The set-up

In addition to five brand new songs, the album includes updated versions of four of his old classics plus a nice cover of a Lovin’ Spoonful hit from the ’60s.

The kids
On four of the songs, Howie is backed by his children, Keith and Jen. They provide backup vocals and Keith does some nice flute work on “Do You Believe in Magic?” and “Big in Belgium.”

You Shoulda Been There is an amusing assortment of tunes that resonates with people of all ages. Listen, laugh and sing along. It’s well worth the trip.
