The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Notorious Nineteen’s title is self-explanatory; Stephanie Plum’s life is nothing short of notorious and full of ridiculous once-in-a-lifetime happenings that occur daily. Janet Evanovich’s Notorious Nineteen was released on November 20, 2012 after a year of anticipating the next chapter of Stephanie Plum’s life.

Notorious Nineteen satisfies another installment to Evanovich’s series that is 18 years in the making; and does not show any sign of coming to an end. Stephanie Plum’s life is always full of surprises and cliffhangers, but still happens to be as destructive. This plot involves the usual components Evanovich’s fans expect such as; fire, gossip, and clever bond skips. Two other aspects to Stephanie Plum’s life that readers will not be disappointed with in this novel, is the wonderful love triangle that includes Ranger and Joe Morelli.

This review will not have any spoilers, but there are couple parts in the novel that can give the prospective reader a little more explanation of what to expect. While Evanovich’s main character, Stephanie Plum, is finding crazy ways to be successful at messing everything up, she does admit that she is happy with her life.

In the novel Stephanie Plum says, “And I am still pushing boundaries, flopping around in water that’s over my head. And here’s the scary part that I wouldn’t say out loud to anyone…I’m a little addicted to it. I like my crazy job and my disaster-prone life.”

At an earlier point in the novel, Stephanie finds herself making decisions that can definitely influence both her present life, as well as her future. No worries, she still has no idea what her future entails whether it deals with her love life, professional, or personal life. She does however choose to go with her instinct without worrying about the consequences.

One of the men in her life even says, “I’m giving you another opportunity to walk away from this.”

And her response?

“I can’t do that. I can’t walk away.”

Notorious Nineteen takes the reader to all sorts of places that are new and even crazier than before. Stephanie knows that she needs to step up her game, but what more can she do? She takes on all sorts of different roles throughout this novel, yet always staying true to her ultimate goal: take care of the loved ones in her life, and finding the bad guys.

The description of the novel on Janet Evanovich’s website ends with saying, “If Stephanie Plum wants to bring in a paycheck, she’ll have to remember: No guts, no glory.” Evanovich continues to be creative in finding new places and situations that Stephanie can get herself into, making this book a fast read. Page after page the reader will want to know what Stephanie comes up with next.

As for other news in Janet Evanovich’s life, do not expect a book tour or signing for this novel until Spring 2013. There has been a postponement due to illness in the family. Do not let this stop you from checking out the novel though; a must reader for sure.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Janet Evanovich has been writing and sharing character Stephanie Plum’s life since the first book of the series, One for the Money, was published in 1994. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter, who continues to find ways to make life interesting as well as extremely dangerous. Evanovich’s 18th book of the series was released in 2011, while the next in the series holds an anticipated release date of November 20, 2012. Here are 18 components to the series that are reason enough to spend time catching up with the series in time for the 19th book, entitled Notorious Nineteen.

Small town life: The novels show the humor in the small town lifestyle, gossip, the history of the town and everyone in it, and of course, the stories everyone wants to leave behind when they move away from home as an adult.

Female bounty hunters: Stephanie Plum is not the only female who tries to become a bounty hunter, making great competition and challenges.

Romance: Throughout the series, the reader will have a difficult time choosing between the two men Stephanie Plum has in her life. Their storyline is always interesting and even causes many cliffhangers.

Timing: Plum does not have any previous experience as a bounty hunter when she takes the job; she was just desperate. Timing is not always on her side, yet somehow, in the end, the timing works out, usually in a humorous manner.

Family ties: It is very neat to have a storyline that involves the main character’s family in a positive light. Although there may be drama going on in Plum’s family, whether it is her sister, parents, or grandma, at the end of the week, they always find time to eat together.

Comfort zone: Plum is a very strong woman, yet still struggles with stepping outside of her comfort zone. The readers are able to relate and cheer for her to push her boundaries.

Unfortunate connections: In relation to the small town situation, unfortunate connections tend to show up more times than not. No matter how unfortunate, there is always a good twist to it, past or present.

Jobs we hate: Especially in today’s economy, most can relate to having jobs that they do not enjoy and hope are temporary.

Finding your place in society: Plum has to work at getting respect from the people around her due to her job and people questioning her role in a supposed man’s job.

Bad Days: We all have bad days, and Evanovich makes sure to include those throughout the books as well. However, she is able to shine light on them.

Friendship: Stephanie Plum is independent, yet would not survive anything she encounters without her friends.

Loyalty: Throughout the turmoil, Plum can always count on her friends.

Special effects: The movie based on Evanovich’s first book, One for the Money, shows how intense some of the scenes can be. There is always something blowing up or burning down.

Girl insight: Although the story is from a female’s perspective, everyone can enjoy the plot.

Funny Criminals: Being a bounty hunter sounds interesting enough, but once you start to read and see the type of people Stephanie Plum is supposed to find and capture, it gets even better.

New Jersey: Stephanie Plum’s job takes place in New Jersey, which includes characters that fit the stereotype of New Jersey perfectly.

Ratings: Evanovich is a #1 best-selling author, with multiple series to her name. This series has been successful for over a decade.

Movie releases: If you have not seen the movie that came out in January 2012, it is a must-see. Katherine Heigl took the role of Stephanie Plum.
