The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

London, U.K. – On September 24, 2012, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced Harvey Elliott as the new Chairman of its Games Committee. Harvey replaces Ray Maguire whose term as Chairman ended in July, but remains on the Committee as an elected member. Harvey is the Managing Director and COO of Marmalade, a leading cross-platform software technology business, and oversees the Ideaworks Game Studio under the same company group.

Starting September 24, 2012 the British Academy Games Awards in 2013 open for entries. The Awards include one new category, Best British Game, that celebrates the best game across all platforms created by a British development studio.

For the first time this year, studios and developers will qualify for one complimentary game entry if they enter their games into the Awards before Monday October 22, 2012, helping the Awards to be as inclusive as possible.

Campaigning has also been introduced, which brings the Awards into line with BAFTA’s other annual Awards ceremonies. More information on this and the entry process, rules and guidelines can be found at www.bafta.org/games.

Harvey Elliott, Chairman of the BAFTA Games Committee, said: “I am looking forward to developing BAFTA’s games strategy during my new Chairmanship. As part of this, I am very excited to announce our new Best British Game category, giving us the opportunity to reward thegreat wealth of British talent in our industry.

In addition, we are offering a complimentary entry to each company, making the Awards more accessible, particularly to those smaller developers, and hopefully seeing more games being put forward for consideration than ever before.”
Comedian and gamer Dara O’Briain will host the Awards ceremony for the fifth year running, which takes place on Tuesday March 5, 2013 at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the artforms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.

In addition to its Awards ceremonies, BAFTA has a year-round Learning & Events programme that offers unique access to some of the world’s most inspiring talent through workshops, masterclasses, lectures and mentoring schemes, connecting with audiences of all ages and backgrounds across the UK, Los Angeles and New York. BAFTA relies on income from membership subscriptions, individual donations, trusts, foundations and corporate partnerships to support its ongoing outreach work.
Harvey joined Ideaworks3D Ltd in June 2012 as Managing Director & COO, overseeing the Ideaworks Game Studio, and the Marmaladetechnology; that enables game and app developers to create rich content to release across a multitude of mobile devices, phones, tablets smart TVs anddesktop computers.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Liverpool, England — Setgo announced on September 10, 2012, that it has agreed to give existing customers of Marmalade, the world’s most powerful cross-platform SDK for native mobile apps, access to an exclusive free trial of its increasingly popular analytics solution Pingflux.

Pingflux allows developers and publishers to gain a better and deeper understanding of what is happening when users interact with their titles after launch. Our elegant and flexible solution allows users to see any one event in many different contexts. Pingflux does not impose segregation of data, which helps build an unrestricted view of user interactions and adapts to our customers’ needs, not the other way around.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to companies who are using Marmalade for their titles, many of which have told us of their frustrations with the limitations and one-size-fits-all approach of other analytics solutions in the market.

Through our light-weight Pingflux SDK for Marmalade we hope to demonstrate that we offer a service that meets the evolving needs of developers, and which allows you to view all your apps, across all platforms, in one common interface.”, said Clemens Wangerin, Managing Director.

Tim Closs, CTO at Marmalade said “Marmalade lets developers build and distribute cross-platform applications on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and desktop platforms quickly, easily and without compromise. Pingflux has impressed us with its truly platform-agnostic approach and a level of flexibility we haven’t seen before. We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers this terrific opportunity to trial the Pingflux SDK for Marmalade for free.”

As part of this arrangement, registered applicants in the trial will receive assistance during the initial integration of the Pingflux SDK for Marmalade, documentation and online support and access to browse and interrogate their data. Each trial lasts for 8 weeks and existing Marmalade license holders must register at: www.pingflux.com/analytics/marmaladetrial.

About Setgo

Setgo is based in Liverpool, England and was established to create technology for all online gaming platforms. With Pingflux, the company offers a truly platform agnostic analytics solution for games and apps on all online platforms. Pingflux provides developers and publishers with the immediate insights they need in today’s fast moving market, which in turn leads to increased understanding of player behaviour.

About Marmalade

Marmalade is a cross-platform development environment for rich apps and games on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and desktop platforms. Marmalade allows developers to compile a single codebase to native CPU instructions, then deploy apps easily to all iOS, Android, Blackberry 10, Windows and Mac devices, as well as other platforms including selected smart TVs. Marmalade has been adopted by thousands of developers around the world, including leading publishers and has enabled a number of high profile, high performance AAA titles and many #1 games on the Apple App Store.
