Los Angeles, U.S.A. —  Anderson Merchandisers, one of the nation’s distributors of prerecorded music, movies and books, is now a significant player in the digital world with the creation of Anderson Digital.

Anderson Digital, was launched with the acquisitions of SoPeachi Entertainment and Vanguard Cinema, two firms already well established in the digital content distribution and aggregation space. The LA-based Anderson Digital starts with a library of more than 5,000 TV shows and 1,000 feature films.  With these acquisitions, Anderson Digital launches with distribution capabilities in all segments of the digital marketplace, both domestically and internationally.

Anderson Digital will provide its content partners extensive reach and direct access to the leading digital, cable, and satellite, hotel, and mobile platforms. Current customers include not only the world’s largest digital music provider, but also companies including Amazon, CinemaNow, Hulu, Netflix, Sony Entertainment Network, Toys”R”Us Movies, VUDU and Xbox Video.

Anderson Digital will be run by its Managing Partners, Freyr Thor and Steve Lyons. The company provides a full suite of digital content aggregation and distribution services including not only delivery and artwork, but also digital restoration, artwork, ingestion and transcoding.

Thor has more than 20 years experience in entertainment distribution. As the founder of Vanguard Cinema and a co-founder of SoPeachi Entertainment, he is recognized as an expert in emerging digital platforms. Thor holds degrees in both literature and creative media as well as an MBA. He grew Vanguard to an independent cinema leader with more than 1,000 distributed indie titles. He is also the founder of the Indie Talent Awards.

Lyons has more than 17 years of experience, much of it focused on distribution, business development and new venture launches. In addition to his role as co-founder of SoPeachi he was also the founder of GoGoPop, which provided development of an online and mobile video platform focusing on children. Lyons has served as a Senior Vice President at both Sony Picture’s Home Entertainment and Ascent Media.  He holds a MBA degree from the University of Southern California.

Culver City, U.S.A. – ”From The Basement,” the highly lauded music series, produced for the first time in 3D, will make its U.S. premiere on 3net – the 24/7 3D network from Sony, Discovery and IMAX this July, followed by the 2D premiere on Crackle, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s multiple-platform video entertainment network, in August. In the UK, Sky 3D and Sky Arts HD will air both the 3D and 2D versions of the new season that includes artists such as The Shins, Foster the People and Feist, among others.

Crackle will feature the first two seasons of the music series via the Crackle site as well as on Android handsets and tablets; Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch; as well as ROKU, PS3, Sony Streaming Player, Sony Blu-Ray, Sony Bravia, Google Chrome, and Xbox Gold members.

The show has previously featured exclusive performances from a diverse selection of musicians including Radiohead, Beck, Iggy and the Stooges, PJ Harvey, Jarvis Cocker, The Raconteurs, Fleet Foxes, The White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age and Sonic Youth.

“From The Basement” is the brainchild of creative talents including multi-Grammy winning record producer Nigel Godrich. Long-time Radiohead producer Godrich launched the series originally in 2007 alongside producers Dilly Gent, James Chads and John Woollcombe. Since then, the show has attracted increasing attention for its breadth of vision coupled with its hugely respectful and empathetic presentation of artists playing at the peak of their power.

Produced by this small group of dedicated individuals, the show has always aimed to focus on definitive live performances from some of the most creative and innovative artists of our time.

Godrich said, “My own personal goal is that in the future some of these performances might be seen as the truest representation of the state of these artists’ work, captured in a way that lets their talents speak – without the interference of presenters or audience.”

Hailed by media as “a new breed of music show” and “music TV at its best,” the series will be comprised of six, hour-long installments that are being filmed in Los Angeles and London.

All music in “From The Basement” is produced by Nigel Godrich. Dilly Gent, James Chads, John Woollcombe and Godrich are series producers. “From The Basement” is produced by FTB3 for 3net in association with Sony Pictures Television Networks and Crackle. Sony Pictures Television is distributing the series internationally, outside of the U.K..

An e-mail sent out by Sony has confirmed that all “PlayStation Network accounts” will be renamed to “Sony Entertainment Network account” or “SEN account.” However Sony assures users that it is simply a name change and a part of their effort to establish a single, unified platform where users can get video game, movie and music content all in one place.

The email also explains some of the changes that  that will be made to the Terms of Service and User Agreement and Privacy Policy:

• New terms for parents of minor, subaccount holders regarding the limitations of chat parental controls. Your reacceptance of the Terms of Service and User Agreement and Privacy Policy affirms your consent to the sharing of your child’s data that may occur if your child utilizes certain communication functionalities on PlayStation devices such as PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems.
• New terms that explain the location-based services offered through the PlayStation Vita system. For parents of minor, subaccount holders your reacceptance of the Terms of Service and User Agreement and Privacy Policy affirms your consent to your subaccount holder’s user of these services on the PlayStation Vita system.
• A description of our “What’s New” section, which provides topical information about our services and advertisements.
• Information about pre-ordering content.
• The name of your “PlayStation Network account” is changing to a “Sony Entertainment Network account.”

On February 8, 2012, your “PlayStation®Network account” will be renamed a “Sony Entertainment Network account” or a “SEN account” in conjunction with Sony Computer Entertainment’s PlayStation®3 system software and PlayStation®Vita system software updates. (Note, this change will not be applied to the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system at this time.)

For general purposes, this account change is a change in name only. Your username or password will not change, nor are we asking you to change them. In accordance with this transition, some necessary naming changes will be made to the TOS and Privacy Policy.

This transition is based on Sony’s goal to enhance its unique digital entertainment offering. As a series of these activities Sony started last September, PlayStation®Network will be aligned with “Sony Entertainment Network.” This helps us get closer to our goal of establishing a global comprehensive network platform of services across games, movies, music and more, all accessible from one convenient account.
