The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Most Hollywood stars usually support Democrats, but, like in everything in life, there are some exceptions: Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Donald Trump and Kid Rock are all supporters of Mitt Romney’s campaign.

Clint Eastwood told Romney supporters in a Sun Valley fundraiser, “Now more than ever do we need Gov. Romney. I’m going to be voting for him.” In February, Eastwood told Fox News at the time that he was not affiliated with or supporting any politician. But now the ‘Mystic River’ director’s mind has changed.

Eastwood also said that he hoped Romney would be able to install a “decent tax system that we need badly… so that there’s a fairness and people are not pitted against one another as who’s paying taxes and who isn’t.” Clint Eastwood has become a big supporter of Romney’s; he is arguably the most important celebrity in favor of the former Massachusetts Governor.

Former ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ protagonist Chuck Norris has also shown his support for Mitt Romney. In an opinion article he stated “I believe that Mitt has the skills and organization to defeat Obama and stop his fundamental transformation of America. We all know what four more years of increased socialistic decisions would do to our country.”

Kid Rock is also doing campaigning in favor of Romney, the artist’s anthem ‘Born Free’ has become Romney’s official campaign song.

The famous Donald Trump has also endorsed Mitt Romney, “Mitt is tough. He is smart,” Trump said, with Romney at his side, at a brief announcement at a Las Vegas hotel bearing his name.

The ‘Apocalypse Now’ star Robert Duvall is also hosting a fundraiser for Romney in September. The National Journal has published on its site Duvall’s fundraising invitation at Middleburg, Virginia, in which the general reception will cost $2,500, a VIP photo reception at the entrance will cost $10,000, and a dinner will cost $25,000.

Another famous Hollywood celebrity that is supporting Mitt Romney is Jerry Bruckheimer, the film and TV producer, creator of ‘CSI’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ who donated the maximum individual donation amount allowed to Romney’s campaign in March. Bruckheimer hasn’t always donated money to the Republicans, in the past he has used it to donate in favor of Democrats.

In 2008 President Obama had most celebrities’ support; Musicians like Will.I.Am produced viral campaign videos for him. In 2012 he still has most of the celebrity support, but Romney certainly has more celebrity power than McCain did. President Obama is still way ahead of Romney: he has recently dinned with George Clooney, exchanged quips with Spike Lee in a New York City townhouse and met with Lady Gaga in a fundraiser organized by Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, in which the singer, one of the few people that has more Twitter followers than Obama, paid the maximum campaign donation of $35,800 for access to the event.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Kid Rock and Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) fans are in for a rare treat on May 12, 2012 when the two join forces. Rock and the DSO are set to hold a benefit concert at the Fox Theatre in Detroit to raise $1 million for the DSO.

The concert was originally the idea of Quicken Loans founder and chairman Dan Gilbert. Gilbert was attempting to help the DSO settle its musician strike last winter when he had the idea to pair Rock with the symphony.

Rock told Billboard.com that although he has never attended a DSO concert “as a musician, a cultural institution like that in Detroit is important.” Rock, his Twisted Brown Trucker band, the DSO, Leonard Slatkin, and the Fox Theatre are all volunteering their services for the concert. The proceeds will go to the DSO to help fund their outreach, engagement, and community service work.

Conductor Leonard Slatkin has collaborated with musicians in the genres of jazz, rock, and fusions before and has no reservations about performing with Kid Rock. According to the Detroit Free Press, Slatkin put Rock’s people in touch with Rob Mathes, an arranger he has often worked with. Mathes, the musical director of the annual Kennedy Center Honors, has also worked with a diverse range of artists including Sting and Mary J. Blige.

Rock told Billboard.com that they are “in the early stages” of planning the concert’s set. He also said that all his work is under consideration. “I hear ‘Bawitdaba’ being kind of insane. ‘Cowboy’ seems to be a little tricky, but maybe…we don’t call them violins; we call them fiddles for that song.”

Tickets now on sale range in price from $100-$350, with VIP packages as high as $1500 also available. The VIP packages include premiere seating and access to an exclusive after party. Rock has acknowledged that the prices are higher than what his fans are used to paying but he assures that the show will be “well worth the price of admission.” As he told Billboard.com, “It’s not going to be a show people have seen before at all, in any regard. All I can guarantee is it’ll be interesting.”

Kid Rock grew up in and currently resides in Detroit. He has been known to support charitable causes and his hometown. The promise of the $1 million this concert will raise was pivotal in ending the musician’s strike. Rock said in a statement, “As a musician, and of course a Detroiter, I am proud to be supporting this longstanding cultural institution.”

Leonard Slatkin told the Detroit Free Press, “What he is doing for Detroit is nothing short of amazing! I can think of very few contemporary musicians who believe so whole-heartedly in their city.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

TouchTunes Interactive Networks, the largest interactive in-venue entertainment network in North America, today released its top songs and artists of 2011. The results, based on an analysis of over 900 million songs played across TouchTunes’ network of 50,000 in-venue music systems, revealed that consumers choose a mix of newly released and classic songs to listen to when they’re out in a social setting.

TouchTunes’ top played song of the year across every genre was country superstar Jason Aldean’s hit single ‘Dirt Road Anthem.’ Other notable songs to make TouchTunes’ 2011 Top 10 most played list includes Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ Eric Church’s ‘Smoke a Little Smoke’ and Kid Rock’s ‘All Summer Long.’

“Having the #1 song of the year running on TouchTunes jukeboxes is a cool thing for me. It means my songs are being played in most every bar and honky tonk in the country,” stated Jason Aldean. “Those are the kinds of places I used to have gigs when I was a teenager down in Georgia. It’s a really cool full circle kind of moment.”

Jason Aldean was also the third most played artist on the network, surpassed only by long-time fan favorites AC/DC, who was the second most played, and Kid Rock, who was the most played overall. Other top artists on TouchTunes in 2011 include Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

“It’s always fun to look at the most played songs and artists on our network,” said Vicki Saunders, TouchTunes Vice President, Music Marketing. “TouchTunes provides fans with a unique listening experience, and gives them a chance to find that one perfect song that will set the mood for their night out. For many this year, Jason Aldean did just that.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

2011 is bringing out some brand new albums from all of your favorite singers and bands. Some are albums you knew about long ago while others are from bands you may have never heard of. There are also some new albums coming out that you had no idea would even come from a band that was still playing. Check out some of the most anticipated albums of the year:

1. Iron and Wine- Kiss Each Other Clean

2. Taylor Swift- Speak Now

- This country star’s new album came out recently with more beauticious words that send out good messages to younger girls.

3. Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

- He may have a bad repuatation after portraying diva images and interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech, but he really knows how to keep the ear busy.

4. Kesha- Cannibal

- Looking to dance it up? Listen to “We R Who We R,” “Blow,” “Sleazy,” and of course “Cannibal.”

5. Kid Rock- Born Free

6. Kanye West and Jay-Z- Watch the Throne

7. Crystal Bowersox- Farmer’s Daughter

8. Panic! at the Disco- Vices and Virtues

9. Death Cab For Cutie- (Title to be announced)

10. Gym Class Heroes- (Title to be announced)

11. Red Hot Chili Peppers- I’m With You

12. Britney Spears- Femme Fatale

- Britney’s music has become more shallow, but more lively and enjoyable. So it evens out well.

13. Avril Lavigne – Goodbye Lullaby

- Who would have thought that Avril had a sensitive side? “Everybody Hurts” is quite touching and “Push” sounds like it came from her diary.

14. Coldplay- (Title to be announced)

-”Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” will definitely be a memory. Do you remember “Clocks?” This is the new one!

15. Radiohead- The King of Limbs

16. Beyonce- (Title to be announced)

17. Fiona Apple- (Title to be announced)

-Looks like she might be coming back! “Criminal” just seems so far away…

18. No Doubt- (Title to be announced)

- No more solo Gwen Stefani! She’s teamed up with her old band and they’re going to be releasing their newest album any day now. We haven’t been this excited since “Just a Girl!”

19. Willow Smith (Title to be announced)

- She whips her hair back and forth and now her album will be whipped all over the place.

20. Tune-Yards- Who Kill

21. Lady Gaga- Born This Way

- She really is beautiful in her way. This album is definitely a change for the music industry. In fact, it’ll be pretty hard to compete with this one. Gaga has already soared up the charts with her new album, and “The Edge of Glory” will soar it up many miles higher.

22. TV On the Radio- Nine Types of Light

23. Bon Iver- Bon Iver

24. Noah and the Whale- Last Night On Earth
