The whirlwind romance blossomed and soon the two were married. Now with one child that they have together, it looks like the two haven’t had the fairytale ending they had once anticipated.

Just two weeks ago, Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise after their five year marriage, while Cruise was filming a movie in Iceland. Reports have speculated that Cruise was shocked by Holmes’ filing.

Now the main concern is their six-year-old daughter Suri and a custody battle, as well as raising eyebrows that wonder if Scientology played a role in Holmes’ decision.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Holmes used a disposable cell phone to keep in touch with her attorneys, and she has hired three different law firms in three separate states. Last week, a settlement was reached regarding custody, and Holmes was granted primary custody of the little girl while Cruise was given generous visitation rights. Holmes also was granted the leading role in how to raise their daughter. She can decide whether to raise her with the beliefs and ideals of Catholicism— which is how Holmes was raised— or with Scientology— which Cruise is extremely devout to.

On Monday, “the former Hollywood power couple requested privacy and said they have “respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

Cruise’s attorney, Bret Fields, denies that Scientology played a role in the couple’s divorce. And even though the former couple has publicly announced that they are going to work together to raise Suri, many are questioning how this can be done with their conflicting beliefs. According to reporter Mark Rathbun of The Daily News, “It’s a very coded statement, especially when they say they are going to respect each other’s beliefs. That is not allowed in Scientology. He’s prohibited from respecting others’ beliefs if he’s going to raise Suri in Scientology. There’s no neutral ground.”

Additionally, an unknown source close to Holmes, told E! News, that the 33-year-old was “never truly comfortable” with the religion. It was additionally stated, “It was something she accepted and put up with for many years because it was important to Tom,” the source said, adding, “It wasn’t that she was against Scientology… but she also didn’t want it to be her everything, and for Tom, in some ways, it was.”

In Holmes’ efforts not to confuse Suri with their different beliefs, Holmes has requested that her staff accompany their daughter while she is visiting Cruise.
