The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Los Angeles, U.S.A — 2101 Records artist Havana Brown’s hit single “We Run The Night” has received the music industry’s coveted Platinum Award for exceeding 1,000,000 record sales in the United States. This is the first Platinum selling single for 2101 Records in the USA, a joint venture with Universal Music, which was founded in 2010 by multi Grammy-winning producer, musician, and songwriter, RedOne.

“We Run The Night” was released in April 2011 as Havana Brown’s debut single, and has garnered multi-Platinum recognition internationally. A reproduction of the Australian singer/DJ’s single “We Run The Night,” featuring American rapper Pitbull, also reached number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Chart and completed the longest climb up Billboard’s Top 40 chartin14 years, the third-longest overall. Brown, who is currently on tour with Pitbull, is expected to release her next hit single “You’ll Be Mine” (featuring R3hab) in the coming weeks.

While this is the first U.S. Platinum single for 2101 Records, the label has delivered multiple international hits and Platinum singles for Swedish-Congolese artist Mohombi, 2101′s first signed artist. Mohombi is expected to debut his work, in partnership with Cash Money records, in the US sometime next year. Additionally, RedOne has independently written and produced more than 50 international hit singles in the past five years, including 21 number one singles. He has collaborated with artists, including, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Akon, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Usher, among others.

“This is a major milestone for us at 2101 Records,” said 2101 Records Founder and CEO, RedOne. ”To see one of our artist’s debut single go Platinum in the U.S., possibly the toughest and most critical market in the world, validates every single reason why I love what I do each minute of every day.”

“Special shout out and many thanks to our amazing partners at Universal Republic - (Universal Australia) A&R Michael Taylor, (Universal Republic’s) Monty Lipman, Avery Lipman, Jim Rappo, Russell Fink,Wendy Goldstein, and Joel Klaiman and his fantastic radio team. Many congratulations to Havana Brown and her management Vince Deltito and Jeff Haddad, both of whom understood the importance of having a presence in the US market in order for us to accomplish this goal..we’re just getting started.” RedOne adds.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Harriet R. Lewis, Chairman of Grand Circle Foundation, is pleased to announce “Cuba: A Bridge Between Cultures”, a 12-day People-to-People program designed to foster meaningful cultural exchange between Americans and Cubans. The program, which operates in small groups of just 12-20 participants, begins at $3,995 with 75 departures currently scheduled between January-June and, subject to the renewal of OFAC License #CT-17899, from September-December 2012.

“Americans have long been curious about the mystique surrounding Cuba, especially those of us who grew up during the Castro years,” said Lewis. “We are honored to have the opportunity to bring Americans to Cuba and view our program as part of an important step toward a new beginning between our two countries.”

Grand Circle Foundation launched its People-to-People program last November after receiving license to do so from the Office of Foreign Assets Control. The Foundation initially limited participation to its top donors and supporters and ran four departures that garnered a 97 percent excellence rating from 80 participants.

Following the success of the launch, Grand Circle Foundation now opens the program to all Americans, although the program is geared to and paced for the 50-plus market. The program’s focus is on close cultural exchange between American participants and Cuban residents.

The itinerary includes five nights in Havana, Cuba’s capital city; two nights in Cienfuegos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is also known as La Perla del Sud (the Pearl of the South) for its gleaming harbor area and dignified ambience; and three nights in Trinidad, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and a colonial gem that recalls life in Cuba’s 19th-century glory days.

The program begins at $3,995 per person and includes a full schedule of People-to-People exchange meetings; roundtrip airfare from Miami; all accommodations; 24 meals; services of an English-speaking Cuban guide and a Grand Circle Foundation representative from the U.S.; transportation aboard a private, air-conditioned motor coach; and cultural diversities that include discussions with locals, museum visits, musical performances, and more.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Gamboa,Friday, March 25th, Local time: 3 p.m

Sweet, sweet Ecuadorian Chiquita:

Guess who is back? Well no time to lose anymore with absurdities! I think I stopped my letter yesterday whereas I was about to talk to you about Panama City.

Well, have a sit, cigarillos, patacones, and some salsa music because here comes my daily story! Once upon a time, there was a country named Cuba. Havana was its capital. Everyone was outside, chilling out, passing time, talking about what is happening in front of their eyes. Well, that is exactly as Panama City.

According to my wise father, « almost every city in South America takes Havana as a role model». Maybe that is true, I never was there, I just smoked a Romeo y Julietta cigar once. Anyway, so Panama city is big, you can see its Skylines from almost everywhere. The old part of the city looked like any old Spanish colony I guess. It had a commemoration place for the liberator, Simon Bolivar and another one for the conqueror ( Balboa in our case)

«No highway code, just my way» shall think people here. Seriously what a mess to drive, everyone is just doing whatever they want. Honestly, I promise you! Today I saw a guy who was driving through the grass and the flowers, just to pass three or four cars. And well finally he couldn’t reach the road anymore and jammed the traffic for thirty minutes. So classy!

What else? Ah yeah, funny thing which reminded me on Bangkok (Thailand) : Lottery. Maybe there is the same thing in your city, but in front of the supermarkets here, they are selling bunch of those tickets. I have never seen that in Paris, Berlin ,or any city where they sell Lotto! I don’t know, maybe it’s something which belongs to the countries from the “South” ( I’m sorry for this expression, I couldn’t say it with another terms, shall we stop to be hypocrite at last?)

Another funny detail : the advertisement. I already told you about those on TV, but well , on the street they are only about half naked women who’s talking up the goods of beers, beaches or anything else. Apparently, boobs are a great way of persuasion over here!

So when we walk into Panama city, we have the impression to be sometimes in Manhattan, sometimes in a old part in the Havana, or in some old European Mediterranean city.

It is like a rootless city ,and a rootless culture! But I will talk about it in my next letter!

In the meantime, I send you all my loveliness ( instead of affection, I’m sorry I hate that word ! Even if I know that sending loveliness doesn’t mean anything for Shakespeare! )
