The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

This was definitely not the greatest week for the British Royal family, due to a naked-photos scandal. Prince Harry was enjoying himself with friends during holiday in the United States when some embarrassing images of him surfaced from a wild night of partying in Las Vegas.

Specifically the two images obtained of Harry, sold for £10,000, were published and leaked online on tuesday night by the american celebrity news website TMZ. The two pictures were both showing the third-in-line to the throne naked in his birthday suite.

In one of the photographs, prince Harry is pictured naked benting over a second person, who also appears to be naked. It is not clear whether the person is male or female. In the other photograph the young prince is also pictured nude, covering his genitals with his hands and wearing only a necklace and a watch while another person, who also appears to be naked, stands close beside him.

TMZ reported that the two images were both taken after a game of strip billiards last weekend at a private suite in the Wynn Resort. The Prince visited Vegas to enjoy himself with some friends, after official business at a charity event in San Diego.

Prince Harry who has now returned to the motherland has some serious explaining to do to the Queen.

A video from the very same trip to Vegas has also been released, showing the Prince racing Ryan Lochte, the US Olympic swimming gold metallist in the pool of a nightclub in the hotel they were staying. Ryan Lochte, who was in Las Vegas in order to celebrate his 28th birthday, admitted that he was ‘surprised’ Prince Harry had challenged him to the race, which of course Ryan won.

Ryan also said that Harry was a great guy, and it has been a honour to have met him. Challenging one of the world’s top sportsmen wasn’t a first for the 27-year-old Prince, since he had managed to beat the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt in a joke race in March during a Caribbean tour.

Although banned to be printed in the United Kingdom, the nude images of Harry were quickly spread worldwide online. The Sun became the first newspaper in Britain to have published the naked images of Prince Harry, despite warnings from the Royal family’s lawyers. Elizabeth Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch’s daughter, claimed The Sun was right to publish the photographs. Elizabeth told Telegraph that “it would be very sad if we lived in a world where you can’t publish that. Even in my MacTaggart tunnel of the last couple of days, i went online and checked and checked out the pictures.”

A palace official, declining to be named in line with protocol, stated that Prince Harry has been on private holiday before, resuming his military duties. For those who don’t know: Harry is a captain in the British Army Air corps. On Wednesday, the British Royal family requested the country’s newspapers not to print the nude images of Prince Harry dancing around excitedly with friends on holiday in Las Vegas.

While now it’s nude pictures that are dominating the headlines, the young Royal is used to controversy. It is not the first time he’s coming into the spotlight. After all, he has the reputation of the ‘wild child’ in the Royal family:

Back in 2002, young Harry earned the nickname ‘Harry Pothead’, given to him by the British Press after admitting to having tried out cannabis and engaging to underage drinking. In January 2002, Prince Charles sent Harry and a friend to visit the Featherstone Lodge Rehabilitation Center in South London for a day in order to learn about the effects of drug-taking.

In 2004, Harry comes once again in the spotlight for wearing a swastika armband to a friend’s ‘Colonial and Native’ themed party. The tabloids exploded with reports that Harry was a Nazi. Clarence House quickly released an apology, saying “Prince Harry has apologized for any offence or embarrassment he has caused. He realizes it was a poor choice of costume.”

His reputation as a wild child was increased when The Sun claimed to have video of a 23-year-old Harry drinking in large gulps from a bottle of vodka, spitting it out on a cap and inhaling the shot through his nose while his friends were cheering him on. His representative made no comments on the incident, claiming it was a ‘private matter’.

Moreover, in 2009 there was additional footage of Harry in which the Prince was calling his fellow Army colleagues by racist or other derogatory names. Prime Minister David Cameron spoke out against his utterances, claiming they were unacceptable things to say. Harry of course quickly apologized for the incident saying he was sorry for any offence his words might have caused.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

Fort Lee, New Jersey — The National Inflation Association issued the following statement about the multi-platform revolution that is beginning this week at the London Olympic Games: On August 5th, tens of millions of Americans were upset about being unable to be among the billions of people worldwide to watch Usain Bolt’s 100 meter Track & Field gold medal victory live on TV.

One of NBC’s main reasons for not airing Olympic events live on TV in the U.S. is the fact that NBC recognizes the London Olympic Games as the beginning of the U.S. multi-platform revolution. All Americans who own a laptop, desktop, iPhone, or iPad, and are subscribers of any cable, satellite, or telco TV service, had the ability to authenticate their Internet-connected device and watch Usain Bolt race live using NBC’s ‘TV Everywhere’ web site and iTunes apps.

NBC reported that 1.3 million Americans watched their live ‘TV Everywhere’ stream of Usain Bolt’s race. This was NBC’s second most popular multi-platform live stream during the London Olympic Games so far, with only the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team gold medal victory surpassing it with 1.5 million live streams across all platforms.

In the 48 hours leading up to Usain Bolt’s 100 meter gold medal victory, NBC reported that an additional 1 million pay-TV subscribers authenticated their Internet-connected devices. This increased NBC’s total ‘TV Everywhere’ devices authenticated by consumers for the London Olympic Games across all platforms up to 7.6 million. So far, 7.6% of America’s 100 million pay-TV subscribers with the right to authenticate their multi-platform devices, have successfully gained access to live streams of every single Olympic event, with NBC streaming as many as 40 events live simultaneously.

NBC is also making available an archive for authenticated multi-platform ‘TV Everywhere’ users that offers a total of 3,500 hours of prerecorded London Olympic events.NIA recognizes the fact that Americans have fallen in love with their smartphones and tablet devices. With the new multi-platform revolution now officially underway, Americans will no longer be forced to watch TV in their living room.

Americans who are pay-TV subscribers will now be able to watch any TV programming, at any time, from any location, on any platform! This could create billions of dollars in value for pay-TV companies and their subscribers between now and the end of 2012.

NIA recently accumulated 2% ownership in Synacor, Inc., a publicly traded company with multi-platform authentication technology that is making it possible for NBC to provide their ‘TV Everywhere’ coverage of the London Olympic Games, by authenticating for NBC the pay-TV subscribers of nearly 40 pay-TV companies, including 12 of America’s 25 largest multi-channel programming distributors including Dish Network, Charter Communications, SuddenLink, Mediacom, and CableOne! Synacor recently reported 58% revenue growth last quarter, which validates the huge growth ahead for companies that deliver ‘TV Everywhere’ services across multi-platforms.

If you are looking for ways to capitalize on NBC’s hugely successful multi-platform coverage of the London Olympics and the multi-platform revolution that is now underway, please be sure to download NIA’s brand new free 58-page educational ‘TV Everywhere’ report by going to: http://inflation.us/tveverywhere.html

NIA’s brand new in-depth report talks about how this is the biggest fundamental shift for the TV industry since the invention of color TV. NIA believes that multi-platform offerings of ‘TV Everywhere’ services could potentially create billions of dollars of wealth in the U.S. for leading pay-TV companies. NIA’s report is the most important report ever released about the future of cable, satellite, and telco TV services in America.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

London, England — A massive audience of 6.2 million Canadians watched the world’s fastest runner win gold in the men’s 100m final Sunday, powering Day 9 (August 5) to be the most-watched day yet for Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium at London 2012.

With an average of nearly 5 million viewers watching from 4:52 – 5:03 p.m. ET on CTV alone, Usain Bolt’s winning race is in line with the record-setting Top 10 (non-hockey) events from Vancouver 2010. Day 9 (Sunday, August 5) becomes the most-watched yet at London 2012 with 2.5 million viewers watching on average over 22 hours of coverage.

Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium confirms that audiences for London 2012 continue to out-run Beijing 2008, with viewing increasing by an impressive 87% during Days 7-9. An average of 2.3 millionviewers tuned in throughout the consortium’s 22 hours of daily coverage from Aug. 3-5, including an average audience of 2.9 million viewers in prime time.

Additionally, a whopping 3.6 million viewers tuned into OLYMPIC DAYTIME during Days 7-9, with 4.3 million viewers tuning in to Sunday’s daytime broadcast alone. On CTV, the tape-delayed prime time coverage averaged 2 million viewers, up 43% over CBC’s prime time live/tape-delayed coverage of Beijing 2008 (1.4 million) for the same time period.

From the start of the 2012 Games to date, an incredible 30.5 million Canadians – or 90.7% of the population – has watched some coverage on Consortium channels. Additionally, London 2012 continues to be a wide-reaching event with 92% of all women, 91% of all men and 87% of all children experiencing some part of the 2012 Games on television.

In addition to the men’s athletics 100m final, the top events of London 2012 on the Consortium networks all took place over the weekend. On Canada’s golden Saturday, an average of 2.1 million viewers tuned in as Rosie MacLennan won Canada’s first gold medal of the 2012 Games during the women’s trampoline final.

The men’s 1500m freestyle swimming final averaged 2.8 million viewers as Canada’s Ryan Cochranewon a silver medal, while the women’s team pursuit cycling averaged 2.2 million as Canada won bronze. Additionally, Michael Phelps’ last Olympic race, the men’s 4x100m medley relay, garnered an average audience of more than 2.9 million on Saturday.

Meanwhile, despite only two days of coverage, athletics (16.3 million) is now a close second to swimming (18.6 million) in terms of most-watched sports by unique viewers.

Additional Highlights for Days 7-9:

Sunday’s men’s athletics 100m final is the top event on both CTV (4.9 million) and V (854,000) of the 2012 Games to date

TSN achieved its highest audience of the 2012 Games to date on Friday with the Canada/Great Britain women’s soccer quarter-final averaging 841,000 viewers and reaching 2.7 million viewers

Sportsnet achieved three of its Top 5 most-watched events of the 2012 Games on Days 7-9, led by the women’s athletics 100m semifinal on Saturday with 417,000 viewers

RDS had four of its Top 5 events of the 2012 Games on Sunday including the women’s 3m springboard final (446,000) and men’s athletics 100m final (426,000)

As Canadians left work for the long weekend, they stayed with Consortium digital coverage of London2012 as Days 7-9 brought 4.3 million video views, 20% higher than the same three days during Vancouver2010. By the end of Day 9, total page views to CTVOlympics.ca, RDSolympiques.ca, and the CTV Olympics London 2012 and RDS olympiques pour Londres 2012 Apps reached 129 million views, pacing 17% higher than Vancouver 2010.

The mobile story continues, as Saturday and Sunday saw the highest days of mobile traffic to digital platforms with almost 70% of digital traffic coming through mobile devices.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

London Olympics will be remembered for the great 100-meter race that paralyzed the entire world for less than ten seconds. Seven athletes achieved the finish line within less that ten second, on a wonderful night of athletics at the Stratford stadium.

Usain Bolt is since last night, August 5, on every front page throughout the world. The reason is that the Jamaican has won his second consecutive Olympic title in 100 meters with the second best record in the history (9.63), just five hundredths of his world record.

Bolt has become the second athlete (after Carl Lewis in 1984 and 88) who doubles the title win at 100 meters, something that Jesse Owens was unable to undertake.

Only Asafa Powell injured mid-career, reached over the goal of 11 seconds. Yohan Blake (9.75), Justin Gatlin (9.79) and Ryan Bailey (9.88) achieved personal bests and Tyson Gay (9.80), his best mark of the season. Therefore, silver went to Bolt’s countryman Yohan Blake, and the bronze went to Gatlin, who saved the honor for american fans.

Churandy Martina (9.94) and Richard Thompson (9.98) also completed a dream career by doing the 100 meters in less than 10 seconds.

The 9.63 record man, Usain Bolt was specially happy for this victory after having to listen to a lot of criticism in the past two years: “Means a lot, because a lot of people were doubting me. A lot of people were saying I wasn’t going to win, I didn’t look good. There was a lot of talk,” Bolt said. “It’s an even greater feeling to come out here and defend my title and show the world I’m still No. 1.”

Next challenge for Bolt will be the 200 meters race, where he will have another chance at making history.

The Toonari Post - News, Powered by the People!

In 2006, 24 year old Justin Gatlin was widely praised and celebrated, holding the title of world’s fastest man. Back in May 06, he was angry at the decision in which he was made to share the title with Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell, but things got a lot worst.

That same year as we all know, he was banned from the sport for 4 years for a positive test of a banned substance which he and his trainer claim were applied on him by a massage therapist sponsored by Nike…At this point, that is no longer the story.

This chapter of the story speaks of a second chance at being great and a second attempt at reaching the heights which he once held on that podium in the 2004 olympics. If you look on the USA track and field website today, there are no sign of any Gatlin stories before the ban was established-but this new chapter in his life is being written every day with perseverance and determination.

It is not clear whether he can or whether he will regain or come close to his gold medal form, but it will not be from a lack of trying. Gatlin has broken the 10.00 mark in the 100 for the first time in a race since his comeback began and is attempting to win another world championship this year.

In a recent interview, he credits his comeback to the loyal support of his understanding parents who did not let him forget where he wanted to be, which was on that main stage doing what he was born to do; and he made sure to be ready for that opportunity when it finally arrived.

He has been humbled by hours upon hours of recollection, aided by the fact that the sport has survived and has done extremely well without him at the helm… so to speak. Usain bolt is now the fastest man in the world, breaking all sorts of Olympic and track records while he returns as a former champion looking for a way in and an opportunity.

Justin Gatlin has lost out on endorsements and the potential millions that come along with them, even filing for bankruptcy at some point and also a failed attempt at an NFL career.

It is not all well of course because the once former world’s fastest man can’t compete in all the venues in Europe, who still recognize the ban; but competing anywhere is a privilege right now- like track and field officials have been quoted saying, “he needs to prove himself on the track first before they move forward”. It is up to Gatlin to make this comeback successful, in fact, this is only the beginning and we are all watching to see what he does next.
