The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

New York, U.S.A. – What does it mean to be Hispanic? The final season of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr., the PBS television series that explores issues of race and identity through the genealogy of some of America’s best-known personalities, seeks to answer this question.

Through the family histories of actors Michelle Rodriguez and Adrian Grenier, and Linda Chavez – an author, syndicated newspaper columnist and political analyst for FOX News — host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. investigates American identities that took shape long before the Mayflower arrived at Plymouth Rock.

The three subjects of Sunday’s episode all share Spanish colonial roots, yet each views him or herself very differently: as Native American, Puerto Rican, Dominican, or simply Latino.

Crisscrossing Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and the American Southwest, Professor Gates reveals underlying connections that show how Hispanic identity has emerged from the tangled histories of European, Native-American, and African peoples.

Such connections drive home the point that Gates makes in this series, as well as in his previous television productions: despite our diverse backgrounds and racial differences, Americans are much more deeply related than we commonly acknowledge.

In the past nine weeks of the series, viewers learned that married couple and award-wining actors Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are distant relatives. Viewers saw how CNN anchor Dr. Sanjay Gupta, comedian Margaret Cho and media mogul Martha Stewart had similar ancestral stories, though their roots led to completely different parts of the globe.

The series also showed how Harry Connick and Branford Marsalis , musicians and best friends from New Orleans, both had European ancestors who immigrated to the slave-era South in 1850. And viewers discovered that musician John Legend and comedian Wanda Sykes shared dramatic, long-lost stories of freed black slaves in their respective family histories.

For this Sunday’s episode, the Finding Your Roots research teams trace the families of Chavez, Grenier, and Rodriguez back in time to uncover parallel stories about the interactions between Spaniards, Native Americans, and Africans in the New World. Chavez’s roots lead from bootleggers in Depression-era New Mexico all the way back to Spain in the 1500s — by way of the Pueblo Indians who the Spanish sought to suppress.

Grenier’s ancestry also has a strong connection to Native American tribes in the Southwest. His 11th great-grandfather, Hernan Martin Serrano, arrived in New Mexico in 1598 with the territory’s controversial “founder,” Don Juan de Onate — and found himself marrying into the Indians he came to fight.

Similarly, Rodriguez’s family is steeped in the racial politics in the Caribbean, where generations of her ancestors interbred — with cousins marrying cousins — to keep out African and Native American blood. In the end, Gates reveals that none of these families were as racially “pure” as they pretended to be — and that Hispanic identity is far more complex than we imagine.

Perhaps most surprising of all, Chavez’s ancestry links her to “Crypto-Jews” — Spanish Jews who converted to Catholicism to survive the Inquisition, yet continued to practice their religion in secret.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The producers of The Third Jihad: Radical Islam’s Vision for America have a direct response to media outlets that have referred to the critically-acclaimed documentary as an “anti-Islam” or “hateful” film.

“Claims that The Third Jihad is an anti-Islam film are ignorant and misinformed,” says Raphael Shore, Producer of The Third Jihad. “These claims are meant simply to defame the filmmakers and prevent the public from judging the film for themselves.”

The film opens with the following frame in bold letters for all viewers to read: “This is not a film about Islam. It is about the threat of radical Islam. Only a small percentage of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims are radical.” The film’s message urges the Muslim community to look within itself to root out the indoctrination that affects a minority of Muslims.

Narrator Dr. Zuhdi Jasser

“The New York Times and other media outlets are conveniently choosing to overlook the fact that the film isolates a small sector of the Muslim community, and more importantly that the film is narrated by Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, the founder and president of the American-Islamic Forum for Democracy [http://www.aifdemocracy.org ],” Shore added.

Dr. Jasser is a devout Muslim and a full-time physician and has served the United States of America admirably as medical officer in the US Navy and as an attending physician to the US Congress.

The documentary is founded on credible evidence presented by the FBI of a ‘Manifesto’ published by radicals calling for the implementation of extremist ideology-both violent and politicized-within the United States.

Yet the media are blasting the film’s usage by the New York Police Department in their counterterrorism training.

“There is a very good reason the NYPD selected to show The Third Jihad to nearly 1,500 police officers, and other law enforcement agencies have done the same,” Shore said. “The film deals with the very real process of radicalization and indoctrination of anti-American ideology taking place in some sectors of the Muslim community today.”

While many media outlets are presently taking a noticeably negative stance – before even watching the film – the film has been spotlighted in over 100 interviews since its release in 2009.

The film’s narrator, Zuhdi Jasser, has consistently appeared in mainstream media outlets including MSNBC, CNN and Fox News, and has published Op-Eds in numerous mainstream publications including the Wall Street Journal to point out concerning trends within the Muslim community.

Experts

Jasser is not the only credible expert to appear in The Third Jihad, nor is NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

The film’s producers conducted exclusive interviews with:

-Former Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge,

- Former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey

- Former NYC Mayor Rudolph Giuliani

- Former Associate Director of the FBI

- Former FBI Asst. Dir. of Public Affairs John Miller

- Senator Joseph Lieberman

- Professor Bernard Lewis

- New York Times Best-selling Author Ayaan Hirsi Ali

- Former CIA Officer Clare Lopez

- Former CIA Officer Wayne Simmons

- New York Times Best-selling Author Mark Steyn

- And more (http://tinyurl.com/about3J)

Screenings

Since its release in 2009, The Third Jihad has screened and continues to be screened at several hundred locations across the United States including at the Library of Congress, Museum of Tolerance, Directors’ Screen Guild, and the National Press Club.

The film previously aired on cable television’s AmericanLife TV Network, and is currently available on Netflix and Amazon OnDemand.

Praise

The film has also received notable praise from some of the nation’s leading policy makers.

“It is imperative that The Third Jihad reaches a mass audience in the U.S. so that the urgency of this threat becomes clear to the American public,” declared US Rep. Ros-Lehtinen (FL), Chairwoman of the House Foreign Relations Committee.

Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (AZ) said, “The Third Jihad alerts Americans to the dangers of Islamic radicalization in our own communities. Zuhdi Jasser is sounding the alarm before it is too late.”

Rudy Giuliani called the film, “a wake up call for America.”

“Those that have blasted the film are attempting to stifle an important debate about the internal state of the Muslim community in America, and whether politicized Islam and indoctrination pose tangible security threats,” Shore added.

“We hope that the general public will consider the sensitive content in the film, and will not simply accept the baseless innuendos being made in the media. We invite the general public to watch and judge the documentary for themselves.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Fox News and Google teamed up to add an interesting twist in the GOP debate that took place in Orlando, Florida. The debate included some interactive aspects which made it nothing like any previous debate. Google allowed the opportunity for citizens throughout the country to participate in the debate first-handedly and ask questions to the nine GOP presidential candidates via YouTube videos.

A total of 18,000 questions were sent in as text messages as well, according to the Official Google Blog. Some questions that many wanted answers to but which were excluded from previous debates were topics such as the education system, Palestine and Israel, and the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. These questions were aimed at challenging the candidates and getting them out of their comfort zone.

A former teacher from Georgia sent in a video that addressed the problem with the education system and all the candidates had the opportunity to expand on their views on this issue. Another question came from a gay soldier serving in Iraq who asked Rick Santorum if he would reinstate the ban on openly gay service members during his presidency.

A different video asked, “If you were forced to eliminate one department from the federal government which one would you eliminate and why?” Other questions were simply added in hopes to spice up the competition and add humor to the debate.

Maybe one of the most surprising questions of the night came from a citizen in a YouTube video who asked each candidate whom they would pick as their vice president if they were elected in 2012 for president.

Other features introduced by Google were elements such as showing the most searched trends, which were the platform for discussion within the debate. The most researched words were then presented in a “word cloud” that included words such as illegal, Israel, and economy.

During breaks between the debates, Google also had a feature that illustrated what people were searching for most while using the Internet. It demonstrated that coupons were being heavily searched for, most likely because many people are trying to save money wherever they can. Foreclosures were another highly searched topic and was searched much more than home loans.

This new interactive feature introduced in the Orlando debate allowed for people across the nation to present personal questions and also challenged the candidates to think on the spot. Overall, Google allowed for an out-of-the-ordinary debate, one of my personal favorites thus far.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The war of words continues between Sarah Palin and Karl Rove, leaving the rest of the Republican field gleefully happy. The latest battle between Mama Grizzly and Big Head began last weekend.

Rove mentioned on Fox News that he believed Palin would enter the Republican race for the presidential nomination. After that speculation by Rove, Palin’s camp took offense.

“Three years ago DC pundits predicted with glee the demise of Sarah Palin’s political career,” read a note posted on the SarahPAC website earlier this week. “This past weekend their tune changed, citing false information that she has made a decision and set a date regarding a future campaign.

Any professional pundit claiming to have ‘inside information’ regarding Governor Palin’s personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public.”

On Wednesday night, Rove used Fox News as his platform again to respond to the statement on Palin’s website. “I’m mystified. Look, she is all upset about this, saying I’m somehow trying to sabotage her — sabotage her in some way and that how dare I speculate on her future.

Look, if she doesn’t want to be speculated about as a potential presidential candidate, there’s an easy way to end the speculation. Simply say, ‘I’m not running.’”

Rove went on to say, “I’m just speculating that the kind of schedule she’s keeping leads me to believe that it’s more likely than not that she’s going to be a candidate.” He added, “And I suspect if we didn’t speculate about her, she’d be upset and try and find a way to get us to speculate about her.”

Wow. For once in his life, Rove actually makes sense on something. Palin’s extreme reaction is not only over the top, it makes no sense. She has purposely not made her decision public about a run for the White House for months. She claims she has not made up her mind yet, but most of us know that is not correct.

The entire country, or at least all of those in the media, has speculated on Palin’s political future so why is she super upset at Rove? Did he actually have some sort of inside information?

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

After Michele Bachmann’s crucial win in the straw poll in Iowa on Saturday, she made the rounds on the Sunday morning shows answering some difficult questions with her well rehearsed sound bites.

Bachmann, the Minnesota congresswoman, defended her hypocrisy on federal stimulus money on Fox News. She also stated that even though she was adamantly against raising the debt ceiling, she never advocated default. Really?

On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace noted the recent rating downgrade by credit rating agency Standard & Poor. Bachmann continued to defend her position, stating that she put forth her own plan that would have denied an increase in the debt ceiling and instead required the Treasury Department to prioritize payments to U.S. creditors, Social Security recipients, Medicare beneficiaries and the U.S. military.

Wallace pointed out that doing that would have required defunding a majority of government programs, but Bachmann was undeterred. “Doesn’t that tell you how bad off the U.S. is — the fact that we’re overspending to that amount?” Bachmann said.

Wallace asked Bachmann how she would work with Democrats to increase the credit rating. Bachmann provided an interesting answer, saying she would “work tirelessly” to ensure that the Republican Party picked up 13 seats in the Senate, giving Republicans a filibuster-proof majority to enact her agenda.

“That would send a very strong signal to the market,” Bachmann said.

Bachmann later appeared on “This Week” on ABC News. Jake Tapper, guest anchor this week, asked Bachmann what specific programs she would cut to reduce the federal budget deficit. Bachmann suggested that Medicare and Social Security would be on the chopping block.

“Right now, we’re gonna reform entitlements,” Bachmann said. “Medicare, Medicaid, they have to be changed. Why should we continue to run these program the way we did 45 years ago? Systems have changed.

We can — we can make these far more efficient than what they are. Social Security is another program, 80 years old. Why would we continue to run it in the same way we did 80 years ago? Let’s modernize it so it’s there for people who depend on it.”

Bachmann wrapped up the talk show circuit with an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Host David Gregory pressed Bachmann for follow up on a question she received during the debate on Thursday night about the roles wives play.

In a 2006 speech, Bachmann had said that wives had to be submissive to their husbands. “My husband said, now you need to go and get a post-doctorate degree in tax law. Tax law, I hate taxes. Why should I go and do something like that? The Lord says, ‘Be submissive.’ Wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.”

Gregory played the sound bite and asked, “Is that your view for women in America? Is that your vision for them?”

“Submission — that word means respect,” Bachmann replied.

Gregory said that in his discussions with his own wife, the two words are not equivalent.

“In our house, it is,” Bachmann said.

Gregory asked: “His word goes?”

“Well, both of our words go,” Bachmann said. “We respect each other. We’re a good team together.”

And this is who the GOP wants for president. A woman that believes submissive means the same as respect and a woman who will follow her husband’s orders. Who exactly is running? Bachmann or her husband?

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The massacre in Norway has dominated media attention. The unexplained killings are horrific and tragic. Within minutes of the news, the speculation about the gunman began in the United States. He was labeled, almost immediately, as a Muslim. This says more about us as a nation than the tragedy in Norway. However, the gunman turned out to be a Christian- a white, blond-haired Christian. So much for the new stereotypical boogeyman.

But, Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly was not happy with the Christian label. O’Reilly criticized the media for labeling Anders Behring-Breivik, the Norwegian killer, as a Christian, saying that such a thing was “impossible.” Even though Breivik labeled himself a Christian in his 1,500 page manifesto and stated he was coming from a Christian perspective. The Norwegian police also called Breivik a Christian. However, this was not enough evidence for Mr. O’Reilly.

“No one believing in Jesus commits mass murder,” O’Reilly said on his Fox show Monday. “The man might have called himself a Christian on the net, but he is certainly not of that faith…we can find no evidence, none, that this killer practiced Christianity in any way.” This was said with a complete straight face. No one believing in Jesus commits mass murder? Seriously? The list is endless but the Crusades sort of stand out to me.

O’Reilly particularly criticized the New York Times for calling Breivik a “Christian extremist.”

“So why is the angle being played up? Two reasons: First, the liberal media wants to make an equivalency between the actions of Breivik and the Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh and al Qaeda. The left wants you to believe that fundamentalists Christians are a threat just like crazy jihadists are,” O’Reilly stated.

“In fact, in the “New York Times” today an analysis piece says that some believe we have overreacted to the Muslim threat in the world. Of course, that’s absurd. Jihadists have killed tens of thousands of people all over the world. The Taliban, Iran and elements in Pakistan use governmental power to support terrorism by Muslims. But the left-wing press wants to compare nuts like Breivik and McVeigh to state-sponsored terrorism and worldwide jihad.”

O’Reilly called this media attack “dishonest and insane.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The American right-wing talk-show host Glenn Beck prompted outrage and disgust when he compared the victims from the Utøya shooting to Hitler Youth during his radio program on Monday, according to Haaretz.

Beck described the incident “as a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth. I mean who sends their kids to a political camp? Disturbing.”

The former press secretary to Norway’s prime minister, Torbjørn Eriksen, called the comment “a new low” for the multimillionaire darling of the Tea Party movement who is known for his offensive outbursts and conspiracy-filled rants on Fox News. He was earlier this year forced to leave the channel.

“Young political activists have gathered at Utøya for over 60 years to learn about and be part of democracy, the very opposite of what the Hitler Youth was about,” Mr. Eriksen told The Daily Telegraph. “Glenn Beck’s comments are ignorant, incorrect and extremely hurtful.”

A Washington-based campaign group, The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, have denounced the comment as “absolutely disgusting.”

Beck’s is notorious for his outrageous statements. Last year, he called Barack Obama a “racist” with a “deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.” He later stated that he regretted the comment and also apologized for mocking the president’s daughter Malia.

However, according to The Daily Telegraph, he reportedly refused to apologize to Senator John McCain’s daughter for simulating vomiting at her cancer-awareness advert, saying she should “wear a burka” because of her apparent unattractiveness.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The FBI announced on Thursday that it will launch a probe into News Corporation, Fox News parent company, after the phone hacking scandal that has rocked the media world. Allegations have begun to surface that News Corp. hacked into private citizens’ voicemail including victims of 9/11. The public outrage has been loud and clear demanding an investigation into Rupert Murdoch’s giant media empire.

U.S. Senators Jay Rockefeller, Barbara Boxer, Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg (all Democrats) have called for various investigations. “My bet is we’ll find some criminal stuff,” Senator Rockefeller told CNN. “This is going to be a huge issue.”

Senator Frank Lautenberg wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and asked for the Department of Justice to investigate New Corp. for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA.) Senator Boxer has also requested the FCPA to investigate.

Even some Republicans are beginning to throw Murdoch under the proverbial bus. Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who is not known for his impartiality, wrote a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller. In it, he compared Murdoch’s brand of “fair and balanced” journalism to a criminal enterprise. “According the recent reports, journalists working for the News of the World solicited a New York police officer to gain access to the content of private phone records of 9/11 victims,” wrote King. “It is revolting to imagine that members of the media would seek to compromise the integrity of a public official for financial gain in the pursuit of yellow journalism,” He also said the allegations, could merit “felony charges.”

News Corp. continues to do damage control. The company is no longer trying to acquire controlling interest in British Sky Broadcasting. In England, the public outcry over the hacking scandal was even more boisterous than in the United States. Parliament also voted unanimously to disapprove the takeover forcing News Corp. to abandon their bid. News Corp. will likely have to give up all of their U.K. newspapers now that most of their advertisers are jumping ship.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann both made recent appearances on Fox News to hype up their unlikely presidential campaigns.

Rick Santorum discussed his views on global warming during an interview with Glen Beck. Last Thursday, Santorum told Beck, “There is no such thing as global warming,” apparently keeping with a similar theme. Earlier in the month, Santorum told Rush Limbaugh that climate change was “junk science.” During the interview with Beck, Santorum also believes that there is enough oil, coal and natural gas to last for centuries. He proudly stated, “Drill everywhere” when questioned about oil.

Sadly, Michele Bachmann has made her campaign official and has begun to surge in the polls in key states. Although she has said some offensive and ridiculous things, the majority of the media does not press her on these statements. However, Fox News’ Chris Wallace did ask Bachmann on Sunday is she was a flake. Bachmann, taking a page out of the Sarah Palin playbook, seemed offended by the question. “I think that would be insulting to say something like that because I’m a serious person,” she explained. She then went on to tout all the ways in which she was, indeed, serious.

“I’m 55 years old. I’ve been married 33 years,” she said. “I’m not only a lawyer, I have a post-doctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary. I’ve worked in serious scholarship … my husband and I have raised five kids, we’ve raised 23 foster children. We’ve applied ourselves to education reform. We started a charter school for at-risk kids. I’ve also been a state senator and member of the United States Congress for five years.”

The question did not provide any particular answers except Bachmann’s ability at turning any question around to use her talking points as her answer. Wallace tried again. “Do you recognize that now that you are in the spotlight in a way that you weren’t before that you have to be careful,” he said, with the tone of a professional counselor as opposed to an interviewer.

“Of course a person has to be careful with the statements they make,” replied Bachmann. “I think now will be an opportunity to speak fully on the issues. I look forward to that.”

Chris Wallace received criticism from all sides for that question and issued an apology within hours. “A lot of you were more than perturbed, you were upset and felt that I had been rude to her,” he said. “And since in the end it’s really all about the answers, and not about the questions, I messed up, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any disrespect.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart appeared on Fox News Sunday to talk about media bias with host Chris Wallace. The Comedy Central man held his own during the interview boldly calling out Fox News for their constant stream of misinformation.

Early in the interview, Wallace flashed a previous quote of Stewart’s calling Fox News a “relentless agenda-driven 24 hour news opinion propaganda delivery system,” and asked Stewart, “Where do you come up with this stuff?”

Stewart responded, “Uh, it’s actually quite easy.”

Later, when Wallace argued that a clip about Sarah Palin from the Daily Show was political commentary, Stewart told Wallace, “You’re insane… Here’s the difference between you and I. I’m a comedian first. My comedy is informed by an ideological background, there’s no question about that. But the thing that you will never understand…is that Hollywood, yeah, they’re liberal, but that’s not their primary motivating force. I’m not an activist. I am a comedian.”

“Do I want my voice heard?” Stewart continued later. “Absolutely, that’s why I got into comedy. Am I an activist, in your mind? A partisan ideological activist?” Wallace responded, “Yeah.” “Okay, then I disagree with you,” Stewart said. “You can’t understand, because of the world that you live in, that there is not a designed ideological agenda on my part to affect partisan change because that’s the soup you swim in. And I appreciate that, I understand it. It reminds me of in ideological regimes, they can’t understand that there is free media other places because they receive marching orders.”

Later in the exchange, Stewart clearly got riled up and angry at Wallace about the misinformation that Fox News feeds its viewers. “The embarrassment is that I’m given credibility in this world because of the disappointment that the public has in what the news media does,” he said.

“I don’t think our viewers are the least bit disappointed with us,” Wallace said. “I think our viewers think, finally, they’re getting somebody who tells the other side of the story.”

“Who are the most consistently misinformed media viewers?” Stewart shot back, his voice rising. “The most consistently misinformed? Fox, Fox viewers, consistently, every poll.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The absolute worst part of the whole Anthony Weiner scandal is that Andrew Breitbart is getting media time. The ultimate dirtbag, even wins over Fox News Roger Ailes, feels that Weiner coming clean somehow vindicates him. Breitbart stated in his own news conference that he has never told “one provable lie.” What the hell this man is talking about? Media Matters has an entire guide doing just that, proving almost everything the scumbag says is a lie.

Breitbart runs a blog called Big Government. Although it often contains absolutely no facts and in many cases, it is completely made up rhetoric, Fox News regularly uses this drivel as a source further proving that that station is not a news network. Breitbart perpetuated the whole ACORN as something evil story that Fox quickly picked up and ran with. Claiming that ACORN was engaged in a child prostitution ring, Breitbart posted deliberately altered videos as “proof.” Breitbart ruthlessly attacked a Department of Education staffer for starting a gay rights organization and seems to be obsessed with “fisting.” The worst smear of all of Breitbart’s attack was against Shirley Sherrod. Using edited video, Breitbart made it appear that Sherrod, a Department of Agriculture employee, was using her position to discriminate against white farmers. Breitbart’s misleading video led to Sherrod’s forced resignation. Soon after, the entire video was released where it was clear that Breitbart purposely took Sherrod’s statements out of context. There are plenty more examples of this dirtbag’s lies and smears. He has told many, many very provable lies.

It is bad enough that Fox News actually takes this idiot seriously. But, now because of the Weiner-gate, other news outlets are actually listening to Breitbart. I woke up on Tuesday morning and saw him on CNN. Isn’t CNN still pretending to be an actual news network? That was some hard-hitting news journalism, asking Breitbart if he felt vindicated. This man received something that was factual this time. But, it was not real journalism but just some luck. He is wrong more times than he is right. Please, do not treat this man as if he uncovered some great story. The story was already unraveling and this dude had no part of it.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Despite the impending rapture, Fox News’ hosts Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck were busy with other conspiracies and causes. I am pretty sure the Fox pundits do not realize that there are actual statistics out there, instead choosing to pull random numbers out of thin air when it suits them. These same pundits pretend to be outraged when organizations such as Media Matters call them out on their made up numbers. It is a vicious cycle.

First up, we have Beck. Beck’s new project is Israel. He is planning a rally there in August. Yay, I have no idea either. President Barack Obama’s speech on the Middle East last week really set off Beck. Beck said that Obama’s Middle East policy would lead to the “destruction of Israel.” Beck also stated that policy was more proof that Obama was “not like” Beck’s viewers. He doesn’t mean race though, of course. “The key to understanding this president is colonialism,” Beck said on his show last Thursday. “And if you understand this president you will understand you are not like him. And it has nothing to do with the man’s color. It has everything to do with colonialism.”

Beck said he had previously not understood “the infatuation this president has with world change to stop the colonialists.”

Bill O’Reilly, not to be outdone by Beck’s brand of craziness, made another false statement about Muslims on his Thursday evening show. O’Reilly stated that half of the world’s Muslims want to “blow the hell” out of Muslims who want democracy and human rights. O’Reilly has always believed that the world has a “Muslim problem” and made the crazy assertion after a guest said that Obama should emphasize that there are Muslims who want liberty.

“For every Muslim in the world who wants democracy and human rights, there’s one who doesn’t,” O’Reilly responded. “And the one who doesn’t have any rules, and he’ll blow the hell out of the one who does. So that silences the good Muslims who see the danger from the Muslim world.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Sarah Palin is back on the attack against her nemesis, the “lamestream media.” Only a day after she announced that she was done complaining about the unfair media, she talked about the media again. And this time she used her slogan that got her into so much trouble following the Tucson shooting-she said she was ready to “reload.” In a Facebook post entitled, “Lamestream Media: Reload or White Flag?” Palin, or really her aide that writes her Facebook notes for her, begins the war with the media again.

“Friends, too often conservatives or Republicans in general come across as having the fighting instinct of sheep. I don’t,” Palin wrote last Thursday. “I was raised to believe that you don’t retreat when you’re on solid ground; so even though it often seems like I’m armed with just a few stones and a sling against a media giant, I’ll use those small resources to do what I can to set the record straight. The truth is always worth fighting for. Doing so isn’t whining or ‘playing the victim card’; it’s defending the truth in fairness to those who seek accurate information. I’ll keep attempting to correct misinformation and falsehoods about myself and my record, and I will certainly never shy from defending others who are unfairly attacked. This is in the name of justice.”

She went on to try to clarify her position and reframe her battle with the “liberal’ media.

“We must always remember the big picture. The media has always been biased. Conservatives – and especially conservative women – have always been held to a different standard and attacked,” Palin said. “Let’s just acknowledge that commonsense conservatives must be stronger and work that much harder because of the obvious bias. And let’s be encouraged with a sense of poetic justice by knowing that the ‘mainstream’ media isn’t mainstream anymore. That’s why I call it ‘lamestream,’ and the LSM is becoming quite irrelevant, as it is no longer the sole gatekeeper of information.”

Palin also addressed, somewhat indirectly, an insult directed at her by Bill Maher over the weekend, in which the comedian called her a “dumb twat.” When asked on Fox News about the incident, Palin declined to comment and instead said she was done whining about the media. However, on her Facebook page, she could not resist. “I won’t bother responding to it though, because it was made by he who reminds me of an annoying little mosquito found zipped up in your tent; he can’t do any harm, but buzzes around annoyingly until it’s time to give him the proverbial slap.”

Again, I ask—does Palin realize she is employed by the media??

The article Palin is “Reloading” against Media appeared first on The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Billionaire real estate mogul, reality television star, and now pretend presidential candidate, Donald Trump claimed last week that he once took part in a devious plan to undermine Muammar Gadhafi’s power by taking his money.

“I think I probably have more experience of anybody — whether I sell them real estate for tremendous amounts of money. I mean, I’ve dealt with everybody,” the billionaire real-estate mogul told Fox News Monday morning, touting his supposed foreign policy credentials. “And by the way, I can tell you something else. I dealt with Gadhafi. I rented him a piece of land. He paid me more for one night than the land was worth for two years, and then I didn’t let him use the land.”

“That’s what we should be doing. I don’t want to use the word ‘screwed’, but I screwed him,” Trump continued. “That’s what we should be doing.”

That sounds sort of impressive, but it is not true. In 2009, Trump came under inspection when he rented property to Gadhafi. After a rambling, conspiracy-theory-filled speech delivered at the U.N., Gadhafi planned to spend the night in Bedford, N.Y., where his agents pitched a giant Bedouin tent on a property owned by Trump. Local officials were unhappy at the news that their small town would be hosting an accused sponsor of terror and they ordered the tent be dismantled, claiming it violated building codes. Trump, at the time, claimed ignorance. He said he did not know he was renting his land to a dictator.

After a day of controversy, Trump then asked Gaddafi to go elsewhere. “We have requested that the tenant occupying the property in Bedford, N.Y. remove the tent that was erected. They have complied with this request. Additionally, Mr. Gadhafi will not be going to the property,” said Trump Organization spokeswoman Rhona Graff.

So is that how you screw a dictator, Mr. Trump? Your version of events sounds far more impressive than what actually happened. I guarantee Gadhafi got his money back.
