San Jose, U.S.A. — Leading publisher Namco Bandai Games, announced September 5, 2012, the release of Galaga Legions DX on the Windows Phone platform.

Galaga Legions DX refines the classic space shooter with fast-paced gameplay and hordes of Galaga aliens for the most action-packed entry in the series’ history. Galaga Legions DX is available on the Windows Phone Marketplace for $6.99; a trial version is also available as a free download.

Originally released in 2011 on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Galaga Legions DX challenges players to face off against thousands of Galaga aliens as they blast their way through three Areas, each with their own unique stages and Galaga formations.

With intuitive touchscreen controls, Windows Phone gamers will be able to try out a variety of offensive and defensive options, including Focus Fire, allowing the ship’s rate of fire to increase the closer they approach an enemy, enabling players to drill through the heart of an approaching alien swarm.

“Last year, Galaga Legions DX brought the classic arcade formula into the 21st century with spectacular graphics and truly intense gameplay, now we’re embarking on bringing the series to the exciting and bourgeoning Windows Phone Platform,” says, James Kucera, Head of Mobile, Namco Bandai Games America. “We’re excited to explore this new territory and bring the furious shooting action to a whole new set of players.”

In Galaga Legions DX, the player’s space ship is now outfitted with two special satellite guns that are always at the ship’s side and can flip between two firing modes with a gesture of the touchscreen. Both satellites will fire straight ahead in any direction the player points them in for head-on attacks, or switch to the alternate firing mode in which the satellites will mirror each other’s shots, which is ideal when the ship is surrounded in all directions.

In certain stages through the game, a black hole will appear. Shooting it will capture all the Galaga aliens on-screen and have them join the player’s legion to fight with them. The Galaga legion will provide ultimate firepower, but are easily destroyed.

Just in time for PAX, the release date has been set for Colour Bind, the unique puzzle game where gravity is determined not by mass, but by colour. Set for release through Steam and other digital distributors on September 24, Colour Bind is the pride and joy of Aussie developer Finn Morgan, who has been diligently working on the game for two years.
