Not all heroes have to be aliens with a list of super powers. Some tackle everyday problems such as the reality of bullying. The Adventures of Rubberkid is a free Adobe Flash game looking to raise awareness about how terrible bullying can be. Rubberkid is a regular kid who was tired of being bullied. To stand up to the bullies, Rubberkid created a suit of rubber bands to bounce the insults they hurl right back at them.

The goal of the game is to show the player the consequences of bullying. The levels can be selected in any order and each focuses on helping a particular child (or children). Once the player helps those in need, they are shown the effects bullying can have.  The results show what would have happened to the child had the bullies continued, but they also give the player hope by showing what each accomplishes in their life since you stood up for them.

The game is great tool for children and adults of all ages and has the following features:

• Nine levels of gameplay, featuring three different game types.
• Players can print out a certificate pledge as reminder to not bully others, but to also speak up when others are bullied. The certificate will even have the player’s name on it.
• Those interested can pay what they want for Rubberkid, including nothing at all. This allows schools and libraries easy access to this fun and educational program.
• Story segments for each character allow the player to see the effects of bullying first-hand. Seeing what each character accomplishes will encourage the player to speak up when they or someone else is being bullied.
• Vivid, colorful graphics and characters from The Critterverse.

In order to extend the reach of the game as far as possible, The Adventures of Rubberkid current has an active Kickstarter campaign.  With the funding, the game will be translated into Spanish and French, feature cyber bullying content, be supplemented with additional materials such as a children’s book or a comic book and more. The money raised through Kickstarter is necessary to keep the game in development for a few more months, giving Strike Suit Zero the time to reach its full potential.

HD Interactive and Most Wanted Entertainment have announced the next stage in their quest to develop a sequel to their highly-rated Space RTS game Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, with the company launching a campaign on high-profile crowdfunding site Kickstarter to supplement their own financing.

“Nexus 2 is a very special project for the company,” said company director Mike Horneman, “Nexus was our first game, and we still have many of the original team-members on board, with full plans in place for what we’d do for a sequel.”

Launched in 2004, the game was highly acclaimed as one of the best spaceship battle games ever made, and continues to attract fans even to this day.

“We re-launched the original Nexus on Steam a while ago, and even now we see a substantial amount of new players buying the game each month,” said Horneman. “We have a very vocal fan base, and know that there’s a large number of people out there who would love to see a sequel made.”

HD and MWE are looking to finance the project with a mixture of their own funds supported by crowdfunding.

“We’re happy to put a large chunk of our own resources into making Nexus 2,” said Horneman, “but realistically we cannot fund the whole project ourselves. So, with Kickstarter, we can offer all our fans out there a chance to be part of the Nexus 2 project.”

“The more you pledge, the more you will benefit; from thanks in the credits, through special boxed editions, right up to designing spaceships that will appear in the game. The largest donor will also receive a completely unique version of the game, where he or she is the hero, complete with facial likeness and voice over. We’re all very excited.”

Oxfordshire, UK — As Silverball Studios sees the end of the Kickstarter campaign; for the no-compromise revival and rebuilding of the legendary Pro Pinball series, looming, the studio have launched the #PinballNeedsYou campaign to rally the support of fans and backers to push the funding from 24% to 100% in the 7 remaining days.

The studio have produced wallpapers, avatars and banners (which can be downloaded at the bottom of this release)for fans and supporters to put on the screens of their PCs, Macs, iPads, smartphones and on their Facebook, Twitter profiles and blogs; with beautifully rendered imagery and the #PinballNeedsYou tag on.

“We’ve only got a week left on our Pro Pinball Kickstarter campaign and we really need to gain that extra support now to make this a reality.” said Pat Lawlor.

The campaign to fund the revival and remastering of Pro Pinball has a week left on the clock and the project sits at nearly 25% funded; with the team needing to raise a minimum of $400,000.

The campaign, if fully funded, will see the development team create a brand new ultimate Pro Pinball table, designed by the legendary Pat Lawlor as well as fully re-creating from scratch the four original Pro Pinball tables for various platforms, including PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS3, PSVita and XBLA, to name but a few. “The scope of the project effectively means we’re building five new pinball games from scratch.” said Adrian Barritt.

“If there is a pinball fan out there who has not yet been to the campaign site and pledged to help this project succeed then I implore them to do so now. I was delighted to be asked to be involved with this project and am therefore eager to hit the Kickstarter target and get started.” said Pat Lawlor.

These rewards are on top of the existing items, including signed boxed copies of the tables in the series; classic and new, and the opportunity to appear on the back-glass of the new table, drawn by the great John Youssi; the artist responsible for a the back-glass artwork for The Addams Family, The Twilight Zone and Medieval Madness.

East Peoria, U.S.A. — Independent game studio, Aisle 5 Games, looks to the internet to help fund their fourth game title, G.H.O.S.T. Chronicles: The Magician’s Curse. As with most video games, funding is always an issue, and Aisle 5 Games feels that Kickstarter could provide extra support by reaching out to internet savvy casual gamers.

Kickstarter.com gives creative projects a chance to gain funding through individual pledges from the community. Following Kickstarter guidelines, Aisle 5 Games aims to raise $35,000 during a 30 day period. If successful, Aisle 5 states that the funds will be used for additional artwork, animations, and professional vocal actors. If the goal is not reached by October 6th, 2012, then all pledges are cancelled and G.H.O.S.T. Chronicles: The Magician’s Curseis not funded.

When asked why the decision was made to turn to the Kickstarter community for funding, Mike stated, “Casual gaming has change dramatically over the last couple of years. The typical casual game budget ranges from $100,000 to $500,000. As a small developer, funds like this are hard to come by. Kickstarter allows us to expand our funding possibilities while retaining creative control over our games.”

G.H.O.S.T. Chronicles: The Magician’s Curse combines adventure and hidden object game play, aiming to take the casual game player on a fantastic journey filled with mystery and intrigue.

Mike notes, “We believe the Magician’s Curse is going to be our best adventure yet. With each game, we continue to grow as a developer. From adding new features, refining game controls, to producing richer environments for the player to immerse themselves in, each game is a learning experience that we use to make the next game better.”

Nobodinos announces their Kickstarter campaign to raise development funds to make their game ‘Bottom Feeders’ for the mobile market. Bottom Feeders is a simple, casual action game where players plunge a net from a boat to catch all kinds of different sea critters, which are ultimately added to their collection.

Fishing with dynamite? No problem! How about some super bait power ups? Need a faster winch to pull up more critters on your boat? Or how about a boat captain?
