The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Pierce the Veil is a progressive post hardcore band that is currently on top of their game. The San Diego natives just released their third album in July and are currently kicking off their latest tour.

The band consists of brothers Mike Fuentes (drums, percussion) and Vic Fuentes (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Tony Perry (lead guitar), and Jaime Preciado (bass, vocals). They have been seen touring with various bands over the years since their 2006 start. You may have seen them impacting some of the best concerts in the recent years including bands such as A Day to Remember, Chiodos, The Devil Wears Prada, Emarosa, and Bring Me the Horizon among others.

The band’s first album, “A Flair for the Dramatic,” was released in June 2007 under Equal Vision Records and includes one of their top hits, “I’d Rather Die Than Be Famous” which holds their original alternative sound. “Selfish Machines” was released in June 2010 under the same record label, which made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. This album includes such tracks as “Caraphernelia” and “Bulletproof Love.” After they signed with Fearless Records in August 2011, they were able to release “Collide the Sky” on July 17, 2012.

Just to prove the amazing progress this band has made over the years, check out their presence at the Vans Warped Tour. In 2007, they played one date on Vans Warped Tour. The next year they were able to perform for the entire tour. And finally four years later, in 2012, they were the main event stage for Warped.

The first single released from “Collide The Sky” was “King for a Day” which features Sleeping with Sirens’ Kellin Quinn, followed by “Bulls in the Bronx“ three weeks later, with both receiving great praise. The band has been able to stay true to their original sound of Vic’s unique, high-pitched voice singing intense and emotional lyrics with intense guitar and drum sounds.

In addition to their own albums, the Fuentes brothers from Pierce the Veil have teamed up with various bands that are also gaining great attention not just from the post hardcore scene but all alternative and rock genre lovers. The brothers became part of the project, Isles & Glaciers, who released their first and only EP The “Hearts of Lonely People” in March 2010. You can also listen to their renditions of top songs on “Punk Goes Classic Rock” and “Pop CDs” including “Punk Goes Pop Volume 5,” available November 6, 2012 on the “Somebody I Used to Know” cover that Vic Fuentes did with Mayday Parade.

Their UK Tour starts September 16, 2012 followed by a U.S.A. Tour which has sold out at many venues, so make sure to get tickets now. The guys never fail to bring limitless amounts of energy and excitement, as well as great stage presence.
