The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The summer festival Rock en Seine, was held in Paris on the last weekend of August. The 9th edition of the Rock en Seine festival took place on the Park of Domaine National de Saint Cloud, asuburban area very closed to Paris, from August Friday 26 to Sunday 28. This eclectic music manifestation welcomed around 108,000 visitors who enjoyed the art of 63 bands.

During these three days, the audience was able to appreciate numerous styles of music. Each category of bands/singers were performing on 4 different stages. Each stage represente d a type of artist. The bigger stage (Grande Scène), with a most important audience and usually for the most popular bands, the Scène de l’Industrie, the Scène de la Cascade and the Scène Pression Live.

Every year, this festival presents a programme of various performers that always tend to outdo the ones of the previous years. The concerts were composed of rock music, folk, groove, hip-hop and electro. For many years, Rock en Seine kept some kind of balance between top of the bill bands and others which are willing to be known, mixing both type of bands on the same stage.

Plus, the Parisian festival remained faithful to the idea of having a show with French and international performers. We can say that the festival has come a long way from the first edition, nine years ago, which used to last a day. The festival back then only took place on two stages.

The festival started on Friday, with Biffy Clyro, an alternative-metal band from Scotland. We also had the pleasure to see Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, The Kills, CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy: fed up to be sexy, an electo-pop band), Kid Cuddy, Herman Dune (folk), Death in Vegas and many others.

Saturday included music from the Arctic Monkeys, The Streets, Hushpuppies, Keren Ann, CocoRosie, BB Brunes, The Wombats, and Blond Redhead. The last day included a 30 musician orchestra which amazed the audience. Fans of neo metal were more than delighted to prove that they remember the Deftones’ songs.

My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Tinie Tempah, Lilly Woods and the Pricks and many others performed to make this week end unforgettable. A specificity of the festival is Mini Rock Festival for children, to teach them how to be the rock stars of the future, with games and fancy clothing.

If you want to see more of French music festival, look forward to La fête de l’Huma, which has great importance and will be in September.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Florence and The Machine’s producer Paul Epworth revealed through Twitter that the upcoming follow up album to Florence and The Machine’s 2009 debut Lungs, has no “weak tracks”.

The tweeted message exposed that the album songs were finished and they were currently with the record label, which is in charge of choosing which songs will be picked and included on the album.

Epworth said: “Had a week of wonderful mixes coming in for Florence 2. I love handing something over to hear it come back better. I feel for the a&r dept having to try and whittle these tracks down to 10 or 12 because there really are no weak ones. It’s a weird record that sounds live in ways and like a machine in others, with sensitivity and power from both the music and Flo’s voice.”

Epworth had already given previous comments about the album production with Florence Welch in London’s Abbey Road Studios, when he spoke to BBC 6 Music in June. Referring about the sounds of the new album, he commented: “It’s going to be more stripped down, but it’s heavy, rhythmically. It’s a much heavier record than the first album.”

He also added how Welch is experiencing different music fields and styles, going from ” Less indie and lot more soulful.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Their great music comes again like a lightning thunder. The band Death Cab for Cutie brings up a big smile onto their fans and followers faces, by by releasing their new album new album named Codes and Keys yesterday May 31st , via Atlantic Records.

With this release, the band will already reach a sum of seven albums. You can hear the tracklist that is being featured on npr.com.

The fans could interact for about one hour with the band on Facebook. Once the Album was released the comments and wall posts flooded Death Cab for Cutie’s page on Facebook. The band was talking to their fans, and responded to many comments, and questions.

The album features singles: “You are a Tourist, “Codes and Keys, and “Home is a Fire” which will arrive first in U.K May 30, and a day later in U.S.A.

The album is componed by eleven songs that involve the listener into a great atmosphere where the instruments just blend with the voices and create the perfect mixture. Death Cab’s style is unique, and they offer great Indie Music.

This are the eleven tracks that the album features:

1. Home Is a Fire
2. Codes and Keys
3. Some Boys
4. Doors Unlocked and Open
5. You Are a Tourist
6. Unobstructed Views

A great description about the album was described by Andy Gill in The Independent, mentioning that : “there’s an ease and comfort about the songs that suggests they fell into place naturally, rather than suffering endless alterations; and the band seem content to let them breathe and take on a life of their own, rather than freight them with unnecessary adornment”.
