The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

While some gamers may anxiously be waiting for November’s Halo, Hitman and other such popular franchises, October game releases should not be overlooked. These releases include popular franchises such as Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed.

Action

(10/2) “Resident Evil 6″ (PS3, Xbox 360)

(10/9) “Dishonored” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

(10/16) “007 Legends” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

(10/18) “Transformers: Fall of Cybertron” (Wii, Nintendo DS, 3DS)

(10/19) “Doom 3 BFG Edition” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

(10/23) “Medal of Honor: Warfighter” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

(10/28) “Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask” (3DS)

(10/30) “Lego Lord of the Rings” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PS Vita, Nintendo DS, 3DS)

(10/31) “Assassin’s Creed 3″ (PS3, Xbox 360)

“Resident Evil 6″ is the twenty-third game in this survivor horror/action game series which allows players to select between three different story lines. A fourth story line is unlocked once the first three are completed. The player is able to play through the scenarios with a friend, either locally or through an online multiplayer setting. A new feature which has been added comes from tablets, which allow players to recover their health. These can be created by finding herbs.

“007 Legends” is a game meant to celebrate the fifty year anniversary of James Bond. A single player campaign was created which will have one mission from each actor’s era. The missions will feature ‘Goldfinger’, ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’, ‘Moonraker’, ‘License to Kill’, and ‘Die Another Day’. The ‘Skyfall’ mission will be released as Download Content. As if that wasn’t enough, some of the original actors from the films added their likeness and voices to the game.

“Lego Lord of the Rings: The Video Game” is the twelfth game in this video game franchise, which is known for its comedic brand of humor, as well as its entertaining cooperative or single player gameplay. However, unlike the other games, LLOTR will take its voice acting and dialogue directly taken from the film trilogy. The game is also an open world game, and will utilize more RPG-like elements.

“Assassin’s Creed 3″ is the fifth game in the main series, and takes place during and after the American Revolution. It also features a new protagonist: half English, half Native American Connor Kenway. The game will feature the “present day” setting, in which the series’ protagonist Desmond Miles will have to prevent the 2012 apocalypse, in which Desmond’s story will finally reach its conclusion.

RPG

(10/7) “Pokemon White 2″ (Nintendo DS)

(10/7) “Pokemon Black 2″ (Nintendo DS)

(10/9) “XCOM: Enemy Unknown” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

(10/9) “Fable: The Journey” (Xbox 360)

“XCOM: Enemy Unknown” is the “reimagined” remake to the 1994 “UFO: Enemy Unknown.” It is thus a return to X-COM series roots, making it differ greatly from the previously announced shooter “XCOM” by 2K Marin. The game has to player command troops through a series of turn-based tactics, such as expanding their base, managing finances, and monitoring alien activities.

“Fable: The Journey” is the fifth game in the Fable series that will be utilizing the Kinect to manipulate magic. By performing gestures with their hands, players will enter a spell-crafting mode which allows them to draw items with their hands and use them as spells. Players will also be able to create spears, shields and hammers to use in defeating enemies.

Racing

(10/23) “Forza Horizon” (Xbox 360)

(10/30) “Need for Speed: Most Wanted” (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS Vita)

“Need for Speed: Most Wanted” is the nineteenth game in the Need for Speed series, and will take on the gameplay style of the original “Need for Speed: Most Wanted” released in 2005. Players select a car and compete with other racers; however, in certain races, the police will get involved and try to stop and arrest the player. In the single player section there will be a total of 10 racers to compete against.

Dancing

(10/9) “Just Dance 4″ (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

“Just Dance 4″ is the fourth game in the main series, and the gameplay remains similar to that of the previous games. However, there are some new features, such as a dance battle mode, expansions to the Just Sweat mode, and unlockable routines for songs. Online leaderboards on the PS3 and Xbox 360 will also be available.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Redmond, U.S.A — What’s black and white and packed with new features that portable gaming fans will love? Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, both launching October 7, for the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems (also playable in 2D on Nintendo 3DS systems), deliver a wealth of new options and story elements that experienced Pokémon fans and newcomers alike can instantly enjoy.

Revisiting the imaginative Unova two years after the events of 2011′s Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, these games invite players to meet old friends and make new ones as they quest to face down rival Gym Leaders, survive heated turn-based battles and collect as many Pokémon as possible. The ability to make your own Pokémon movies, connect with other players in new ways and enjoy a new storyline add even more fun to the mix.

In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, players take on the role of a Pokémon Trainer who must explore new areas of the Unova region two years after the events of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version. This marks the first time in the history of the core Pokémon video game series that storylines have continued from one game release to another.

The characters and environments in Unova have undergone extraordinary changes, from the rise of new Gym Leaders to a new Unova Challenge area where players can level up their Pokémon more easily than ever before. A newly upgraded Pokédex also makes it simpler to find data and track Pokémon – including new forms of Legendary Pokémon.

“The amount of new features and content in Pokémon Black Version 2 andPokémon White Version 2 is remarkable,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Even fans who spent countless hours battling their way through the Unova region in the previous games will find plenty of surprises, and it’s an experience found only on Nintendo hand-held systems.”

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 introduce a new Medal System that rewards players for reaching certain in-game milestones, such as taking a certain number of steps, hatching Egg and using C-Gear to connect with friends. There are more than 250 unique medals to collect, giving players more goals to achieve even after they have completed the game’s main storyline.

Players who have completed the main game can also enjoy additional content through the Key System, which unlocks additional Unova Challenge areas for players to take on, and offers detailed customization options for advanced players. For example, players who have gained access to the Key System can adjust the difficulty of the Pokémon belonging to Trainers they encounter in the field, making them stronger or weaker.

As players work to uncover the mystery behind Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, they’ll encounter new areas. Join Avenue is a new location that works like a virtual shopping mall where players can browse and buy a wide selection of in-game items – from plants and berries to fossils that can be turned into living Pokémon. When players connect wirelessly with others, they’re rewarded with more shops on Join Avenue and more choices for enhancing their Pokémon’s abilities.

Other new features in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2include the new Pokémon World Tournament mode, which lets players battle Gym Leaders from regions in previous Pokémon video games. There’s also Pokéstar Studios, a movie “studio” near Virbank where players can use a variety of scripts to make their own customized Pokémon movies and release them to an audience.

Players who experienced Pokémon Black Version andPokémon White Version can use the Memory Link feature to sync their save files from those games and view an expanded storyline showing events that took place in Unova during the past two years.

Players with a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL system also can connect to the Internet and purchase Pokémon Dream Radar from the Nintendo eShop. Also launching on Oct. 7 at a price of $2.99, Pokémon Dream Radar lets players use the built-in Nintendo 3DS camera and motion controls to catch Pokémon, which can then be transferred into Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

The Pokédex 3D Pro application launches in the Nintendo eShop on Nov. 8 at a price of $14.99, allowing players to see more than 640 Pokémon in full 3D and offering information that Pokémon Black Version 2 andPokémon White Version 2 players will find especially useful.

The original Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version launched across North America in March 2011, selling more than 1 million copies on their first day of availability and launching a new generation of Pokémon. To date, the games have sold nearly 15 million units worldwide, ranking them among the best-selling games of all time for Nintendo DS family of systems.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

London, UK — To be among the elite video game players at the Pokémon World Championships, players must collect and train a powerful Pokémon team, spend countless hours preparing for battle, and plan a strategy for the intense competition they must face.

For a select few players who competed at the 2012 Pokémon World Championships in Hawaii, their hard work, dedication, and success earned them a place in the upcoming Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 video games launching October 12 in the UK.

The Pokémon Company International announced today that 12 video game finalists from this year’s Pokémon World Championships—including three-time World Champion Ray Rizzo—will be the basis for Pokémon Trainers in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 to challenge players as part of the in-game Pokémon World Tournament.

Beginning on October 22, three distribution events via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service will unlock Pokémon World Tournament events featuring those finalists. Each distribution will feature four finalists from a Pokémon World Championships age division, and you can battle them after reaching the Pokémon World Tournament found in the Unova region’s Driftveil City.

You will battle the Pokémon teams that these top Trainers used at the 2012 Pokémon World Championships, including their moves, held items, Abilities, and Natures. Ray Rizzo’s lineup of Tyranitar, Garchomp, Cresselia, Hydreigon, Metagross, and Rotom proved too strong for the competition as he battled his way to an unprecedented third Pokémon World Championships title.

The Pokémon World Tournament gives players the chance to test their mettle against Gym Leaders and other popular Trainers from past Pokémon games, as well as these real-world Pokémon Trainers.

To participate in the Pokémon World Tournament distributions, you will need to have a copy of Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2, a system in the Nintendo DS family or the Nintendo 3DS, and wireless broadband Internet access. More information, including dates for all three distributions, the complete list of finalists that will be included in the distributions and further instructions on how to participate, will be announced October 15.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

In the regular Pokémon series, there are often two different versions for a gamer to choose from. The differences are evident within each version: there are generally some varying Pokémon in them. Usually a few months after the two versions are released, there is an in-between game that changes or adds to the storyline. Additionally, there are different Pokémon as well as areas and buildings to experience new activities in the game.

These in-between games are Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Crystal, Pokémon Emerald, and Pokémon Platinum. However, this time the Pokémon Company decided to give us something different, and instead provide a sequel to both Pokémon Black and Pokémon White appropriately called Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. These games are set two years after the events in the first games where, though not everything has changed, quite a bit has changed. Many of the locations have expanded and even some of the Gym Leaders are different (though the majority of them are the same).

Team Plasma also makes an appearance, but this time broken into two factions. Old Team Plasma wears the old Team Plasma uniforms from the last two games and follow the ideals of their old leader N (getting Pokémon trainers to release their Pokémon). The New Team Plasma have new uniforms and follow the leadership of Ghetsis, who served as the main antagonist in Pokémon Black and White. This makes these games the first games to have the player going against two crime syndicates since Pokémon Emerald.

Though there are very few new Pokémon introduced (though there are some new forms for a few of the Pokémon) there are different Pokémon in these games. In the first two games, a majority of the game is spent only acquiring fifth generation Pokémon; however, in the sequel you can acquire Pokémon from any generation throughout the entire game. These games also have the largest amount of Pokémon in one region, having three hundred Pokémon before the National Pokédex is acquired.

Another new feature is Pokémon World Tournament, where there are several different battles you can have such as Rental Battles (where you get rent Pokémon to battle with), Mixed Tournament (where you can switch Pokémon with the Trainer you are battling), and Type Expert (where it focuses one specific type). In the tournament you can also fight against every Gym Leader from every region, that being Kanto, Johto Hoenn, Sinnoh, and of course Unova.

One of the last new features is the PokéStar Studios, which allows you to create your own Pokémon movie, all of which have complete different scenarios for you to choose from. The player initially has to use rental Pokémon in the movies, but once you finish the scenario you can enter your own Pokémon. If the player’s movie does well at the box office, he or she will even get prizes.

While these games have already been released in Japan, it will be awhile until it is finally released in English. Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 will not be released in the United States until October 7, 2012, but that doesn’t keep fans from getting excited over these new games.
