The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

On August 29, 2011, American rock giants Red Hot Chili Peppers released ‘I’m With You,’ their first studio album in half a decade. The 14-song album reached number 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart in the United States, but was generally heralded as an incomplete effort, leaving much to be desired.

It turns out the band was in agreement with some of their harsher critics. Despite embarking on a sold-out world tour, the Red Hot Chili Peppers still have some surprises for their international fan base. It was announced last month that more new songs are on the way.

Starting on August 10, the band began to release a pair of brand new tracks every few weeks and will continue for the next several months. They are available worldwide through CD, digital download from iTunes, the band’s official website, or on 7-inch vinyl for the record collectors out there. The new material, which consists of 18 full-length songs, is a product of the studio sessions during the ‘I’m With You’ recordings.

As if the announcement of unexpected material for their fans was not enough, the band commissioned California artist Kelsey Brooks to provide cover artwork for the vinyl releases, and when combined together, the nine covers will form one large piece of unique artwork.

The first pair of sides, “Strange Man” on the A-side and “Long Progression” on the B-side, was released on August 10. Both tracks have a decidedly authentic RHCP sound. Diehard fans will love the familiar Anthony Kiedis vocal breakdown on “Long Progression” and the beautiful vocal harmonies on “Strange Man.” Both tracks do an excellent job of highlighting new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and the seemingly new direction the band is taking after the departure of long-time guitarist John Frusciante.

The second pair of session tracks, “Magpies” and “Victorian Machinery,” will be released on September 11, 2012. The third pair, “Never Is A Long Time” and “Love Of Your Life,” will be released on October 2, 2012. The fourth set of songs (titles TBD) will be released November 6, 2012. The fifth pair of sides (titles TBD) will be released December 4, 2012, and the sixth pair (titles TBD) will be released December 18, 2012. The final two releases will be come out sometime in early 2013.

Just because these songs did not make the final cut for the album does not mean that they are a throwaway effort by the band to provide its adoring fan base with any semblance of new music. When asked about the unreleased tracks, drummer Chad Smith said, “We just wanted them to come out because we just really like them. We didn’t want them to get lost, so we’re gonna put them out, mainly for our fans.” With the worldwide release of 18 new tracks, “lost” is likely the last thing that will happen to these songs.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently carrying on their first tour in four years, after the release of their tenth studio album “I’m With You” in August this year. The record recently received a nomination at the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album.

The band, which is to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next spring, is currently composed of Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary (best known as “Flea”), Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer. They came back touring with a high level of powerful dedication, giving their fans some of the best possible rock shows. Red Hot Chili Peppers are demonstrating that they are still “the real deal” with a career spanning 28 years.

On the year that marks the twentieth anniversary of the “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” release, the album that garned Red Hot Chili Peppers the huge success that have characterized them since then, the band performs shows that comprise its whole career, touching all of the aspects of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ musical style which mixes funk, alternative rock, as well as some elements pertaining to hip hop and punk rock. “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” was remastered and reissued in 140-gram red vinyl on November 25th this year.

They play for two hours with no decline in excitement or fun. The arena becomes completely engulfed by the amusement that the band is clearly having. The shows usually open with “Monarchy of roses”, their recent single from the “I’m With You” album, and then go on with classics like “Under the Bridge”, “Can’t stop” and “Californication”, the latter accompanied by a background choreography that addresses the superficiality of our current society, as the song itself does, and also sends messages of self respect and true happiness, emphasizing the genuineness of this band.

One of the beautiful things about the show is undoubtedly the band members obvious love for what they are doing and their dedication to their fans. After more than 25 years, the band still has the enthusiasm of a group of friends who happened to make it big and see its dream come true.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are in great shape indeed: they do not only perform their beautiful songs, they fully live them, have fun with them, with the audience, and with each other. They play and interact with the audience, whose members get completely carried away. Besides the performance of the songs, there is also room for long jamming moments, and solos by Flea, Smith and Klinghoffer. The guitarist deserves a comment: he makes sure that no one will be missing the former guitarist Frusciante. Klinghoffer is confident, he fully participates to the show, and most of all he is great and fits the dynamics of the group perfectly.

Even if Red Hot Chili Peppers participated in the creation of rock history, they have kept their humility, which makes the show even more perfect. They respect the fans and completely give themselves to them. They often express their gratitude to those who actually made their dream come true: their fans. It happens too often in the music industry that bands forget that their fans play a central role in their success which leads to loss of humility: clearly not the case with Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ tour is a mixture of fun, love, power, respect and, even more, it is one of the best expressions of great, genuine, music. A must do for anybody who wants to live the ultimate rock experience.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Cleveland and debut on HBO in early May. The 2012 ceremony will again be open to the public, as it was – for the first time in the event’s history – at the 2009 inductions in Cleveland.

The new inductees are:

The Award for Musical Excellence

Cosimo Matassa

Tom Dowd

Glyn Johns

“We are pleased to announce this year’s Hall of Fame inductees, who represent the broad spectrum of artists that define rock and roll,” says Joel Peresman, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “We are also thrilled this year to again be partnered with HBO, who presented the Hall of Fame’s 25th Anniversary Concerts.”

“Our previous collaboration with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a landmark television event,” says Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “We are delighted to team up with the Hall of Fame again for what should be a memorable evening.”

Leading up to the April 14 ceremony, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will host more than a week of special events, including the grand opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s new Library and Archives, tours of the newly-redesigned Museum interior space, the unveiling of a major new exhibition, the Rock My Soul gospel tribute, a free concert for Cleveland and a special series of education programs designed to teach students across the nation about the history and impact of rock and roll.

Once open, the Library and Archives will be the world’s most comprehensive repository of written and audio-visual materials relating to the history of rock and roll. The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by more than 500 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first recording. All inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Through approaches as creative and diverse as the music itself, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum tells the story of rock music with its exhibits, education programs and library and archives.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation was established by legendary record executive Ahmet Ertegun and a group of music business executives to honor the artists that have defined rock and roll and have inspired and continue to inspire a generation. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. is the nonprofit organization that exists to educate visitors, fans and scholars from around the world about the history and continuing significance of rock and roll music.

It carries out this mission both through its operation of a world-class museum designed by I.M. Pei in Cleveland, Ohio that collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets this art form and through its library and archives, as well as educational programs.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

It’s been a while since their last album Stadium Arcadium in 2006 but the Red Hot Chili Peppers are back with a brand new hit “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie.” The song was recently leaked a couple days ago and became available for download on the band’s website.

It is the first single off their forthcoming album I’m With You, due to be released August 30th. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have won 7 Grammy Awards and sold over 65 million albums worldwide, it’s no wonder news of this album has created a lot of buzz.

Like typical Red Hot Chili Pepper style, the band brings more funky beats with elements of punk and psychedelic rock. Fans can view the track list and also pre-order the band’s following single “I’m With You” through their website. While the Red Hot Chili Peppers actually wrote 70 songs in total for I’m With You, only 14 of those tracks were actually included on the LP.

The recording process was described as “one of evolution,” and it was mentioned that “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” can give fans a preview as to what to expect from I’m With You. Bassist Flea explained that the band chose songs that “filled their own space” rather than simply picking “the best ones.” They collaborated with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer for the first time.

Klinghoffer previously worked for them as their guitarist technician and is now a member of the rock group Warpaint. To add a little twist, a future collaboration with young up and coming rapper Kreayshawn who is known for her popular single “Gucci Gucci” is also in the works.

Symbolic artwork for I’m With You was proudly displayed on the band’s website. The picture, designed by British artist Damien Hirst is an interesting and abstract one that may captivate attention alone. Fans can look forward to seeing the group soon when their tour begins next month. They will start off in China, and then travel to South America and Europe before sharing the musical experience with fans in the United States.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

2011 is bringing out some brand new albums from all of your favorite singers and bands. Some are albums you knew about long ago while others are from bands you may have never heard of. There are also some new albums coming out that you had no idea would even come from a band that was still playing. Check out some of the most anticipated albums of the year:

1. Iron and Wine- Kiss Each Other Clean

2. Taylor Swift- Speak Now

- This country star’s new album came out recently with more beauticious words that send out good messages to younger girls.

3. Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

- He may have a bad repuatation after portraying diva images and interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech, but he really knows how to keep the ear busy.

4. Kesha- Cannibal

- Looking to dance it up? Listen to “We R Who We R,” “Blow,” “Sleazy,” and of course “Cannibal.”

5. Kid Rock- Born Free

6. Kanye West and Jay-Z- Watch the Throne

7. Crystal Bowersox- Farmer’s Daughter

8. Panic! at the Disco- Vices and Virtues

9. Death Cab For Cutie- (Title to be announced)

12. Britney Spears- Femme Fatale

- Britney’s music has become more shallow, but more lively and enjoyable. So it evens out well.

13. Avril Lavigne – Goodbye Lullaby

- Who would have thought that Avril had a sensitive side? “Everybody Hurts” is quite touching and “Push” sounds like it came from her diary.

14. Coldplay- (Title to be announced)

-”Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” will definitely be a memory. Do you remember “Clocks?” This is the new one!

15. Radiohead- The King of Limbs

16. Beyonce- (Title to be announced)

17. Fiona Apple- (Title to be announced)

-Looks like she might be coming back! “Criminal” just seems so far away…

18. No Doubt- (Title to be announced)

- No more solo Gwen Stefani! She’s teamed up with her old band and they’re going to be releasing their newest album any day now. We haven’t been this excited since “Just a Girl!”

19. Willow Smith (Title to be announced)

- She whips her hair back and forth and now her album will be whipped all over the place.

20. Tune-Yards- Who Kill

21. Lady Gaga- Born This Way

- She really is beautiful in her way. This album is definitely a change for the music industry. In fact, it’ll be pretty hard to compete with this one. Gaga has already soared up the charts with her new album, and “The Edge of Glory” will soar it up many miles higher.

22. TV On the Radio- Nine Types of Light

23. Bon Iver- Bon Iver

24. Noah and the Whale- Last Night On Earth
