The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Global Festival 2012 will take place on September 29 in New York’s Central Park at the same time of the United Nations’ General Assembly in New York. The festival will be headlined by the Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Band of Horses, and K’NAAN, who will join around 54,000 attendees.

The charity festival is “a catalytic event to end extreme poverty,” as stated on the show’s Facebook page. It is part of the Global Poverty Project, and the spirit behind the organization of the show has been expressed by the organizers, who wrote: “The fight for justice has never been easy. But human history has always been shaped by courageous actions and a vision of a better world. As Global Citizens, we’ve put our hands up to stand against the greatest injustice of our time: extreme poverty.”

No tickets will be sold; they have to be earned. This is the “action” part. People (18+) will be able to participate to a lottery for the chance to win tickets for the event by completing some steps as explained on the Global Citizen’s website. After taking actions such as signing petitions, promoting awareness via social networks, making donations and so on, people can earn points that will open them to the doors to the lottery.

For the organization of the event, The Global Poverty Project is assisted by promoters Goldenvoice/AEG. The festival will be financed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Sumner Redstone Charity Foundation, with the participation of international groups such as UNICEF.

Organizer, Hugh Evans, said the goal of the event is to have fans take 100,000 actions by September. This will then be used as leverage when asking the world’s leaders, who will be in town during the event, to make monetary commitments for reaching development goals.

According to Huff Post, The Black Key’s Patrick Carney said about the event: “The scale of things that they’re trying do just felt really cool, and we’re trying to get the ball rolling. Especially with everything that’s been going on for the last three years, I suppose, after the stock market crashed. There’s attention on the amount of people living below the poverty line and the disparity between the rich and the poor and everything that’s going on now … . It just felt like the right time to do something.”

Foo Fighters released a statement which read “We are very proud to be lending a hand to such a creative, important event and are looking forward to adding to the noise in the big park and helping the effort toward reducing the global shame of deep poverty.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The Greenville Music Festival will take place from the 27th to the 29th of July 2012, in Paaren im Gliem, Germany, a short trip from Berlin. Greenville’s slogan “hear it, feel it, be it” defines the attitude attendees should embrace when going to this music festival. Nobody is left out; Greenville’s vision is to take different music genres and styles, and make them smoothly merge into a performance able to unify music lovers. That is the only requirement to enjoy the festival: love for music.

The website of the event describes its idea, “In a world full of choices action and desires all question who we are and where we belong. icons, rebels and creative spirits provide our inspiration. philosophers and visionaries – artists and musicians alike who follow their instincts and believes many of our [inspirers] are those we only wish we had known, from jimy hendrix to steve mcqueen, amy winehouse to kurt cobain, bob marley to tupac shakur, frank sinatra to mark spoon- please feel welcome to share and join GREENVILLE, our vision of music, arts and party […]greenville festival is our road to what we want out of life outside our lives a very warm welcome to all our believers!”

In the country famous for its Metal festivals, which take the stage during German summers every year, Greenville offers a selection of some of the artists that are shaping the many music genres much appreciated by fans. Rock, Pop, Electronic Music, Alternative, Indie-Rock are featured at Greenville.

Among all the live performances hosted, Greenville Festival will feature the performance of Iggy Pop and The Stooges. The Godfather of punk and his band chose Greenville to give fans some of the astonishing energy that characterizes Iggy Pop. Iggy and The Stooges will perform on July 29.

For those who want to take a break from the live performances, there will be art areas, gaming areas, tattoo artists, and so on and so forth. There doesn’t seem to be any chance to get bored at this festival. After the concerts, the attendees will have the chance to part until dawn, with the DJ Nights organized by the Festival in the Brandenburghalle in Pareen im Glien. Furthermore, following the trend of some of the major music festivals in the world, Greenville festival stays faithful to its name taking care of the environment. For example, the electrical power for the entire festival will be generated by alternative sources of energy.

Select performances from Bonnaroo’s Comedy Theatre will be filmed and edited into an original one-hour compilation stand-up special to debut on COMEDY CENTRAL in summer 2012.

Since its inauguration in 2004, the Comedy Theatre at Bonnaroo has become a favorite stop at the festival and has hosted some of the biggest comics touring today. The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is scheduled to take place June 7 – 10 in Manchester, TN. The full 2012 Comedy Theatre line-up was just announced last week and available at www.bonnaroo.com.

“Our relationship with Bonnaroo started with last year’s digital multi-platform experience and has now expanded into producing an on-air comedy special as well as partnering on programming for the Comedy Theatre,” said Larsen. “Needless to say, we are thrilled to take part in this event and to take all the credit for its success.”

“Evolving the Bonnaroo media property onto a major broadcast platform is an important step for us,” saidChad Issaq, EVP of Business Development for Superfly Marketing Group, who oversees partnerships for Bonnaroo. “We look forward to providing plenty of laughs with our friends at COMEDY CENTRAL. I just hope they’ve got a sense of humor, because spending a week down on the farm is no joke.”

In the 11th year of the festival, organizers have just announced one of the most eclectic and striking lineups to date, drawing from an astounding range of music scenes to create what is sure to be another incomparable weekend for the ages.

The breadth of the programming is consistently innovative each year and has become one of the key signature aspects of this legendary festival, whose uniquely open minded yet discerning and passionate community thrives on its intelligent diversity.

As the only round-the-clock major U.S. music festival, Bonnaroo packs an unparalleled amount of entertainment options into its four days. The event has offered its attendees the amenities and community spirit of a small city, with 24 hours of activities including a comedy theater, cinema festival, broo’ers festival, silent disco, salon, sustainable gardening lessons, arcade, Internet cafes, restaurants, yoga classes and hundreds of high quality food and craft vendors.

Rolling Stone magazine called the 2011 event “epic,” saying the weekend was full of “surprise and wonder.” Stephen Stills of Buffalo Springfield intoned, “If Woodstock were like this, we never would have left.”

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The summer festival Rock en Seine, was held in Paris on the last weekend of August. The 9th edition of the Rock en Seine festival took place on the Park of Domaine National de Saint Cloud, asuburban area very closed to Paris, from August Friday 26 to Sunday 28. This eclectic music manifestation welcomed around 108,000 visitors who enjoyed the art of 63 bands.

During these three days, the audience was able to appreciate numerous styles of music. Each category of bands/singers were performing on 4 different stages. Each stage represente d a type of artist. The bigger stage (Grande Scène), with a most important audience and usually for the most popular bands, the Scène de l’Industrie, the Scène de la Cascade and the Scène Pression Live.

Every year, this festival presents a programme of various performers that always tend to outdo the ones of the previous years. The concerts were composed of rock music, folk, groove, hip-hop and electro. For many years, Rock en Seine kept some kind of balance between top of the bill bands and others which are willing to be known, mixing both type of bands on the same stage.

Plus, the Parisian festival remained faithful to the idea of having a show with French and international performers. We can say that the festival has come a long way from the first edition, nine years ago, which used to last a day. The festival back then only took place on two stages.

The festival started on Friday, with Biffy Clyro, an alternative-metal band from Scotland. We also had the pleasure to see Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, The Kills, CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy: fed up to be sexy, an electo-pop band), Kid Cuddy, Herman Dune (folk), Death in Vegas and many others.

Saturday included music from the Arctic Monkeys, The Streets, Hushpuppies, Keren Ann, CocoRosie, BB Brunes, The Wombats, and Blond Redhead. The last day included a 30 musician orchestra which amazed the audience. Fans of neo metal were more than delighted to prove that they remember the Deftones’ songs.

My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Tinie Tempah, Lilly Woods and the Pricks and many others performed to make this week end unforgettable. A specificity of the festival is Mini Rock Festival for children, to teach them how to be the rock stars of the future, with games and fancy clothing.

If you want to see more of French music festival, look forward to La fête de l’Huma, which has great importance and will be in September.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

This past weekend was one of anticipation and excitement as fans came out to see the popular English rock band Coldplay perform at Glastonbury, England’s renowned music festival. The presence of this Grammy award winning band made this spectacular event even more amazing, it was their 1st headlined Glastonbury appearance since 2005.

The festive city was filled with bright lights and a screaming crowd as the band got down and performed a number of the fans favorite hits on the legendary pyramid stage. Keeping that excitement alive, they surprised fans with not only one or two news songs, but a total of four unreleased tracks. Right before giving fans a taste of their upcoming album, lead singer Chris Martin warned the crowd “Please forgive us for playing new songs, one day they’ll be your favourites, but now it’s OK to be thinking, ‘What the fuck?’”

And judging by their reaction, the fans loved each one. The new tracks include: ‘Hurts Like Heaven’, ‘Major Minus’, ‘Us Against The World’, and ‘Charlie Brown.’ This performance marked the very first time these songs were played live in the UK. It’s been quite some time since their last album Viva La Vida which sold nearly seven million copies back in 2008, but after three years they’re back to give fans more great music.

A few days ago, in this beautiful city I live in, we had the pleasure of visiting the “Music Day” (Día de la música), and assist to live show in several stages around the city. It was a thriller experience!

We also had the chance to listen to new artists and see how everybody danced, jumped and enjoyed their music.

The ‘Madrid’s Music day” is a huge music festival organized by Heineken, divided in 3 different days and stages in the city.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

For all of you out there, one of the greatest music Festivals in Germany is returning this year, gathering together many bands, to satisfied many followers. If you were waiting for finding a place where you can have fun with friends, and having the possibility to hear awesome music, this is your opportunity!

The Hurricane festival has become really famous, and it0s beginnings go around 1997. It has gain a great reputation of being one of the best and most popular rock festivals in Germany. The festival is located in the North-West of Germany in the Scheeßel, Lower Saxony. The dates from this year’s festival are from Friday the 17th till Sunday 19th of June. The three day ticket price costs €128.25, but the variety of artists that will perform in the festival compensates this cost without a doubt.

The festival not only brings awesome music, but it also combines a great atmosphere where friends can gather and stay for a couple of days together clearing their minds and having fun. Many young people in Germany are frequently visitors of this festival, and it is expected every year with a lot of enthusiasm since the previous memories gathered from it are too good, that they cannot wait to live it one more time.

This year the festivl brings many artists and we will count with the presence of The Kaiser Chiefs, Foo Fighters, Blink 183, Arcade Fire, The Chemical Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, The Hives, Two Door Cinema Club, Band of Horses, The Wombats, Friendly Fires, Clueso, Suede, Kasabian, The Subways, Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Elbow, Sublime with rome, Boysetsfire, Selig, The Sounds, All time low, Sick of it all, Parkway drive, William Fitzsimmons, Blood Red Shoes, Jupert Jones, I am Kloot, Darwin Deez, Converge, The asteroids Galaxy, among many other…

The festival has a great atmosphere hosting a great amount of fans, that want to have an awesome time. The festival counts with a camping zone, many food stalls that provide many variety of food, and games such as bungee jumping. Tons of stages surround the festival area, and the different music styles satisfied the different music tastes.

Many young people expect this festival since from previous experiences every year it tends to get even better. And I think that in that part we all agree, since there are not many opportunities where you can enjoy many of your favorite artists, playing live during an entire weekend.
