The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Jason and Julie (Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt) are single thirty-something Manhattanites. They’ve been best friends since college, they live in the same building, trust each other implicitly – and aren’t remotely attracted to each other.

As the film opens, they meet at a chic downtown restaurant for a dinner with their closest friends, two married couples: Leslie and Alex (Maya Rudolph and Chris O’ Dowd), funny and frank — and Ben and Missy (Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig), such a sexy pair that they are in fact having a quickie in the restaurant bathroom when Julie and Jason arrive.

Jason notices the behavior of some unruly children being seated at the table next to them – and he and Julie riff on how inappropriate it is to bring kids to such a sophisticated place. But their comic rant is cut short when Leslie suddenly blurts out that she’s pregnant.

Mortified, Julie and Jason turn on a dime and congratulate their friends wholeheartedly – and earnestly: it’s the first of their close friends to take the plunge. Leslie and Alex reassure them that they would never bring their kids to a fancy restaurant – they’re gonna be cool parents, and nothing is going to change.

Fast forward to four years later – and everything has changed.

Leslie and Alex have two kids, Missy and Ben have a newborn – and Jason and Julie, still single and childless, find themselves taking a long expensive cab ride to Alex and Leslie’s apartment in Brooklyn – on Jason’s birthday. They have brought the wine, the food, the cake, Julie has brought the only birthday gift for Jason – and when they arrive, the mood is not remotely festive. Their friends are sniping at each other, harried and utterly consumed by the demands of parenting.

On their way home from what proves to be a funny, entirely chaotic and thoroughly unsatisfying birthday celebration, Julie and Jason end up in a bar, wondering what’s happened to their friends – who now seem overwhelmed, exhausted, angry, humorless – altogether unfamiliar.

Is this what happens when you have kids? Julie and Jason riff on whether you can maintain true romance in your life – and also have children. Jason offhandedly suggests that maybe they should have a kid together and beat the system – be with their kid half the time, and pursue unfettered, uncomplicated romance the other half.

It’s a funny joke… or is it?

Julie and Jason have their baby – Joe – and all is well. They are the most competent, functional, loving pair of unmarried, unattached parents one could hope to see (much to their friends’ chagrin), and they both start to date. Jason meets Maryjane (Megan Fox), a lithe Broadway dancer who is Jason’s physical ideal and Leslie introduces Julie to Kurt (Edward Burns), dashing, tall, impossibly kind – and recently divorced, with two kids of his own.

Have Julie and Jason beat the system?

Nothing proves as simple as they’d hoped. Their friends – who can’t help feeling they are part of the system Julie and Jason have set out to “beat” – are threatened by their friends’ choice and how well it seems to be working. And Julie, even as she gets more and more deeply involved with Kurt, finds herself falling hard for Jason – despite the fact that she’s thought of him as a brother for nearly two decades.

Having kids proves to be the crucible through which all of these friends’ lives are forever changed – in sweeping and surprising ways. There is great comedy and enormous feeling in this story about discovering the love of your life in the way you were least expecting.

‘Friends With Kids’ is set for major release in cinemas around the USA on March 9.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Plastic surgery has long since begun its separation from curing a scar. The corrective procedures called plastic surgery were originally designed for fixing an issue that scarred an individual, or kept them from functioning in a normal way.

However, over the years it has evolved into a way of improving a person’s overall appearance and self-esteem. Many who undergo plastic surgery do it for aesthetic reasons, but some take it much too far. Recently an 83-year-old woman named Marie Kolstad, received a breast lift and implants. This incident in particular stands out from others because of Kolstad’s age.

It has been becoming more and more popular for older people to receive plastic surgery over the years, and Kolstad is just an extreme example of this

There is a lot of controversy over who and if a person should undergo the procedures, such as implants, nose jobs, chin tucks, and more. Age only increases people’s argument either for or against their view of what is appropriate.

Some say that age is all the more reason because you are wiser and know what you want, while some say that older people should be comfortable with their bodies and not want to change who they are.

Should people be supportive of this kind of behavior by older people? It seems so unhealthy for an older person who is already at risk for many health problems to weaken themselves by going through some very invasive procedures.

The anesthesia itself becomes more and more risky and life-threatening the older a person gets. Yet, amazing over 84,000 people over the age of 65 went through with these procedures.

Yes, society says for women to be beautiful, but how far will some people go? Society puts so much pressure on not only women, but men as well to be perfect in every way. Aging is a natural thing, but we try to fight it to stay young and beautiful for as long as we can. However, how far should we go before it is no longer safe?

We all assume that we can get young and we can act young and try to look the part, but we will never be that young again. Society should be a lot more understanding of the human body and its natural cyle than we currently are, but we all know that will take some time to get to that point.

Pressure to be perfect creates more problems than we know. Some people who opt for plastic surgery do not have a healthy self-image. They do not appreciate their own beauty. They decide to perfect what is already beautiful because of what is relayed to us as the ideal body and image through outlets such as TV, the internet, and advertisements.

More awareness of this global issue could potentially bring about a more positive reinforcement from parents, teachers, family, and friends.

So, next time you look in the mirror and think that your nose is a little curved, or your chest is a little too small, just remember that you were born that way for a reason, and to love yourself all the more for it.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The new Transformers movie just came out and everyone is wondering who will be better as Shia Labeouf’s love interest? Megan Fox or Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington? Megan Fox was recently let go from the Transformers movie after a confrontation with director Micheal Bay. According to Megan Fox, it was her decision not to return for the third movie, which to some is hard to believe. The Transformers movie not only made her career, but also helped her gain more opportunities as an actress instead of a model. Both Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington are not known for the acting abilities, but for they’re beauty. Therefore will Rosie Hunington surprise everyone and top Megan Fox’s performance in Transformers 1 and 2?

Shia Labeouf said the third movie will be the best one out of them all. Is this because of Rosie Huntington? Micheal Bay stated that Megan Fox was not one of the easiest people to work with on set and she showed that after comparing the producer to Hitler. He also stated that it makes sense for Shia Labeouf’s character to have a new love interest anyway so why Rosie Huntington? First, there is no doubt that she will fulfill the sexy persona while running away from robots. Also, she is nothing but excited to work with Micheal Bay.

Recently, at the MTV music awards 2011, Rosie Huntington was interviewed on her relationship with the director. She went on to say she loves his humor and his work ethic, much like her own. Rosie is defiantly giving hollywood a run for her money. Micheal Bay and all of the costars all stated that she is a great actress and that she is making the new love interest between herself and Shia Labeouf very much real. She also stated that to be an actress in this type of a movie, you have to be one of the guys. This is suprising coming from a Victoria’ Secrets Angel. She is known as the tomboy out of all of the angels and she is not afraid to come out of her comfort zone. Going from a model to an actress can be difficult, especially when the movie is as action packed as Transformers. Even Victoria Secret Inc. knows she will not fail to disappoint any Transformers’ fans. After getting the part, Victoria Secret released a congratulations video. The 90 second video can be found on the Victoria’s Secret fan page. The video is a series of pictures and video clips of the model on the runway, and on photoshoots with explosions and fire in the background to give it that “Transformers Feel.”

It is hard to say whether America will judge Rosie’s performance in the new movie based on her looks or her talent. Megan Fox was never hyped up to be a great actress, especially after Jennifer’s Body premiere. To say the least, being a Victoria Secrets Angel is nothing but easy, so Rosie Huntington should be perfect for the role. I must say, it is a little weird watching the Transformers 3 trailer with a new model as Shia Labeouf’s love interest but it is hard to tell whether she pulled it off without seeing the movie. So, America will just have to go see the movie to make the decision whether or not Rosie Huntington will be the next great thing in Hollywood.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox are reportedly competing for the leading role in a possible remake of “Carrie.”

There is some good and bad news that’s coming with this whole ordeal.

First of all, “Carrie” was a classic. It had a few Oscar nominations, which is rare for a horror movie. Plus, this movie is still creepy after three decades. So why would anyone want to remake something that was so memorable the first time?

To start, the good news that comes with this is that not everyone agrees on the classic part. Some might think that this film had potential to be amazing, but had a so-so result.

Now here’s the real deal- Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox being in consideration to take the part? Now that would result in some interesting outcomes.

Lindsay Lohan might have a chance considering that she does portray the teen-Sissy Spacek look. Lindsay’s sandy-blonde hair and freckles match Sissy’s look. Also, Lindsay isn’t really the pretty type…although others may disagree on that too. But either way, her look can easily present the poor victim that the mean girls pick on. And with all of Lindsay’s trouble she’s been into, she could probably act out her tantrums that Carrie’s religious mother causes her pretty well. And the prom scene would be pretty fitting too.

The downfall on Lindsay taking on this role is the fact that it’s Lindsay Lohan and not someone who didn’t blow her big chance on becoming a seriously taken actress, but who rather chose to take on a different spotlight- the spotlight that shines down on drinking and driving, frequent trips to rehab, court, jail sentences, allegedly stealing jewelry, etc. The public is seeing Lindsay as just a joke who continues to screw herself over. So to have Lindsay take on a role that was a memorable classic thirty years ago? That would just bring the troubled actress some extra haters.

As for Megan Fox taking on the role, there are some pros and cons with that one as well. Megan would definitely portray the lead of a horror movie well. She has the mysterious, eerie look that would fit for a creepy movie. Also, her character in “Jennifer’s Body” would show a guaranteed exciting prom scene. Megan is also doing splendidly in her career. Although she’s not taken seriously, who can help but experience a guilty pleasure when she gives the look of sultry charm?

However, the scale does boost low for Megan. Can an audience really believe sultry charm as a victim? Can anyone really imagine a gorgeous starlet getting picked on by the nasty girls? Especially during the “Plug it up!” scene?

“Carrie” may not need to be remade, but if that’s what it comes down to, then maybe they can find an actress who won’t be too busy in court to film…and also someone who isn’t a 25 on a 1-10 beauty scale.
