The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

The Ready Set, All American Rejects, and Boys Like Girls are bands for fans of all ages, and have plenty of talent, energy and charisma to go around. Boys Like Girls and All American Rejects sharing stage is something that has needed to happen for years. Toonari Post recently had the opportunity to attend the concert in Cedar Falls, IA.

The Ready Set was the closest to amateur status on stage that night, but broke through that title within the first song of their set. The Ready Set, who is Jordan Witzigreuter, was good at getting the crowd pumped up for the concert to come, while holding their own time on stage. This included even playing the hit, “Gangnam Style” and dancing along with the crowd. You could tell that he has a loyal fan base already, with the line of fans waiting to get Witzigreuter’s autograph after the show. Definitely a great pick for an opening act.

It is hard to believe that ten years ago, All American Rejects’ “Swing, Swing” was released, but it has yet to slow down for them. Their performance was entertaining, starting with Tyson (lead vocals) using sarcastic, borderline vulgar language between songs. While performing, the entire band used the stage to its full potential, preventing any bad seat in the house. The band continued to keep the crowds attention by calling crowd members out to have conversations with. Whether the song was from ten years ago, or this year, they were all greatly performed and there was hardly an audience member not singing along.

At first, you might be taken aback that Boys Like Girls, who entered the scene years after All American Rejects, was the final performance of the night. But once they start performing, you see that they have used the short amount of years they have been together to their advantage. Their performance was absolutely amazing. Even from their last successful tour, you are able to see improvement this time around. They took the risk and opened the set with new music, but the crowd didn’t seem to mind. The band then continued to play way past their set time, just completely being engaged and loving the crowd. Front man, Martin Johnson, is great at leading the band’s performance, but each member held his own.

This is definitely a tour you can’t miss: the past and present coming together with great music. As for the show in Cedar Falls, IA, fans were able to get meet and greets the night of, with all three bands, and Boys Like Girls stayed until everyone had met them. Today, the chance to be at such a personal, light-hearted and fun show is rare, but all of these bands make it look easy. If you’re unable to make it to a show near you, make sure to check out their new music. All of them have new catchy tunes that stay true to their authentic, original sound.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

August 30, 2012 kicks off the start for the All American Reject’s fall tour that will cover the majority of the United States. They will be sharing the stage with BoysLikeGirls and The Ready Set. It has been about three years since AAR has toured. Yet with a new album under their belt, there is no doubt the wait was well worth it.

Over 10 million albums sold, worldwide recognition, and the fourth album released; The All American Rejects’ band members could not have predicted any of this back in 1999 when the band was first forming.

You may know the All American Rejects for their catchy summer tune “Dirty Little Secrets,” influencing you to share your secrets in 2005. Or you may know them from even farther back with songs such as “Swing, Swing” from their self-titled debut album in 2003. No matter when you got to know them, as a fan you have been able to fall into the lyrically dreamlike state and let go of your life for the time allotted.

Since hitting mainstream in 2003, The All American Rejects have performed with acts such as CKY, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is…, Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday, and Motion City Soundtrack to just name a few. They have also continuously performed for Van’s Warped Tour over the years.

After their debut album in 2003, they have consistently made an impact as they released new work. Since 2003, there has been “Move Along” in 2005, “When The World Comes Down” in 2008, and lastly “Kids in the Street” this year. Thanks to solid singles off the albums, they band has made noise on various countdowns, iTunes charts, as well as features in television events. This includes ranking 73 in “Hot 100 Artists of 2000.”

As for this decade, what does All American Rejects have up their sleeves?

Their latest album, “Kids in the Street” has a message that is more than just what the lyrics provide. They are allowing their fans to speak their minds about what “Kids in the Street” means to them through photos, art, words, videos, and any other way they choose. Their website is full of ideas and stories from their fans that include all sorts of situations everyone can relate to; including relationships, friendships, and all the ups and downs throughout life. The winner will be able to have a special event with the band and share the inspirational story. If you try and look up their songs’ lyrics, they even admit they never had all of them completely written out but rather a conglomeration of life experiences and ideas. They are allowing their fans to do the same; make an overall story for others to relate to.

Do not miss out on the chance to see this band take on the stage: They create a concert full of energy, charisma, great lyrics, musical skills, and the desire to connect with their fans. And if you can’t make it to a show, definitely make sure to purchase their album. Remember, they too are just “Kids in the Street.”
