This was definitely not the greatest week for the British Royal family, due to a naked-photos scandal. Prince Harry was enjoying himself with friends during holiday in the United States when some embarrassing images of him surfaced from a wild night of partying in Las Vegas.

Specifically the two images obtained of Harry, sold for £10,000, were published and leaked online on tuesday night by the american celebrity news website TMZ. The two pictures were both showing the third-in-line to the throne naked in his birthday suite.

In one of the photographs, prince Harry is pictured naked benting over a second person, who also appears to be naked. It is not clear whether the person is male or female. In the other photograph the young prince is also pictured nude, covering his genitals with his hands and wearing only a necklace and a watch while another person, who also appears to be naked, stands close beside him.

TMZ reported that the two images were both taken after a game of strip billiards last weekend at a private suite in the Wynn Resort. The Prince visited Vegas to enjoy himself with some friends, after official business at a charity event in San Diego.

Prince Harry who has now returned to the motherland has some serious explaining to do to the Queen.

A video from the very same trip to Vegas has also been released, showing the Prince racing Ryan Lochte, the US Olympic swimming gold metallist in the pool of a nightclub in the hotel they were staying. Ryan Lochte, who was in Las Vegas in order to celebrate his 28th birthday, admitted that he was ‘surprised’ Prince Harry had challenged him to the race, which of course Ryan won.

Ryan also said that Harry was a great guy, and it has been a honour to have met him. Challenging one of the world’s top sportsmen wasn’t a first for the 27-year-old Prince, since he had managed to beat the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt in a joke race in March during a Caribbean tour.

Although banned to be printed in the United Kingdom, the nude images of Harry were quickly spread worldwide online. The Sun became the first newspaper in Britain to have published the naked images of Prince Harry, despite warnings from the Royal family’s lawyers. Elizabeth Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch’s daughter, claimed The Sun was right to publish the photographs. Elizabeth told Telegraph that “it would be very sad if we lived in a world where you can’t publish that. Even in my MacTaggart tunnel of the last couple of days, i went online and checked and checked out the pictures.”

A palace official, declining to be named in line with protocol, stated that Prince Harry has been on private holiday before, resuming his military duties. For those who don’t know: Harry is a captain in the British Army Air corps. On Wednesday, the British Royal family requested the country’s newspapers not to print the nude images of Prince Harry dancing around excitedly with friends on holiday in Las Vegas.

While now it’s nude pictures that are dominating the headlines, the young Royal is used to controversy. It is not the first time he’s coming into the spotlight. After all, he has the reputation of the ‘wild child’ in the Royal family:

Back in 2002, young Harry earned the nickname ‘Harry Pothead’, given to him by the British Press after admitting to having tried out cannabis and engaging to underage drinking. In January 2002, Prince Charles sent Harry and a friend to visit the Featherstone Lodge Rehabilitation Center in South London for a day in order to learn about the effects of drug-taking.

In 2004, Harry comes once again in the spotlight for wearing a swastika armband to a friend’s ‘Colonial and Native’ themed party. The tabloids exploded with reports that Harry was a Nazi. Clarence House quickly released an apology, saying “Prince Harry has apologized for any offence or embarrassment he has caused. He realizes it was a poor choice of costume.”

His reputation as a wild child was increased when The Sun claimed to have video of a 23-year-old Harry drinking in large gulps from a bottle of vodka, spitting it out on a cap and inhaling the shot through his nose while his friends were cheering him on. His representative made no comments on the incident, claiming it was a ‘private matter’.

Moreover, in 2009 there was additional footage of Harry in which the Prince was calling his fellow Army colleagues by racist or other derogatory names. Prime Minister David Cameron spoke out against his utterances, claiming they were unacceptable things to say. Harry of course quickly apologized for the incident saying he was sorry for any offence his words might have caused.

Bellagio is a hotel and casino centrally located on the Las Vegas strip that is known for a variety of activities and sites. The fountain is twenty-seven feet tall, and consists of three different types of chocolate.  Watching this beauty puts you into the perfect mood to enjoy some chocolate at the Jean-Philippe Patisserie. This bakery makes a wide variety of the finest chocolate pastries, as well as gelato and other sweets.

Since you are already treating yourself to some sweets, why not step on over to the Bellagio Salon? The Salon & Spa includes all sorts of pampering options, including make up, hair styling, manicures and pedicures, massages, waxing and specialty packages. The salon allows for a great way to relax and feel rejuvenated, whether you are in Vegas for work or fun.  The employees are wonderful professionals and are there to assist you in every way possible, including getting drinks for you.

There are amazing restaurants to enjoy as well, including Olives. Olives is the perfect location to enjoy amazing food, like their flat breads, while looking out onto the Bellagio fountains. The fountains go off every half hour, providing a great show throughout any meal. Olives’ low lighting and fine dining creates a romantic environment where you can forget the place is a busy tourist attraction.

Although there are all these other options at the Bellagio, you can’t forget about the real reason for the hotel and casino: gambling. There are many different games to choose from. It is also a great environment for gambling: gorgeous décor with rich colors, elegant flair and perfect service.

If you prefer to spend your money in other ways, there is an array of shops to enjoy as well.

Overall, plenty of time should be set-aside on your next vacation for the Bellagio. Other attractions include a huge, gorgeous pool for the tourists and business services for others in Vegas for work. There is so much to see and do for all ages.

With the United States holding a consistent 100 ranking, Las Vegas and Nevada are comparative.

Las Vegas had a ranking of 174, while Nevada was 120 compared to the U.S.’s 100. While having a greater number for the quality of life, the two also held higher for the quality of amusement. No surprise there, Nevada held 176 while Nevada was 135 compared to the 100 of the United States ranking. The index just goes to prove how Nevada is a place to go to have fun and enjoy life; specifically in Las Vegas.

The Strip holds a lot of entertainment and accommodations, as do the surrounding areas. The Strip is four miles long, so walking is the best transportation option and creates a very convenient way to see all the drastically different casinos along the street. Just like the variety of venues and entertainment, there is a variety of types of transportation too.

There are 29 casinos along the 4 mile stretch, while there are 77 total in Las Vegas.

San Diego, U.S.A - And the award goes to…. Sony Tablet. The traditional envelop will be missed. At the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, on-stage presenters will announce the winners by reading their names off of the Sony Tablet P.

With almost everything making the move to digital these days, it is only natural that the iconic awards show moment – when the presenter rips opens an envelope and announces the winner – is also making a technological leap forward.

Presenters for all seven on-air awards will use a Sony Tablet P in place of the traditional envelope. Presenters will open the folding, dual-screen tablet to reveal the name of the winner on the screen inside. Sony Tablet S is being used by members of the production team through pre-production and on show night in monitoring the ongoing discussions across all social media sites.

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and are to be broadcast live on ABC, Sunday, May 20, 2012.   This year’s presenters include Taio Cruz, Gavin DeGraw, Gladys Knight, Julianne Hough, Natasha Bedingfield and Jeremy Sisto. More presenters will be announced as the show draws closer. ABC Modern Family’s Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell were previously announced as the event’s hosts.

New Bedford, U.S.A – If you haven’t heard the velvety voice and sultry strumming of Chicago treasure Frank D’Rone, well, better late than never. Fortunately, you can hear everything the man has to offer, and maybe a little bit more, on his latest album, Double Exposure.

D’Rone, who has been around long enough to be endorsed by none other than Nat King Cole, has a natural born affinity for providing great entertainment. Whether he’s belting out in front of a sizzling big band, singing some swinging pop-jazz, or crooning acoustic ballads, D’Rone can do it all and make it seem effortless. Double Exposure, and his frequent gigs in and around Chicago, and throughout his career in major nightclubs throughout the country, attests to this.

So, yes, D’Rone has indeed been there and done that. He has connected with audiences for decades; his mellow demeanor and outsize talent is shown in abundance on Double Exposure. The recording pops on impeccably arranged big-band style tunes like the opening “When the Sun Comes Out” and “Pick Yourself Up.” D’Rone makes solid contact on his many guitar-based ballads, including “Make Someone Happy” and “The Very Thought of You.” Throughout the record, D’Rone proves he can dazzle regardless of the genre.

Born in Providence, Frank started singing and playing the guitar on stage at the age of five. At 11, he had his own local radio show and at 13 he’d won an artist’s degree in classical guitar. He formed his own band and played local dates while finishing school then took his show on the road, playing in New York City and Chicago. Frank eventually ended up in a successful residency at a Chicago club called Dante’s Inferno.

During this time, Chicago proved to be a friendly place and D’Rone made a name for himself among the elite artists of the era. Celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald, Shecky Greene, Oscar Peterson, Alan King, Ray Brown, Stan Kenton, June Christy and many more turned up to see D’Rone do his thing. He gained a reputation as a true artist, a singer’s singer. One of his most enthusiastic admirers, the late Nat “King” Cole, penned the liner notes for Frank’s first album. Sinatra requested that D’Rone be hired to play the lounge when he played Las Vegas and Atlantic Cityvenues.

D’Rone’s rare talent has served him well everywhere he goes. Frank was headlining the world-famous “Copacabana” when Tony Bennett took over the microphone on opening night and told the audience, “A few years back, Nat ‘King’ Cole said that Frank D’Rone was the finest singer around. Tonight he has proved that Nat was right!”

If it’s “right” with Cole and Bennett, it’ll be “right” with you, too.

Las Vegas, U.S.A.- Fourteen years later, and Tiger Jam has yet to skip a beat! This past Saturday, Tiger Jam 2012 again rocked the Las Vegas strip, bringing host Tiger Woods and talents including Jon Bon Jovi and Friends and American Idol winner David Cook to the stage for an incredible performance. Held at the renowned Mandalay Bay Events Center, the sold-out concert and accompanying attractions raised approximately $1 million for programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Kicking off the weekend, VIP Tiger Jam guests were treated to a day of golf at Cascata Golf Club, which included a private exhibition with Woods followed by a round of golf. Next, guests went head-to-head for an exclusive night of poker, competing against some of the game’s biggest names.

Tiger’s Poker Night, held Friday, April 27, featured such legends as Phil Hellmuth, Jr., who emceed the event and took second place; Ben Lamb who finished fourth; and Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson, won first place. Proceeds from the Texas Hold ‘em style charity poker tournament went directly to the college-access programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation, while the winner of the tournament received a foursome of golf with Tiger Woods. Following poker, VIP guests gathered at Moorea Beach Club for a performance from The Bravery.

On Saturday, headliners Jon Bon Jovi and Friends took the stage, delivering a rocking performance that included some of Jon’s greatest hits such as: Livin’ on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name and Wanted Dead or Alive. Opening the show was singer, songwriter and American Idol season seven winner David Cook.

Live and silent auctions preceded Saturday night’s event. VIP guests mixed and mingled over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Tiger Jam reception. During the live auction, a Lindsey Vonn skiing weekend package that included a skiing lesson from the Olympian, went for $20,000; a Maui Jim Fishing Excursion went for $10,000; a getaway to Turtle Island, Fiji raised $19,000; and the Ultimate Gastronomic Golf Getaway With Mario Batali in NYC, went to the highest bidder for $10,000.

After the main concert event, guests returned to the House of Blues for the after-party hosted by M.C. Hammer.

2011 Nationwide Series champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took his first victory of 2012 in a stop-start race in Las Vegas. Pole man Elliott Sadler lead for a large part of the race before eventually coming third behind veteran Mark Martin. A series of cautions throughout the race meant plenty of lead changes, but it was Stenhouse who pulled away when it mattered to take the checkered flag.

Elliott Sadler lead away from the front in the opening laps as he looked for his second victory in a row after taking the checkered flag in Phoenix last week. Defending champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. moved into second place early on until the first caution came out on lap 12 when Kyle Fowler and Benny Gordon got into a spin at the back of the pack.

Sadler once again lead the field away from the restart as the group spread out with very little wheel-to-wheel racing happening. The track which was criticized last year for pack racing when Dan Wheldon died in a multi-car wreck in the IndyCar finale, and Kyle Busch was the next to hit the Vegas walls on the back straight, bringing out caution number two and another mass of pit-stops. Kasey Kahne jumped Sadler during the caution and he lead away from the restart.

Phoenix winner Sadler had a poor restart and dropped down the pack allowing Kahne to pull away at the front, but it was not long until they were behind the pace car again when Joey Gase brushed the wall coming out of turn two, the same place Busch lost it twelve laps earlier.

Like Sadler on the previous restart, Kahne did not get away well from the outside, and Brian Scott took the lead for the next stint of the 300 miles. The Vegas oval was still failing to provide much close pack racing as the drivers found space fairly easily unless they came up against lapped traffic.

Kahne had retaken the lead when caution number four came out after Mike Bliss turned around Jennifer Jo Cobb on the tri-oval, Cobb managing to keep it out of the wall, but stalling in the middle of turn one. Kahne once again dropped to second from the restart as Brad Keselowski took his turn to lead the field as the race approached its halfway point. It was turning into a race riddled with cautions and very little wheel-to-wheel in between as Kasey Kahne once more regained the lead.

Previous leader Brian Scott brought out the next caution when he hit the wall hard in turn four, and a six-lap caution saw Mark Martin take the lead, with Allgaier and Sam Hornish Jr. also beneficiaries of the yellow flag period. It still was not your regular NASCAR event. Mark Martin held the lead comfortably as once again the pack began to fan out between cautions.

The next caution fell with a little over 50 laps remaining when TJ Bell stalled his car on the track apron of turn two, Stenhouse Jr. beat Martin out of the pits, with Danica Patrick finding herself in sixth place. The caution was out again soon after when Jeremy Clements put his car on the infield after contact with Tayler Malsem as the race approached its finale stages with Stenhouse still out front.

Cole Whitt in the No.88 spot found himself running in the top three, and things were tightening up as Elliott Sadler made a push back up the running group to put himself back in contention with 30 laps to go.

Stenhouse Jr. pushed on and extended his lead as the field entered their final 10 laps, only a caution now would deny the 2011 champion his first victory of the season. As the white flag dropped, it seemed the leader was running out of fuel, but he held on to take the flag ahead of Mark Martin and Phoenix winner Elliott Sadler.

Additional performances included multi-Grammy winning artists and current Grammy nominees Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, and Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas; Grammy winning artist Duane Eddy; multi-Grammy winning artists Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and James Taylor; two-time Grammy winning artists Diana Krall and Neil Young with Crazy Horse; two-time Latin Grammy winning artist Sergio Mendes; and current Grammy nominee Katy Perry.

The evening also featured a special performance by 14-time Grammy winning artist and 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Paul McCartney. Love, a Cirque du Soleil creation and co-production with Apple Corps Ltd., celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles and is presented exclusively at The Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

This joint artistic venture marks the first time that The Beatles company, Apple Corps, has agreed to a major theatrical partnership. The project was born out of a personal friendship and mutual admiration between the late George Harrison and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte.

Since its June 2006 premiere, Love has performed over 2,000 shows for more than 4.3 million people. Recently named “Best Show in Las Vegas” by USA Today, Love has been voted “Best Show in Las Vegas” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal for four consecutive years and continues to be a celebrity favorite.

In February 2011, The Beatles’ Grammy Award-winning Love album and ‘All Together Now’ documentary made their digital debuts, exclusively on iTunes.

In advance of one of the busiest dining holidays of the year, a new survey by OpenTable, a leading provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations for diners and reservation and guest management solutions for restaurants, reveals that diners are planning to fill seats at romantic restaurant hot spots early this year, with 53 percent of respondents saying they plan to make reservations more than a week before this Valentine’s Day.

“About half of diners surveyed anticipate booking a romantic evening on the 14th, while another 26 percent are choosing to celebrate on Saturday night, February 11. Regardless of which night diners plan to celebrate, Valentine’s Day promises to be a bustling day for romantic hot spots.”

The economy doesn’t seem to be a factor as OpenTable diners are looking to enjoy an evening out with 93 percent planning to match last year’s tab or step up the spending, which is 3 percent more than spending plans in 2011. Additionally, 54 percent of OpenTable diners plan to spend $101 to $200, while 10 percent expect to shell out more than $200 on dining.

One city famous for its high rollers is preparing to up the ante this year with 20 percent of diners in Las Vegas planning to spend more than $200, a claim to spend they share only with the sandy, sunny city of Miami. Not surprisingly, New York City dwellers follow closely behind as 19 percent also will be dropping the big bucks with their sweetheart.

The love-driven lavishness when dining, however, stops just short of gifts with 86 percent of respondents admitting that they do not exchange gifts at the table. In fact, 15 percent of OpenTable diners believe a gift exchange is much better suited for a private venue, finding swapping gifts in a restaurant to be inappropriate and bordering on obnoxious.

A few cupid-happy cities firmly stand by the age old idiom that money can’t buy love and hope to scale down spending entirely this year. Seattle respondents lead the pack on shifting Valentine’s Day spending down a notch with 16 percent of diners saying they will drop fewer dollars celebrating this year, with Atlanta (15 percent) and Los Angeles (10 percent) diners following this trend close behind.

One item the OpenTable survey respondents couldn’t quite agree on was what type of restaurant they find most romantic in dining with that special someone. While 35 percent of diners find it most amorous to stick to a traditional Italian cuisine for Valentine’s Day, other diners seek a different type of taste for a romantic rendezvous:

• 25 percent find French cuisine to be the most romantic
• 11 percent find American cuisine to be the most romantic
• 8 percent find fondue to be the most romantic
• 7 percent find tapas to be the most romantic

Even if there is no special someone this year, OpenTable diners still are committed to dining out. Three out of 4 survey respondents said they have dined out with friends on Valentine’s Day or if they have not yet, they certainly would.

Russian-born pop singer Grace Valerie makes her Las Vegas debut on Sunday, February 19. Her appearance is the young performer’s latest career triumph.

Valerie, age 21, recently signed with Dream Merchant 21, music-industry veteran and American Idol judge Randy Jackson’s record label. Valerie and Jackson collaborated on her first single, ‘When the Lights Go Down.’ This song’s video quickly became an Internet phenomenon, scoring more than 1.5 million YouTube hits. It reached No. 17 on Billboard’s club chart and was a No. 1 ‘Most Popular’ MTV video.

“I am thrilled to be doing my first show in Las Vegas, a city known for its glitter and glamour,” Valerie says. “Some of the biggest names in show business have performed there, and I feel very grateful to be part of that. The audience will be treated to the choreography and my amazing dancers doing their thing.”

While brand-new to Las Vegas, Valerie already has one summer tour under her belt. Audiences embraced her in Chicago, Orlando, and New York City, among other locations.

Grace Valerie was born in Moscow, Russia in 1990. Even as a girl, she dreamed of being a musician. “I sang Michael Jackson’s songs when I was four, madly wanting to know what they meant,” she remembers. “I grew up singing Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears in my bedroom, always imagining and pretending to be an artist… In high school, I started doing concerts and talent shows.”

But Valerie’s parents envisioned her in an international career, though outside the limelight. They sent her to the Russian University of Economics, from which she graduated with honors. “I loved my school years, and I learned a lot,” Valerie says. “But deep down, I knew I would become an artist.”

Valerie moved to Los Angeles in October 2010, met Randy Jackson soon thereafter, and steadily has risen. She has built a following ever since. ”My fan base is everyone: family people, club goers, kids, young girls, gays — truly everybody,” Valerie told PressPassLA.com. “My music is for everybody to enjoy and just have fun with.”

As the dust settles from the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV, technologists from around the world have gathered at the IEEE International Consumer Electronics Conference (ICCE) to discuss what’s next for consumer electronics.

This annual event is one of the industry’s flagship conferences known for unveiling a plethora of impressive innovations and highlighting upcoming developments. These futuristic concepts are often brought to life within a few years of their debut at ICCE.

While researchers discuss new innovations and technologies for the consumer electronics industry, IEEE experts highlight the trends from CES 2012 that will dictate the product development cycles of companies all around the world.

Ubiquitous, Nonstop Connectivity
With consumer connectivity demands growing exponentially around the world, companies are focused on manufacturing devices that connect and seamlessly share content and information, while ensuring products are upgradeable and compatible with other brands.

While Internet-connected devices aren’t new, their increased connection capabilities are growing, and changing the way society works as a whole. “A fully connected society will require a shift in the way people work, think and live,” said Dr. Henry Samueli, IEEE Fellow and chief technical officer at Broadcom Corporation.

“It’s not just about the device itself; it’s about connecting all the devices together and sharing content. In a few years, all consumer electronic products will be able to share content – quickly and seamlessly – in a way that is transparent to the user.”

Cloud-Based Applications
With the massive shift to constant connectivity and seamless mobility, there is an urgent need for data storage. It’s no surprise that technology companies and service providers are turning to the cloud for increased storage and computing power, given an almost unlimited capacity.

“Cloud-based services are able to process and access information that would otherwise be impractical to achieve on a small, under-powered device,” said Stuart Lipoff, IEEE Fellow. ”By taking advantage of powerful servers and the wealth of information in the cloud, the little battery powered device in your pocket takes on the power of a super-computer.”

The role of consumer electronics continues to diversify and grow because of cloud-based applications.  Engineers are able to make advancements in technologies that benefit consumers, including home healthcare devices, intelligent transportation, and streaming video. Lipoff predicts new applications such as pattern recognition and various forms of artificial intelligence, including facial recognition, will be among the product features consumers can expect in the future.

Streaming Web-Based Video
A large number of consumers around the globe already access and consume video entertainment via the web. According to Richard Doherty, IEEE Senior Member, 2012 will serve as a tipping point for online video consumption – when even more households will have access to streaming video.

According to Doherty, streaming video is doing very well in geographies across the globe that have access to broadband, and exceptionally well in Eastern European and Asian markets where streaming video is now becoming the standard format for delivery of content.

The upswing in web-based video streaming can be credited to the widespread availability of video-capable internet TVs and external devices,” said Doherty. ”These devices include video consoles and innovative, optimized net streaming boxes.”

Intelligent Transportation
Safer, faster, more convenient transportation is a growing trend impacting commuters and consumers worldwide. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) focus on the use of ordinary devices (such as a cell phone or GPS) that are enabled with built-in custom software so cars and buses can “communicate” with roadways and transportation systems.

Developments in consumer electronics for ITS are leading to a future where the technology can help provide a more streamlined traffic flow, better usage of energy resources and fewer vehicular accidents.  As such, car companies are partnering with internet software companies to provide innovative technical advances at the touch of a button on a steering wheel.

“Consumers everywhere will benefit from the advancement of ITS,” said IEEE Senior Member Alberto Broggi. “Vehicles will be able to monitor their surroundings and warn drivers of pedestrians, traffic patterns, and other vehicles, resulting in safer commuting. Advanced sensors will allow vehicles to detect and warn drivers of any immediate stops or dangers in the way of the vehicle, which can significantly decrease the likelihood of vehicle accidents.”

Automated Metadata
Dr. Tom Coughlin, IEEE Senior Member, predicts devices that automatically aggregate and generate data such as location and time stamp information will continue to rise in popularity, helping consumers catalogue their experiences.

“When consumers take photographs or capture video or audio, they will be able to archive and access their information more easily,” said Coughlin.   ”The device will capture precisely where and when the photo or video was taken, and the format it was taken in, for quick and easy access. In the future, we’ll see that technology advance even further with the use of social networking interactions and image recognition technology creating new searchable content to enhance the value of the images.”

Automated metadata, or information about the data, will become more common as increased storage capabilities become available, such as those provided through cloud-based applications.

Convergence of Home Networking Technologies
Being able to leverage various home networking technologies to create seamless and reliable “always on” connectivity is something consumers can expect to see more of this year.

According to Oleg Logvinov, IEEE Standards Association Member, 2012 will mark the beginning of a new trend: the convergence of home networking technologies. This will enable a rich consumer experience providing the ability to use various types of devices to access multimedia content. Additionally, users will have an easy-to-use interface for home automation and energy management applications.

“As our technologies become unified, consumers will be given the ability to monitor energy usage as a part of their daily routine,” said Logvinov. ”This function will become an integral part of the user experience, allowing them to modify their behavior to become more energy efficient.” Watch Oleg Logvinov discuss the growth of home technologies from the CES show floor on IEEE’s YouTube page.

In addition to devices being connected within the home, IEEE Senior Member Nahum Gershon adds, “We will see more companies leveraging social media with mobile devices to connect people at work across organizational and geographical boundaries. Gazelle (www.gazelle.com), the nation’s largest consumer electronics direct-to-consumer reCommerce service, announced January 13 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the results of a survey that polled show-floor attendees to reveal connections between mobile phone ownership and one’s outlook on life.

The survey aimed to draw a correlation between one’s level of optimism or pessimism and the smartphone and tablet one owns. The results were particularly telling and, amongst the juiciest of findings, the survey pointed to the fact that 29% of iPhone owners expect the best in uncertain times, 3% more than the next set of users (Android).

The study also showed that 33% of BlackBerry users hardly ever expect things to go their way, suggesting an overall malaise amongst BlackBerry users.  Research also found that iPhone users were particularly resilient in these tough economic conditions with 36% saying they don’t get upset too easily, even during difficult economic times.

Because Gazelle accepts hundreds of thousands of consumer electronic trade-ins each year, the company serves as a unique barometer of U.S. consumer electronics consumption habits.  Gazelle is using CES to celebrate collective consumer love for gadgets and to better understand, with a twist, the sociology behind certain Smartphone and tablet users.

Occupy Wall Street, which has been going strong for well over a month, is beginning to be a new topic of discussion among the GOP presidential hopefuls. During the GOP debate in Las Vegas, the candidates were asked: “How do you explain the Occupy Wall Street movement happening across the country and how does it relate to your movement?”

Herman Cain has voiced his opinions previously about Occupy Wall Street in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “Don’t blame Wall Street, don’t blame the big banks, if you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself,” he said at the time.

Herman Cain clarified his earlier comments by making it clear that he thought the protesters are directing their anger at the wrong place. He believes that protesters shouldn’t be at Wall Street targeting the banks, but in front of the White House instead. Cain has also spoken out about how he thinks the protests have been a way to distract the public from Obama’s failed policies in hopes to get re-elected.

Congressman Ron Paul differed in his reaction to the movement. “I think Mr. Cain has blamed the victims,” he said. Paul has voiced his empathy for the middle class and blames the banks and the Federal Reserve for the current economic crisis. He also stated, “If you had to give money out, you should have given it to people who were losing their mortgages, not to the banks.”

In the previous debate held at Dartmouth, Newt Gingrich talked about the protesters on Wall Street. He stated, “I think the people who are protesting on Wall Street break into two groups. One is left-wing agitators who would be happy to show up next week on any other topic, and the other is sincere middle-class people who, frankly, are very close to the Tea Party people and actually care.”

He went on to say that the solution to the protests was to fire Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke and that the protestors should be directing their anger toward the federal government.

Rick Perry discussed his stance on the regulations in Wall Street, and what he thought about the protesters in an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood. He states, “I hope what they will see is that America’s a fabulous country and it gives them the opportunity to go say your peace, go protest on the street.”

At an appearance in Florida, Mitt Romney talked of the protest by stating, “I think it’s dangerous, this class warfare.” With the protest showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, it seems as if Occupy Wall Street is beginning to be a legitimate topic that the Republican GOP candidates will have to face in the future.

For all those who have visited Las Vegas, you will no doubt agree with what I am about to say. Las Vegas is incredible!!  For those who have yet to visit this Iconic city, let me enlighten you on a few restaurants that I have visited there.  In particular, the Sugar Factory”.  Yes the name invokes thoughts of mountains of sweet confection, but the delightful surprise is that this establishment triples as an extraordinary European style brassiere, imaginary sweet shop, and hip, trendy nightclub with a sinful chocolate lounge.

This was truly a fascinating experience for me and thanks to the special tour provided by general manager Mark Steele, I have now become an avid fan of the Sugar Factory.

I was in the mood for a light lunch and after hours of walking the strip, desperately needing to rest my weary bones; I ducked into an inviting bright and refreshing restaurant. The color scheme was crisp black and white dripping with crystal chandeliers that lent to the sense that you were dining a in an authentic corner bistro on the broad streets of the champ de ellsye in the heart of “Gay Parree”

Located next to the Paris hotel and casino complete with a huge working Eiffel tower and directly across the street from the famed Bellagio water fountain spectacle, this restaurant was ideal for meals and people watching.  I started my lunch with a …..

• Grilled Chicken crepe- herb crepe filled with roasted fresh mushrooms and chunks of seasoned grilled chicken.  Folded into a light airy crepe the size of a Christmas platter served with a spinach-artichoke béchamel sauce. And side dish of greens trickled with a balsamic vinaigrette. Enticing

• Vanilla bean Floating Island- a whimsical desert- a goose egg shaped ball of foam like toasted meringue drizzled with sweet caramel sauce floating on a puddle of vanilla bean chocolate sauce. Sprinkled with fresh berries, oranges, fanciful delicate edible flower, and a mint flavored hot pink short bread cookie.  Each bite was a morsel of sweet heaven. Miraculously light & fluffy. The berries and dandelion petite flowers melt in your mouth. Its then that you realize that you are actually eating something that ironically you would have normally sprayed with Weed B Gone.

One thing I noticed about the Sugar Factory is it’s extensive menu.

Breakfasts include an array of choices, such as omelets, frittatas, eggs benedict, Belgian waffles, French toasts, and Red Velvet Pancakes. Yummmm

Lunch & dinner ranges from savory and sweet crepes, soups & fresh salads, customized pizzas, burgers, pastas and grilled foods.

Desert is a kaleidoscope of tarts, sweet pizzas, European style pastries, fondues, and old-fashioned sundaes and shakes.

My tour started with the restaurant and moved into the sweet shop.  There you will find celebrity couture lollipops, signature flavored lollipops with gem-encrusted sticks that can be swapped out when the candy is gone. Top celebrities the likes of Britney Spears & Kim Kardashian endorse each confection. The store is fanciful and fantastical, much like a visit down the rabbit hole of Alice in wonderland.  The shelves are lined with mounds of gourmet cupcakes, sugary delights, sour puckers, and sweet éclairs.

Then just off the Sweet shop through velvety heavy drapes was the sultry, Chocolate Lounge. A room where you can sit and engaged in the most decadent of repasts, deep dark, chocolate overload.  Amber muted lights give way to intimate seating lounges. Where you can dine on the elixir of the gods in the form of every type of chocolate morsel you can think of. Discreet bartenders are ready to serve, satiny drinks, brandy and Sherries. A perfect introduction to what the night may hold for you at The Chateau located upstairs on the roof of the restaurant.

This rooftop club, a hip and trendy hot spot in Las Vegas has incredible views of the nightlife of Vegas. As you retreat further into the club, you can gaze upon the throngs of people dancing to the pulsing beats of elite DJs perched atop of a massive marble fireplace.

With all the restaurants, bistros and cafes available in Las Vegas, it is hard to choose which one you should visit.  I can certainly suggest to you that The Sugar Factory should be first on your list. Then go back again in the evening to work off the calories you put on earlier in the day.
