The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

New York, U.S.A — Simon & Schuster Audio is pleased to announce that award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris will narrate The Bro Code for Parents: What to Expect When You’re Awesome as Barney Stinson, due out October 2, 2012. The audiobook will be available unabridged on CD and for digital download.

Harris is best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother and the title role on Doogie Howser, M.D., for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. He has also starred as a fictionalized version of himself in the Harold & Kumar series and played the title role in Joss Whedon’s musical web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Harris has appeared on Broadway inCabaret, Proof, and Assassins.

“I love listening to The Bro Code for Parents, because it’s exactly how I hear Barney’s voice in my head,” says co-author Matt Kuhn, a writer for How I Met Your Mother. ”It’s like my grandmother always said: ‘Why read when you can have beloved star of stage and screen Neil Patrick Harris read for you?’”

The Bro Code for Parents is the newest addition to the Barney Stinson canon, following the New York Times bestsellers also read by Harris, The Bro Code and The Playbook.

The Bro Code for Parents helps teach prospective parents everything they need to know to have a legendary kid by answering some the toughest questions facing new parents: Will I ever be able to do awesome things again? Will I be able to afford this? Can I ever have sex again? Will I be a good parent? Am I able to love this child as much as I love my own life? Can I ever have sex again?

Stinson says the answer to all of these questions is a rock solid “no.” But just because your life is now a petrifying turd on the canvas of life doesn’t mean your kid has to be as lame as you are about to become. And he’s here to help anyone become an “awesomommy” or “legendaddy.”

The Bro Code for Parents will also be available in print and as an ebook from Touchstone Books.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Smurf, Smurfette, and Clumsy Smurf, from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation’s The Smurfs, were honored today with a Handprint Ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, cementing their Hollywood legacy. The Smurfs join Hollywood’s legends after celebrating more than 50 years of entertaining fans of the franchise.

“The Smurfs have been an important part of pop culture for the last 50 years. It seems only appropriate that their legacy be acknowledged by the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre,” said Bob Osher, President, Sony Pictures Digital Productions.

The film is directed by Raja Gosnell (Scooby Doo) and stars Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”), Jayma Mays (TV’s “Glee”), Sofia Vergara (TV’s “Modern Family”), and Hank Azaria (TV’s “The Simpsons”) as Gargamel. It also features the voices of singing sensation Katy Perry as Smurfette, George Lopez (Rio) as Grouchy, and Jonathan Winters (The Flintstones) as the original Papa Smurf.

The Smurfs were first introduced to the world in 1958 as comic book characters called “The Schtroumpfs,” created by Belgian artist Pierre “Peyo” Culliford. An immediate sensation – they generated a wave of letters to the editor demanding more – and over the next fifty years, they became nothing short of a phenomenon.

They were brought to life in comics, books, television series, films, videogames, live shows, and figurines (more than 300 million sold). The characters’ cross-generational appeal has only grown as children who grew up on the Smurfs are now parents themselves, introducing their children to the Smurfs for the first time.

About the Chinese Theatres

Since 1927, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre has been the home of the most important, star-powered, red carpet, movie premieres and special events, where Hollywood’s biggest and brightest talents have come to watch their movies. The most famous movie theatre on the globe is world-renowned for its unique forecourt of the stars, featuring cement hand and footprints of major movie stars, from Marilyn Monroe to Brad Pitt, and numerous stars from all eras of Hollywood.

In addition to being a major international tourist destination, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and its six adjacent cinemas, the Chinese 6, are everyday working movie theatres, hosting millions of moviegoers year round.

Grauman’s Chinese Theatre was declared a historic-cultural landmark in 1968, and there has always been a restoration program in process to maintain the theatre’s beauty.

With its current, on-going facelift and new added amenities and event spaces guided by a new and vigorous ownership team, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and its famed “hands in cement” forecourt will continue to be the preferred location for tourist visits and the entertainment industry’s most prestigious red carpet premieres.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

From comics, to the small TV screen series and now to the big cinema screen!

The Smurfs have been classic characters in the comics world, but now they have turned live. The Smurfs village, mushrooms houses, and blue colors are now being featured in 3D on cinemas, portraying an enjoyable and funny adventure.

On the Opening Weekend the movie gain a total of $35.6 millions in US. The total worldwide cipher reached $55.5 millions.

The Director, Raja Gosnell, leaves the audience satisfied once again. His previous productions and participation on films such as: Never Been Kissed (1999), Scooby-Doo (2002), Big Momma’s House (2000) and Home Alone 3 (1997) have placed him in a great position in the cinema industry.

The Smurfs were first introduced as a comic series, by the Belgian cartoonist Peyo, (Pierre Culliford) on October 23, 1958, The name “Smurfs” came up to Peyo’s mind when he was eating with his friend André Franquin and the world salt didn’t came up to his mind. Speaking in French he asked his friend to pass him the ( schroumpf). Franquin responded: “Here’s the Schtroumpf , when you are done schtroumpfing, schtroumpf it back…” and after joking around they translated this word into Dutch as Smurf.

The comic strips followed a same pattern where the storylines were full with adventures. The movie brings up again a lot of adventure, where the Smurfs by running away from the evil Gargamel (Hank Azaria), leave their world and end up in New York City.

What is really interesting about the movie is the combination of reality and unreality. These characters are in the real world for the first time. They ended up living with a married couple Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris), and Grace Winslow (Jayma Mays) whom at first were afraid by this blue creatures but at the end they form a great friendship.

Gargamel also ended up in the city, to chase after the Smurfs. The movie shows the essence of the Smurfs, and how these characters behave. As any other community they always want to stick together, and each Smurf collaborates and contributes with different tasks. Most of them look alike, all with their short with trousers, blue skin, and white hats.

The movie depicts several values as friendship, trust, and hope. The friendship among the Smurfs is something unique and solid, everyone cares about the other. Trust comes when they have to live in the real world with complete strangers, but immediately they opened themselves to the unknown and try to build a beautiful relationship with the humans. The last value is hope, which appears throughout all the movie, since the only thing that the Smurfs want to do is return to their home and they are just waiting to have a full moon so they can return, as the same way they arrived to the real world.

We can see how reality and fantasy show an amazing combination, but the movie shows how both of them cannot fit in one world. For the Smurfs it would be too dangerous to remain in the real world where they don’t belong, and humans would always want to take advantage of them.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The sitcom started out as a show documenting the love life of Ted by way of flashbacks from the future. Ted, played by Josh Radnor, recollects to his children in the year 2030 of how he met their mother years earlier (remaining effectively faithful to the series’ distinctive title). At the show’s core, it recounts how exactly Ted fell in love combined with the array of Ted friends, which include, Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) and Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) (Wikipedia).

When Ted’s best friend, played by Segel announces that he will propose to his girlfriend of many years portrayed by Hannigan. With that declaration Ted feels a sense of urgency showing is desire to pick up the pace on his life.

With his best friend proposing, Ted hopes to discover love and makes it his pursuit of what the show ultimately centers around. With the aid of his friend, bachelor Barney (Harris), Ted is on a journey wherein he eventually meets who he believes to be his true love (Smulders). Nonetheless, the comedy gains increasing momentum when it becomes apparent what Ted believes to be a romantic destiny isn’t exactly the most fitting conviction.

Coupled with this buffet of recollections and characters is the voice of Bob Saget who narrates the show in the past tense in order to portray the show’s comical happenings.

Beginning production in 2005, How I met Your Mother, has proven itself to have all the ingredients for an enduring television comedy having captured five Emmy Award wins over the years and maintaining solid ratings throughout its production. The CBS show is such a grand success that the program station has recently stated that the comedy has been renewed for two more seasons.

This fall, September 19th, the seventh season is scheduled to air, unquestionably a fact keeping viewers satisfied.
